Testosterone Hormone regulation.

CFS-ME Considerations.

  1. Introduction.

Testosterone is a hormone which demands balance.
Adequate testosterone provides adequate aggressiveness/action.
Inadequate testosterone presence removes one's ability for participation. It also increases one's potential for illness. Continual severe physical or mental challenge can also drain away testosterone reserves and weaken one for illness. Testosterone can enable one to burnout their libido as well as become ill. Long-term illnesses, such as CFS-ME, can also threaten to bring an individual to a potential for libido burnout, lower thresholds of retaining and available testosterone, and, more capacity for and presence of illness. For health, a balance must be found, recovered, and maintained.

Testosterone is a steroid hormone (androgen).
It is produced in the male testes and in the adrenals of both genders, and, the ovaries of the female. It is also believed to be produced from bio-transmutation from other steroids, particularly in women. The pituitary gland produces luteinizing hormone (LH), which stimulates the growth of testosterone hormone. Your Reptilian Structure seeks to maintain a balance by adjusting testosterone production up with the LH, and as it reaches a threshold amount, the release of LH is lessened. This removes the encouragement for testosterone producing tissues to be active, and it decreases until it is once again determined that it is too low. Ideally, testosterone levels vary little irrespective of demands for and uses of it.

Testosterone presence usually peaks in the early morning hours (about 4:00 to 8:00 am), encouraging activity, and decreases to its lowest levels in the evening (about 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.), encouraging rest. Levels also increase after exercise, which enables better assimilation from one's metabolism and effective excretion of wastes and toxins. Yet, these levels decrease with age. About two-thirds of testosterone circulates in the blood bound to sex-hormone binding protein (SHBP) and slightly less than one-third bound to albumin. Others dispute the proportions and state a near 50/50 split. A small percent (about 1-4%, or even 1-2%) circulates as free testosterone. Tissues which are particularly influenced are noted as the prostate, scalp, and beard.

Excessive adrenal, thymus, thyroid, and other endocrine demands are common in CFS-ME. Our Reptilian Structure is busy fighting off what is, or is perceived to be, biological attacks on our physical bodies. Unless we are uniquely informed, self-directed, have extreme coping skills, and have attained a high degree of maturity and spiritual strength, we will likely also be expressing frustration, anxiety, fear, anger, confusion .. about what we are experiencing. Fighting is action. Most negative, and ALL intensely expressed emotions are stimulators of our adrenal hormones and drains on our testosterone. With all of these ACTIONS called for, there is soon an inadequate supply of testosterone for "normal" functioning. The result can be a decrease in libido, an increase in fatigue, a decrease in immunity, an increase in miscommunications, and, an increased sensitivity to testosterone antagonists.

Problems can also arise during interim periods of Recovery.
Our levels of hormones may be returning to more healthful levels, yet we are having HUGE challenges in balancing our activities with weakened muscles, high toxicity loads, lost jobs, jeopardized marriages, social involvement decreases, and misunderstandings from well-intentioned persons. At once, we have been "retired", bound into a body cast, and are beginning to feel elements of energies returning. Chances are good that we have experienced numerous short "recoveries" or improvements in our health previously. And, it is equally likely that we have built a hope tempered by a Reality of Failure. If we fail to be physically active enough, excess testosterone can bring dis-ease to us. If we fail to rest enough, deficient testosterone will bring dis-ease to us.

The liver is responsible for metabolizing testosterone.
What does not pass this route is not converted to a useful hormone.
Anything that damages or weakens the liver thus has the potential to temporarily or permanently reduce both testosterone AVAILABILITY, and, libido. Read that last sentence a few times. It will not matter how much testosterone formation or presence you encourage in your body, IF, your liver is not healthy enough to make it Available. Consider that many drugs, refined chemicals and foods, and emotions of constriction can damage the liver. Parasites (bacteria, fungi, viruses, worms, amoeba) and heavy metals are well known for their potentially immediate and longer-term influences.

Testosterone also balances and can minimize fat deposits and buildup in the body. Persons with higher than average testosterone levels tend to have higher HDL fat levels, which is positive for cardiovascular health. They also tend to have less fat accumulation around their waist and belly regions. How do you know if YOU have a deficiency or not? There could be other influences which are providing the symptoms you are concerned about. If your testosterone level is adequate and you keep adding to it, you could end up with an excess. An excess can be just as destructive as a deficiency.

Too little produced yet too much available?
For the person with CFS-ME, a situation can arise in which there is too much bound testosterone in the system yet one is experiencing deficiency symptoms, or even, symptoms of both deficiency AND excess! For many reasons, the demands of the components of CFS-ME tend to encourage people to be more anxious, frustrated, and irritable .. symptoms of too much (free/bound?) testosterone. Yet deficiency symptoms of low free testosterone, impotence and low libido, often also attend CFS-ME, if not in the beginning, later on.
Read on.

