Breathing through our pores.

Our body breathes through our skin as well as by our lungs.
It absorbs oxygen from the air and exhales carbon dioxide from cells back into the air.
Minerals from sea water and oceanside air are absorbed through the skin ... one reason why some people enjoy holidays in such regions. Some vitamins, minerals, and proteins are able to be directly absorbed through the skin. Vitamin D is manufactured on the skin by the influence of the rays of the Sun on the oils produced by the skin glands. Vitamin D is then transferred into the body.

For the past 12 years (1987-99) there has been research conducted to determine if the analysis of the breath of a person can be accurately used to diagnose the presence of certain diseases ... or even the preliminary environment for such to develop. The results have been a categorical yes. The development of adequate technology for the technologically dependent North American medical industry has yet to be taken to the market before mass use of such knowledge can be utilized. Other research approaches have concentrated on the possibility of analyzing the gases released from our skin as well as the degree of surface acidity present.

WHAT WE EAT often influences our skin, urine, semen, and perspiration odors and tastes. The Japanese and other fish dominant protein cultures have remarked that they can tell if a North American is present nearby by the odor. This is not a form of ridicule. Rather it is a reality. Persons who have switched from a heavy beef diet to a more vegetarian nutritional approach have often noticed the favorable "sweeter, less pungent, fresher" aroma of their own skin and fluids. In turn, this cleansing of the senses of such strong protein metabolic wastes also frees the senses of smell and taste to be more sensitive and aware.

A SENSE OF SMELL is for differentiation, not detection.
This is a subtle yet important clarification. Our rational ego consciousness uses an enhanced form of differentiation to provide us with the capability of reasoning. That is why neurological researchers assert that the olfactory lobes of the brain --- which provide us with our processing of sell sensing --- are the basis for the development of the later and more complex neocortex.

EXAMPLE:
If you enter a smelly public washroom, within several minutes your brain has recorded the odor and become desensitized to it. You have been alerted. Now your brain has other things to detect for you. Your sensory awareness has given you the choice to stay or leave. If you stay, your brain acknowledges that you have been notified and have accepted the odor as unthreatening. This is a constructive defense mechanism which allows us in such circumstances to become aware of other scents and odors in the nearby environment.

WITHOUT SENSORY DESENSITIZATION, our senses would soon become overloaded or fixated on certain strongly present odors and remain oblivious to everything else. In hypersensitivities, this defense mechanism becomes partially disabled and the brain tries to remain aware of and vigilant to ALL detectable scents nearby. This soon overloads --- sometimes within seconds --- the sensory inputs to one's brain with certain trigger scents, defined by one's ENERGY BLOCKS. Emotions, behaviors, and attitudes associated with flight (fear, paranoia, racing heart, anxiety, depression, pain, tension, ...) and fight (anger, rage, acting out, hyperactivity, cold extremities, ...) responses are then quickly mobilized and direct the person's actions.

FEAR STIMULATES the release of certain hormone-related odors from the skin. Dogs, and perhaps other animals, including ourselves, can detect this odor. Experiments have shown that dogs typically react to this odor with aggression and attack. For them, fear is a signal of weakness suggesting a predisposition of the targeted lifeform to flee rather than defend. Predators overwhelmingly target, attack and kill fleeing prey. Fear often arises from a frustration in resolving a conflict or anxiety. If one is well prepared, there is little left to fear. Out-of-control dis-ease patterns associated with hypersensitivities can be avoided and remedied by becoming aware of the information on these pages. It can be a matter of life or death.

Keeping everything running smoothly.

Your body is a naturally cleansing team of organs.
Under the direction of their own automatic functioning and the direction of your Reptilian structure --- they provide a self-cleansing, self-protecting, and self-regenerating Lifesystem. Self-cleansing is performed by one's intestines and colon, kidneys, liver, lungs, skin, lymphatic system, mucous membranes. The largest of all of these organs is the skin.

AS MUCH AS 1/3 of the body's toxins are excreted through the skin. As much as a pound of waste products is discharged through the skin of an adult each day. Hundreds of thousands of sweat glands act as both body temperature regulators as well as an excretion mechanism. The chemical analysis of sweat is very similar to that of urine. Neither fluid, if healthy, contain bacteria. Uric acid, the main metabolic waste product of urine, is found in large amounts in sweat. If the skin becomes inactive and its pores clogged with millions of dead cells, uric acid and other impurities will remain in the body.

POOR SKIN FUNCTIONING increases the demands on other elimination organs, mainly the liver and kidneys. If the efficient elimination of these metabolic wastes is inadequate, they will be deposited in your tissues and your other organs will be weakened and susceptible to disease. This helps explain why, for some people, the Finnish sauna, Turkish and Roman stream baths, and many hot springs have considerable healing influence. Franciscus Sylvius, (1614-72) German physician, was the first to treat the pancreatic, saliva, and other body juices chemically. He is credited with having said,

"One third of all diseases can be cured by sweating."

Use it, or lose it: Sensuality is Life!

Effective stimulation of the skin can provide the following benefits:

    • removal of dead skin and surface impurities;
    • attraction of the blood from the inner organs to the skin;
    • open the pores and facilitate effective elimination of toxins;
    • energize the hormone and oil-producing glands of the skin;
    • stimulate nerve endings and sensitize the awareness of the brain;
    • assists in maintaining health by decreasing body toxin load;
    • muscle tone is improved with alternate relaxation and activation;
    • fat deposits are less likely to clump and disfigure the body;
    • the symptoms of aging ... wrinkling, hardening, drying --- are reduced;
    • your complexion looks healthier: it is smoother and richer in color;
    • less toxins in the blood provide clearer thinking and greater alertness;
    • one is encouraged to feel happier, more optimistic, be more active;
    • metabolic rate increased and optimum weight more easily attained;
    • digestion improved as there is less demand on other excretory organs;
    • tiredness resulting from toxin accumulation will be reduced;
    • sexual awareness, interaction and pleasure are increased.