2. Tests - Indicators.

There are a few tests and some indicators which have a tendency to indicate if there is a dramatic inadequacy of testosterone, or, too much. There are some racial/genetic variations as well and these complicate the more general indicators by altering threshold limits. Hence, facial and limb hair CAN be an indicator of a strong presence of testosterone, yet, oriental persons tend to have little hair in these places, yet, higher levels than would be indicated by the same in Europeans. Therefore, the following are best SEEN as insufficient indicators by themselves.

      Visual Awareness:
    • degree of hair on the front of the shin.
    • thickness of forearm hair
    • thickness of facial hair
    • proportion of muscle build
    • deepness of voice tone

Questionnaire-verbal tests are also available.
They are poor indicators based upon an assumption of the openness and humility of the (man) assumed to be taking them, and, they are a reflection of both specific and general symptoms which have been associated with (expectation) low levels of testosterone. Two assumptions and an expectation are not high for accuracy. Such CAN be a starting point and in a gross way provide a suggestion if you are best to look further, or, that you are way off the mark.

Here are some of the symptoms often presented.
The higher the intensity of the symptom, the more likely you may have a testosterone deficiency.

      Verbal Admission:
    • erection problems & degree of stiffness;
    • low sexual drive and libido;
    • increased fat around the waist, upper abdomen;
    • sweating to excess during any time of the day;
    • increased frequency of illnesses & sickness days;
    • increased growth of breasts than 4 months ago;
    • more frequent & concerning irritability;
    • more frequent & intense anxiety;
    • increased voice tone/frequency;
    • memory & concentration loss;
    • more noticed depression;
    • confidence changing to doubt;
    • infertility in men or women;
    • relationship problems;
    • irregular or no menstrual periods;
    • ovary or adrenal gland tumors;
    • increased insulin sensitivity, diabetes;
    • increased stress leading to cortisone release;
    • hypothalamus or pituitary disorders.

Laboratory Tests are more popular for physicians.
They provide an easy excuse for the doctor to justify discarding the concerns, or, for running more tests and involving prescriptions or hospital visits, depending greatly upon the freedom of the doctor to request same without concern for their license. Testosterone does not do its work alone. It is balanced and offset by other biochemical substances, each of which can influence the presence of and concentration of testosterone. A few of these include: Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), Luteinizing hormone (LH), Sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), Estradiol (an Estrogen), Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GRH), Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS). Any and all of these could be tested for also.

Total testosterone, aka, Serum testosterone.
For this test, a blood sample drawn from a vein in your arm.
Testosterone tests are carried out in laboratories on blood samples taken from body. These blood samples are usually collected in the morning, because testosterone levels are higher during morning hours. Most laboratory testosterone tests measure total testosterone, as the sum of both bound and free testosterone in the body. The most accurate blood test is the equilibrium dialysis, which measures free testosterone plus a portion of the albumin bound testosterone.

The test initiator (doctor, healthcare facilitator, lab technician) should (if the test is to be meaningful) advise you to discontinue (or at least inform them of) any drugs or supplements you are taking (which could influence your testosterone levels beyond that of normal assimilation from your foods). This is Extremely important, and often lacking.

The below excerpt is from:
http://ezinearticles.com/?Testosterone-Tests&id=353761

.. There are some do-it-yourself home testosterone test kits available at stores and online sites. They measure testosterone level in saliva. These tests are useful for aged persons and those who undergo testosterone replacement therapies. Apart from testosterone levels, saliva hormone tests also provide information regarding levels of other hormones such as DHEA, cortisol and progesterone.

Home testosterone tests are mostly simple - you collect your saliva in tubes provided with the kits at certain times of a day. Then you fill a simple form and mail the sample along with the form in a prepaid addressed mailer. The results are usually obtained in about 10 to 15 days. A complete home testosterone test kit is available from $55 to $80.

The major advantages of salivary hormone tests include low cost, private and convenient collection, and collection of multiple samples without spending the whole day in a laboratory. Testosterone usually follows circadian rhythms, so multiple sample collections allow more precise and accurate evaluation of the fluctuations in the rhythm.

Normal testosterone levels range from 300 to 1,200 ng/dL in men, 30 to 95 ng/dL in women, less than 100 ng/dL in pre-pubertal boys, and less than 40 ng/dL in pre-pubertal girls. Increased levels of testosterone are indicative of sexual precocity, viral infection of encephalitis, tumors involving the adrenal glands, testicular tumors, excessive thyroid production (hyperthyroidism), and testosterone resistance syndromes. Decreased levels of testosterone indicate Klinefelter syndrome, chromosomal deficiency, primary and secondary hypogonadism, and down syndrome.

A Testosterone Reserve in the body can last for up to 2 years beyond the last contribution from one or more sources. Taking a laboratory test for testosterone presence, if you have recently taken testosterone supplementation, and/or, included substantial food or herb sources in your diet WILL make the test useless. It will NOT indicate HOW your body is using what it has, or, how much may be accessible.

I demanded a lab test in 2006 after completion of verbal and visual tests provided high scores in favor of testosterone deficiency. I demanded the test because my then doctor was admittedly fearful of prescribing same with the possibility of finding out that I DID have a deficiency, for which the British Columbia provincial government, in Canada, would tell him he could NOT prescribe anything. That is what HE told me. He would much rather that I search out private marital therapy to first determine if my symptoms were a result of a destructive relationship. I had already Learned NOT to mention CFS-ME to the small number of area doctors available to me. The too often reported response for others with CFS-ME, is that patient concerns would be ignored and placebos would be prescribed just to get one out of their office.

Both the doctor and I were ignorant at the time.
I HAD been taken testosterone boosting herbs and medications from time to time in the previous year. Nothing had made any difference in the symptoms, unless such were very subtle and short-lived. The doctor asked me NOTHING before prescribing the test, about what other measures I had tried or what foods, herbs, or supplements I might have taken to alleviate the symptoms. He did not ask. I did not complicate. People with CFS-ME usually learn that doctors don't want to hear about supplements and the more YOU tell THEM, the crazier they tend to assume you are. The same held true for the laboratory staff.

Relevant tests do not grow out of sophistication.
The best tests in the world are useless if they are not taken correctly. There are Guidelines accompanying many medical tests. The guidelines are there to limit false readings by acknowledging the particular weaknesses of the test. Then, there is the question of relevancy in the interpretation of the test. If the test is screened by a specialist who also works and/or is registered with and regulated by a government department or ministry, they may be strongly encouraged to adopt riskier thresholds of caution in order for increases in cases to be downplayed politically.

My test results and evaluation were a fiasco.
I had been taking testosterone supplements periodically during the previous 2 years. I had not noticed any particular benefit from them. The likelihood is that they provided my body with a little more access to energy for short periods and that my Reptilian Structure simply used these resources to mount more intense defenses against real and presumed invaders ... weakening my adrenals more! A low level of testosterone was found. It was excused as a "normal" consequence of my AGE.

AGE is a convenient means to political denial.
Other doctors you may see later tend to assume that the earlier test results and interpretation must have been correct ... so we just don't look there any more, ever! I was in my late 50's at the time. The arrival of the symptoms had been dramatic and acute, not, gradual. They had also begun within a few weeks of the later confirmed start of my CFS-ME. The most elementary student of science would have been able to reason that if age were the influence, the symptoms would have grown slowly over a longer time (months or years). There is not a magic age threshold (of say, age 56) that males reach, and then suddenly, their testosterone levels drop!

If you want a relevant test that you can build from, you will be best served to know what is on this page, self-assess the verbal and visual tests, be both humble and assertive with your health care facilitator, choose to pay for the tests privately, and, choose to make an effort to find a health care facilitator who will work WITH you and not just work according to a protocol pre-set by themselves, their clinic administrator, their medical association, or their political overseers. Only YOU have the sincere interest of YOUR health, at heart.
Make the Effort.
Make it to Recovery!

3. Sources

There are foods, herbs, minerals, and supplements which can aid in building a reservoir of testosterone for us. Some will supply the hormone or its precursors. Others will maintain or increase urination to remove excesses and toxins. Some will strengthen our immune systems so less energy needs to be devoted there. It is not wise to assume that it is always better to supplement if one is unsure, rather than remain at a possible level of deficiency. An excess of testosterone can weaken your physical, emotional and social health. It could even endanger your life and you might endanger the lives of others. But, what do we get it from?

Drugs, including anticonvulsants, barbiturates, and clomiphene can cause testosterone levels to rise. Women taking estrogen therapy may have increased testosterone levels. Levels of testosterone in women tend to increase, proportionately, with age. Hormone replacement therapy also tends to increase their testosterone level. This also tends to end their ability to menstruate, and may, increase their libido.

Cruciferous vegetables, contain vitamin C and large amounts of nutrients shown to be cancer retarding. Thy are also known to provide Indole-2-Carbinol, which is a biochemical precursor for Di-indolylmethane (DIM), which has been found to release protein bound testosterone, to become Free testosterone in our systems, and thus raise free testosterone levels for us. It also enhances estrogen metabolism. The names of some cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, kale, horseradish, kohlrabi, cauliflower, rapini, rutabaga (turnip), arugula, cress, daikon, radish, wasabi, mustard seeds. That is, they don't contribute testosterone from the diet, yet they enable testosterone to be released into our systems from our reserves.

Excess is NOT a Benefit.
There are many options in the above lists.
The items selected with the * would be a good first priority addition for you, if, and when, they are easily available. The others can be a benefit though they are supports, not cures. Similarly, the inclusion of as many of the noted foods into your regular diet would be a benefit, unless, you muscle test or spiritually test, NOT strong for them. I did find that there is a tendency for persons with Type A blood type to test strong consistently for Olive Oil, and, weak, for Coconut Oil. I similarly have found that Coconut Oil tested strong consistently, for persons with Type O blood, who tested weak consistently, for Olive Oil. NEVER assume from any list or summary, and certainly not from any "expert".
Always test for YOU!