THE LIFESTYLE described above is that of the "primitive" and simple band-organized community. Whether living in the jungles of the Congo Republic, the forests of Canada, the ocean beaches of southern Argentina, the jungles of Brazil, or the deserts of south-central USA --- the lifestyle of non-political subsistence level peoples involves continual sensual skin stimulation.
Examples include:

    1. walking barefoot;
    2. picking berries, fruits, and edible flowers;
    3. digging and hand-cleaning roots and tubers;
    4. catching stunned fish by hand;
    5. relaxing by oneself or with another in a hammock;
    6. preparing and cooking food without appliances;
    7. eating with one's fingers ... no or few utensils;
    8. wearing few clothes unless handmade by oneself;
    9. continual stroking by grasses, leaves, branches;
    10. full openness to the rays of the Sun and wetness of rain;
    11. ease of and unrestricted respiration through the skin;
    12. considerable daily exercise: walking, running, swimming, ....

Not so fast!

NOTHING IS PERFECT IN PHYSICAL REALITY.
A simple lifestyle can be very sensual yet it is not idyllic by the standards of modern North American cultural expectations. Some of the "sacrifices" or daily losses of "opportunity" include these:

  1. endemic parasite infection;
  2. little variety of foods (all local);
  3. no social services, hospitals > shorter lifespan;
  4. lengthy food gathering and preparation;
  5. no refrigeration or freezing of foods;
  6. no power generated heat, cooling, appliances;
  7. small variety in clothing textures, styles, or colors;
  8. no opportunity to make or save money or use credit;
  9. no predictable work shift or work schedule;
  10. no holidays;

YOU HAVE THE CHOICE to fashion your own lifestyle.
People living the "simpler" lifestyle have refused entry into our complex cultures.
They believe that they live shorter lives of greater quality and happiness. They seldom die of degenerative or chronic illness. We, on the other hand, assume that a longer life is a better life.

In North America, most people have hypersensitivities (1999) and these are steadily growing more severe in symptoms for the average individual. (This may also be true of many areas of the world but I have not had clients from outside North America to provide a basis to confirm such.) In North America, our lives are almost devoid of positive sensual experience.

A LACK OF OPPORTUNITY for sensual expression encourages us to become involved in addictive (promises of sensual reward, yet non-fulfilling) destructive behaviors. Many of these behavior patterns promise us acceptance by our peer group or within the larger society. Outward acceptance seldom affords us the hugs, touching, and trust that we crave to fill our abandonment Energy Blocks. The answer for each of us is an individual personal one. Seldom will the optimal lifestyle for any one of us be a totally sensual emotive one nor a totally constructed rational one. There is no simplistic authoritarian perfect lifestyle to fit all personalities.

Dry Brush Massage: Cleansing for the masses.

AN OPTION FOR EVERYONE !
Here is an option which almost anyone regardless of age, creed, color, economic status, or physical ability can do for themselves or have others do to them: Dry Brush Massage. Get a natural bristle brush with a long handle, if possible. You can substitute an inexpensive natural plant-fiber vegetable brush, a loofah mitt or a coarse bath glove. Nylon and synthetic fiber brushes are best avoided as they are too sharp and may do more damage than good. It is always better to start out with a less stiff brush. Dipping the bristle in hot water for a few seconds, shaking off the excess water, and letting the bristles cool to a comfortable temperature before beginning can help.

  1. Avoid sensitive areas which may include face, inner thighs, chest, ...;
  2. Use moderation ... about 5 to 10 minutes;
  3. Best time for many is on rising and before going to bed;
  4. Use vigorous circular brushing movements;
  5. Brush until the skin becomes warm, glowing and darker;
  6. Begin with the soles of the feet;
  7. Follow with your legs, hands, arms, back, abdomen, chest and neck;
  8. Take a shower or sponge/wet towel rub-down to remove loosened material;
    • use about 3 minutes of hot water,
    • followed by 20 to 30 seconds of cold water;
    • repeat this cycle 3 times;
  9. Dry with a coarse towel;
  10. If desired, brush massage yourself to re-warm the skin.

WATER TEMPERATURE HAS MEANING.
Using hot water opens the pores and allows for good cleansing. Cold water both closes the pores against easy external contamination and sends the blood concentration back to the inner organs from the skin. This hot-and-cold variation promotes blood circulation between inner organs and outer skin. Leaving the blood concentrated in the inner organs will leave you feeling invigorated and the process will assist in the removal of toxins from both the skin and the inner organs.

OTHER FACTORS to be aware of:

    • Wash and clean your brush every week;
    • Do not brush infected or broken areas of your skin;
    • Brushing the scalp will stimulate hair growth and reduce dandruff;
    • If you have a significant other person in your life, work as a team:

      Help one another.
    • Oils to apply to dry skin:

        1. sesame seed oil;
        2. almond oil;
        3. olive oil;
        4. vitamin A creme;
        5. vitamin E creme;
        6. NEVER mineral oil;
        7. NEVER Vaseline.

Always check the label for the ingredients.