4. Antagonists

Refined and concentrated substances frequently challenge our bodies with imbalances. Proportions of nutrients optimized in foods have been minimized and altered by decades of commercial and poor quality farming, preserving, and packaging of foods. This combination of intensity and disproportion both sends our Reptilian Structure into Concern and Panic as it attempts to lower gluts and raise droughts of nutrients. Confusion arises when nutrient losses through processing results in a total absence of (for example) enzymes, which are necessary to enable a conversion from presence to assimilation. The following tend to LOWER our availability of testosterone.

    • alcohol
    • anabolic steroids
    • antihistamines
    • anxiety
    • arteriosclerosis
    • diabetes
    • drugs for heartburn and ulcers
    • excess vitamin A
    • too much or too little sex

    • age (in men)
    • estrogens
      • pesticides/insecticides
      • genetically modified foods
    • frustration
    • grains
    • heavy metals toxicity
    • high blood pressure
    • rage
    • smoking
    • sugars
    • chronic survival issues

Lifestyle Changes.
In addition to depressive and conflict generating emotions, as well as some drugs, excessively refined and nutritional unbalanced foods, and the malnutrition influences of addictions ... there are some lifestyle changes which can decrease the demands against a healthy testosterone level. These are factors which encourage too MUCH or too LITTLE demand for and use of our testosterone. Some of these are:

    • warmth, avoid cold temperatures;
    • dryness, avoid dampness;
    • increased skin stimulation, massage;
    • a firm seat on chairs, avoid slouching;
    • sexual moderation with no excesses;
    • bland spices, as hot ones can irritate;
    • more herbal teas, less or no beer;
    • less or no caffeine drank or in drugs;
    • less use of refined sugars and substitutes;
    • regular exercise of the Kegal muscles;
    • increase Hawthorn berry/extract use with age,
    • add Lavender aromatherapy;
    • no bicycling, or only with a soft seat;
    • Rest adequately until recovered from any illness,

      increase your self-reliance;

    • stress management techniques;
    • Become more involved in what you do,
      • sustained and regular exercise
      • prayer and meditation
      • planning and scheduling

    • avoid unreleased sexual stimulation:
      • minimize exposure to pornography,
      • avoid necking and flirting,
      • respect vs lust love.

A balance of testosterone level is made more difficult by the greater complexity of one's lifestyle. The more processed our food, the less testosterone we can produce. The more frustrating, anxious, and conflict generating our environment, the more testosterone we use, and need. The more polluted our environment, the more our testosterone level will be depressed. The more physically inactive and the more reactive we become, the more we tend to depress our available testosterone. The more we artificially stimulate ourselves with drugs, steroids, caffeine, alcohol, fear, anxiety, conflict entertainment, pornography, and intensity ... the more quickly we drain our testosterone reserves.

Sickness without rest sabotages recovery.
Sickness without removal of the dis-ease sabotages recovery.
Sickness without testosterone economizing prevents recovery.

... Pollen, the “seed” of flowering plants allows them to reproduce. What you may not know is that it’s also chock full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, unsaturated fats, enzymes and more. Pollen extract is a “superfood” for bees – and for your prostate.

Pollen extract promotes prostate health through a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This derivative of testosterone is the main culprit signaling your prostate to grow. DHT collects in prostate tissue by binding to your prostate’s cells and building up

... it’s DHT, not testosterone, that’s your prostate’s real enemy. For instance, DHT is 9 times more powerful than testosterone at making your prostate grow.

The powerful antioxidants and botanicals in this pollen extract reduce prostate swelling, improve urine flow and slow the production of excess DHT.1

When men took pollen extract for 4 months, over 78% reported improvement. Including: Better urinary flow, decreased residual urine and reduction of prostate volume. ...

5. Nutritional Patterns of Civilization.

Often, civilization brings benefits and losses.
A fundamental factor for all civilizations has been the introduction of grains into the diet in quantities only made possible by farming. This industrialization of gardening both encourages and makes possible long periods of routine, physical expenditure, in focal locations (vs wandering/foraging), in which regular large meals replace earlier simpler grazing of foods. In other words, grains provide for energy storage and extended periods of activity and stamina. Agriculture has enabled the security of wealth accumulation and stability. It has also introduced possessiveness, dependency, poverty, and loss. The value of options is related to the uses we make of them.

Grains are typically bland in taste, pasty.
Try eating grains cooked and prepared without salt, seasonings, or fats.
For nutrition and taste, it is what you ADD to grains, and how you process grains, which determines if the meal is energy providing, enjoyable, and healthful. There are many additions (oils, salt, bitter vegetables) which can make grains energy providing, yet terrible in taste and unhealthy in the longer-term (months, years). Then there are additions which can provide energy and taste (fried and fast foods, sugars), yet are still, unhealthy. Raw foods are often tasty and nutritious, yet not good providers of energy. Some foods, grains and meats, demand energy for metabolism, yet provide stored energy for later, or more extended availability. It is often HOW we prepare Grains which determines if we are encouraging greater testosterone production within us, or, less.

The addition of sugars, in the form of fruits and refined sugars, increases the demand within the body for additional supplies of zinc (meats) and vitamins. Without these increases, androgen hormone production is increased. In women, this reduces ovulation. In all humans, insulin resistance and body weight gain is encouraged. These, in turn, raise the frequency and extent of diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and breast cancer. But, you may live longer and accumulate more material wealth ... while building reduced levels of overall health, relationship harmony, and calm levels of happiness.

If you are a male and your production of testosterone is not made use of, or otherwise clears your system regularly, you will begin to accumulate excess of it in your prostate gland. This means that you are not active enough to match the degree of production. As we age, men tend, to produce less testosterone, and, culturally become less physically active and more parental and adult in activities and lifestyle. In societies where males can graduate to "executive" roles requiring more sedentary, teaching, or management roles, the decline in testosterone production and the decline in testosterone production increasingly are not paced. This, in males, leaves a net excess of testosterone. Yet, even if your hormone systems are healthy and maintaining a balance, this balance will fail with CFS-ME.

Too much unused testosterone in the male physiology will encourage the development of prostate inflammation and the problems of urinary stricture and libido loss which normally accompany that. Increasing, or maintaining one's frequency of sexual intercourse or masturbation could maintain an equalization of these levels. Unfortunately, this would severely conflict with the preservation of one's libido. This is why, particularly in ancient Chinese "spiritual" beliefs, the male is encouraged to retain their semen and seek to experience sexual involvement, more often without orgasm, than with. There are age related formulas which indicate presumed optimal frequencies of orgasm for males. As an example, for good libidinal and physical health, an optimal frequency for a 20-year-old male might be once every two days. For a 50-year-old, it might be optimally recognized as once every ten days.

BEWARE:
Do not let your fears, ignorance, or assumption distort the potential of the above paragraph. It speaks about Optimal Frequency of Male Orgasm. This has no relevancy for Frequency of sexual expression or sexual intercourse. Both the 20-year-old and 60-year-old male may be enjoying the erotic sensations of sexuality daily, though enabling orgasmic climax much differently. Participation in sexual activities WITHOUT climaxing can be weakening for one's emotional and physical health unless there is a most evolved dynamic of self-regulation and self-limitation. This principle is seldom taught nor even recognized through much of modern human society.

A Positive Strategy for moderating male-female testosterone levels into an optimal balance is as follows. The male recognizes that his libido will remain more constant and more strong if he exercises his LIBIDO more often than his climaxing. He also recognizes that he may be more often involved sexually in this way by focusing on the sensual aspects of emotion and the sensual aspects of physical sharing.

Physical Sharing can include involvement in body massage, calm and respectful communication, romantic expressions, oral stimulation, aromatherapy, and, the pleasures of working with one's hands. All of this can include the preparation and use of food. ALL must be engaged in WITHOUT rush, intensity, or interruption. Most participants in structured societies are a long, long, long way from this balance. Unfortunately, their politics and commercial institutions highly distract them AWAY from this lifestyle. The emphasis is to keep you anxiously and fearfully running .. for a lifestyle most humans will never have, and, to pay the taxes to ensure actions which will further prevent others from those lifestyle benefits, and frustrate our own ability to reach and maintain such. The political promise too often is to help others by making them need what we want, yet don't need.

As we mature and assume adult roles and expectations, the expression of the libido of both men and women tends toward activities other than sexual expression. Involvement in activities where we are "joining in", assisting others (facilitating, mentoring, teaching, protecting, training, supervising, managing, politics, parenting, acting), also utilize libido energies and benefit from the presence of testosterone. There is a difference, however, between the influence of the presence of testosterone and its being used up, and/or excreted. In the sexual climax, testosterone is biochemically utilized and excreted, though only partially as part of the male or female sexual fluids. Unless intense emotional and physical activity is present in our expression of other libido driven roles, a similar proportion of testosterone is not bound and excreted as during sexual climaxing.

In most encouraged adult roles, emotional intensity is not beneficial to the effectiveness of the role. Indeed, it is largely self-sabotaging. It presents oneself as selfish, intolerant, abusive, and violent. There are few adult roles in which this form of behavior is rewarded with the exception of the non technical combatant in war, fighting contests, and, political activist. Unpopular, and usually penalized expressions of immature libido-testosterone include that of serial killer, murderer, rapist, terrorist, paranoid schizophrenic, and other persons deemed to have "anger management" problems. Love (in its broadest meaning), acceptance, mentoring, spiritual awareness, social skill development, and encouragement in the positive expression of testosterone influence and political expression are antidotes to immature expressions. These are unevenly balanced in the ever more complicated, challenging, and stress building environment of modern humanity.

Human history is drenched with examples of tragedy built upon an ignorance of the benefits, weaknesses, balancing dynamics, and nature of testosterone balance in its membership. Most often, this transpires as males remaining emotionally immature until they have benefited from numerous emotionally tragic mistakes. We euphemize this as "growing up" in societies which maintain ignorance, denial, guilt, and pride regarding sexuality, personal freedom, and interpersonal respect. That is, we are enabled to remain emotionally immature, and irresponsible, by a culture driven by a leadership which is emotionally immature and irresponsible. All authority structures and most religious expressions encourage this confinement of Power. They demand of you your libido for their aggregation and pleasure for your membership. Their frequent tragic misuse of this Power comprise much of human history.

If YOU want the Past to change, that change must begin with YOU!
Waiting for the authorities, leaders, managers, and owners to do the RIGHT thing, is playing the role of dependent, slave, victim. Such roles have seldom been graced with Sharing, Equality, Freedom, and Love .. by their immature HUMAN masters. YOU must become the leader of your own life. YOU must become the activist within your own family. YOU can become part of the positive changes in the organizations you are a member of: religious, social, political. If you do not, you are affirming that the FAILURES of authority structures which continue to deny, berate, and avoid you, as a person with CFS-ME, are justified. You are enabling those institutions to marginal, abuse, and even kill (through abandonment, misprescription, and despair) persons whom THEY have enabled to become, and remain, afflicted with CFS-ME.
Justice begins with YOU.

6. Immunity references.

The following is a Summary of QUOTES from the notes included in an earlier document posted on my Earthtym.net site.

HGH replacement improves body composition and quality of life as soon as 1 month after commencement. Most importantly these changes occur without side-effects. Increased levels of HGH have a positive effect by increasing muscle mass, stimulating fat loss, improving skin texture, improving exercise tolerance, increasing bone density, improving sleep quality and helping mental processes.

... Growth hormone is released during periods of deep sleep.
So, the lack of deep sleep may be a major cause of growth hormone deficiency, especially in fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Natural remedies such as The Revitalizing Sleep Formula by Integrative Therapeutics, 5-HTP or tryptophan, calcium and magnesium at bedtime, and melatonin (1/2mg) can be very effective for sleep.

In humans, testosterone reduces blood pressure and enhances relaxation of brachial arteries; direct injection into coronary arteries produces dilatation and increased coronary blood flow.

Testosterone deficiency is likely to contribute to the weakness and fatigue of CHF which constitute a major aspect of the morbidity. Androgen therapy could potentially improve patient well-being by combating this. ... Testosterone has been found to increase IGF-1 levels and reduce hyperinsulinaemia and insulin resistance.

Testosterone is best termed The Natural Anabolic Steroid, or TNAS. ...
The major site of production is the adrenal gland.
...

It is interesting to note that cancer cells use sixty percent anaerobic metabolism. Anaerobic conditions may be a significant risk factor for cancer. The fact is, in normal cells both types of metabolism are going on at all times, but the experience of vital, normal health requires that aerobic metabolism predominate. That is where TNAS comes in.

TNAS is the primary balancing hormone which maintains aerobic metabolism as the major source of energy for the body. When TNAS levels fall, anaerobic metabolism is used in proportion to the fallen level of TNAS.

(By the way, you can know that your body has shifted toward anaerobic metabolism if you crave sweets. Sugar is the fuel source of anaerobic metabolism.) ...

In normal metabolism there is a balance between protein synthesis and breakdown. TNAS encourages protein synthesis, and an adrenal hormone named "cortisol" (hydrocortisone) acts antagonistically and encourages the breakdown of protein. The breakdown of protein also is encouraged through chronic tension and anxiety (as many underweight worriers can tell you) through the production of the catecholamines — adrenalin and noradrenalin (also called "epinephrine" and "norepinephrine"). Stress raises both cortisol and catecholamine levels and, if stress becomes constant, the hormonal balance between TNAS, cortisol and the catecholamine is upset. Indeed, this balance is upset by the aging process itself, by the decreased production of TNAS and the increased production of the catecholamines, which occurs with age. ...

The most common medications that put a damper on sex include antidepressants, which inhibit arousal and orgasm; anti-inflammatories, which also hamper orgasm; ulcer medications, which lessen desire; and birth control pills, which limit desire and decrease lubrication. Diuretics and anti-anxiety drugs may have this side-effect also.

Until now experts have agreed that sexual dysfunction in women was illustrated by low levels of free and total testosterone. However this study has shown low testosterone bears no relationship to low libido in women under 45 years of age.

"We found a strong relationship between the low scores for desire, arousal and responsiveness and low DHEAS levels in women under 45, " said Professor Davis.

[Low] DHEA levels ... means adrenal gland fatigue ... Chronic stress and poor diet, primarily.

7. The Importance of Testosterone Balance.

What you don't know can destroy your Life Style.
What is worse than a dependable, pleasurable, productive, shared, respected, active Quality of Life? Everything! Yes, when you begin to lose the above, the losses are easy to multiply. If you make no effort to stop the bleeding, it may increase from a red stain to a flow. It can confuse, annoy, frustrate, frighten, and depress you. As someone who has had CFS-ME, for me, even worse is a Reality in which YOUR level of testosterone presence noticeably varies from an apparent nil, to average, to nil, to average, to nil, nil, average, nil. In such a reality, you cannot have ANY certainty about yourself, or, for any commitment made, or desired.

ALL of the above can be jeopardized by the results of unstable hormone levels. You don't think so. Really? Think about it. If you have CFS-ME, you have either already thought about it and gathered together constructive coping skills to preserve as much as you can, and is positive, OR, you have lost, or are losing these. If you are reading this, and it is not too late, you may gather an awareness in time to save some of what you have and build something new and stronger. If it is already too late to preserve what you HAD, you may still have time and options to clean up and away that Past, AND, begin building a stronger Future.

Whatever HAS happened to the above commitments, for YOU, stop assuming that the result was all THEIR fault. It likely wasn't. As the saying goes, "It takes two ...." No commitment is composed of One. If your commitment involved abuse and fear, there had to be an abuser and a victim. If it involved dependency, there had to be a taker and a giver. Indeed, there is sometimes a duo in which each person takes something they want from the other person and gives back what they are willing to give, and, what the other person is willing to take, in return for their participation. If any of your commitments is/has failed, it will be more positive to consider what the errors and weaknesses were and what a more positive relationship would require of YOU. Whatever happens in the Future, for YOU, the common participant will be YOU.

Friendships and sharing can be strained by decreases in one's testosterone level, or instabilities of it. A healthy or high testosterone level ENABLES you to share actively, even aggressively. You are not waiting to see what the other person is going to do. And, when others open the door to you, you are often joyful to see them and invite them in. Yes, you read it correctly. They open THEIR door. You open YOURS. There is a context of Give AND Take. With low testosterone levels, you may seem to run hot and cold with your friends. You were always in the party before. Now, the party doesn't seem to be important any more. Does that mean that your friends are no longer valued? If you are never IN their lives, how can you be a Friend?

Enemies are a commitment we tend to cherish, hide, and deny.
If we HATE someone, individual or group, race or religion, food or insect ... we have agreed to a reactive belief. We want to respond to them ALWAYS as if the reason or memory we associate with them provides enough sanction for us to want the worst for them we can imagine: pain, suffering, rejection, loss, distance from us (because we are so Great), illness, accident, death. We may do our best to avoid our enemies. We may be very proficient at doing so. What we sacrifice is the possibility that that OTHER person or group may change their actions and minds, their beliefs and attitudes. It is one thing to hate, yet another very different to Dislike. Hating our Reptilian Structure for not providing us with enough testosterone, will encourage IT to be weaker and produce even LESS, as it is being required by smart us to devote more energy and resources to the hormones supporting HATE, than to testosterone production.

Spouses have a real challenge, in most societies, when their partner either loses what has been a stronger testosterone presence, or, has their level of libido and testosterone vary greatly from hour to hour. If either partner is immature emotionally, "What about ME?" will be buried here, or, leave. Ignorance can foster misunderstandings, rejection, separation, intolerance, and, abuse. More relationships survive by way of expression of compassion, forgiveness, acknowledgement, patience. It isn't the testosterone balance which is so important as it is the commitment which can lead to solutions to address an imbalance.

Religion can be a real eye opener when your testosterone plummets.
It can be a HUGE support, or, a HUGE divider, or, anything in-between. What does YOUR religion mandate for you to do when you lose your job and cannot continue the level of givings that you have earlier? What does it mandate for your spouse when your partner asks the priest or minister what they can best do for someone like you, who doesn't seem to love you anymore? What do they mandate when others in the congregation begin to suggest quietly that you may have a mental stability problem and should be reported to .... ? What does your religion mandate when you convey that you are becoming confused, irritable, tired, anxious .. ALL the Time? If your religion encourages you to have Faith and DO, you may Recover.

Membership is a commitment we earn, request, are offered, and/or graced with. It is often planned. It often has very detailed rituals of participation, payment, and reward. Membership can strengthen our reality and fantasies of security, acceptance, encouragement. If our testosterone level plummets, and stays DOWN, we may be unable to easily attend and participate in meetings, conferences, ceremonies, celebrations, and trainings. We were likely once enjoying our interactions with the other members. Now, our horsepower which could previously carry us forward effortlessly in the parade, or sustain us through long discussions and debates ... is spent. The gas and feed which once made the voyage a pleasure has now disappeared and the ship is drawing down to a stop. And we don't understand WHY!?

Testosterone Balance can benefit from many factors which WE can exercise Choice over. Most of us are unaware of these and unprepared to participate in our own Quality of Life realization. YOU are no longer that unfortunate. YOU are now much more aware, in many cases, than you were about the loss than can derive from hormonal imbalances. You are aware that there are ways that you can evaluate and confirm YOUR relative testosterone level. You are also aware of sources which can maintain and encourage a balance in your hormone levels. You fully understand the dangers of NOT taking the time and NOT devoting the energy to ensuring that THIS support be as well managed, in this historical reality of acute changes and uncertainties, as is possible. With YOUR conscious assistance, YOU can be happier.

8. Disaster Relief.

There are some health problems which can be suggested, indicated, or confirmed through the results of a testosterone test. If a level of imbalance is found, there may be time remaining to treat a serious health problems before it becomes acute, or, fatal.

      Decreased levels of testosterone can indicate:
    • severe immune distress, such as CFS-ME,
    • increased cortisone release, from stress;
    • severe immune depression, such as heavy metal toxicity,
    • drugs, diet, lack of exercise, too much exercise,
    • liver burden (parasites), disease, or injury,
    • genetic diseases, often triggered at maturity,
    • hypothalamic or pituitary disease,
    • impaired production because of acquired damage to the testes, such as alcoholism, physical injury, or viral diseases like mumps.

The AGE at which symptoms appear, their persistency, and their duration .. can often contribute to an informal discernment of whether there has been an acquired reduced level, an imposed level of impairment, or, a significant biological or toxicological interference. A relative suddenness (days or weeks) of decrease can encourage you to consider the possibility of a recent injury involving the testes or head, a heavy metals toxicity, CFS-ME or other severe chronic illness or combo, or, exposure to a major viral attack. More gradual decreases are often only noticed after a long duration (months or years) of declining levels accompanied by very gradual intensification of symptoms. At some point, often through a conscious reflection on NOW vs PAST, a shock of awareness will present.
Don't Panic.
Don't let Fears threaten you.
Test!

      Increased levels of testosterone can indicate:
    • hyperthyroidism,
    • early puberty in boys,
    • use of androgens (anabolic steroids),
    • drugs, diet, supplements,
    • hereditary adrenal irregularities,
    • testicular tumors,
    • adrenal tumors,
    • polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

Does testosterone level really matter!?
Almost half the testosterone in our systems is strongly bound to protein, mostly a sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). Most of the rest is weakly attached to albumin. It is often found that only 1 to 2 percent of our testosterone is freely available in our fluids. What is termed "bioavailable" includes the Free variety and the weakly bound one. Yet it is only the small percentage of Free testosterone which interacts with cellular hormone receptors and can stimulate sexual interest, arousal, erection, pleasure, and climax. Only 1 to 2%. Yet "free" testosterone seems to be transmuted out of the cells more if our adrenals are excited within a context of EMOTIONAL orgasmic Joy. Feeling a great sense of excitement about a personal success, including experiencing a sexual orgasm, as well as the sexual anticipation and expectation of an uncommitted romantic seem to trigger a greater release of Free T.

What does this mean to the person with CFS-ME?
Perhaps it means this. There is a great and constant "excitement" being experienced by the adrenals of such a person. EVERYTHING physical is depressed. This makes what was once "normal" activities, alertness, participation, and sharing .. impossible. Many persons who acquire CFS-ME are accustomed to participation and achievement; to self-direction and confidence. For such a person, holding back is not easy. For a time, there may be much emotional effort expressed making efforts to be active. For a Reptilian Structure which is so distracted, this high motivation series of alerts is little different than mounting an attack, or, a defence. In an earlier healthier state, this arousal would have felt Exciting!

To the degree that the person is constipated, every bathroom activity can result in a pelvic pressure to pass stool which stimulates the tissues of the rectum and anus. This can also lead to a stimulation of the prostate in men, just like what would be happening while they are rising in sexual stimulation towards an orgasm. The orgasm doesn't happen, and there is a repeated cool-down stage. This pattern can repeatedly signal to our Reptilian Structure NOT to release more free testosterone. It is as if we are signaling to IT that we cannot make use of what IS available, so, reduce the supply ... keep more of it bound. Perhaps some similar dynamic happens with women.

More frequent sexual stimulation in men has been known for decades to raise the libido. As the demand rises, yet stays constant, the ability of the male to respond also rises. Later, as the frequency of demand may fall, with a different partner, through boredom with the current partner, or, through the absence of opportunity, so also does the free testosterone available level. The same may happen through other patterns of excitment. An occupation which regularly provides high risk may develop a pattern of testosterone availability such that if the risks diminish in frequency, others may be sought to replace them. Once a PATTERN stabilizes, it may become almost addictive. Disruption of this pattern, without grieving an emotional separation can result in a transference to some other acting out activity.

Exerting our free testosterone and our libido in efforts to stay alive, as in CFS-ME, may leave little or none to provide a basis for sexual interest, arousal, or ability. It is not that the person has fallen out-of-love with their sexual partner, or even with sexuality. It is more likely that their Reptilian Structure, whose life purpose is to keep them PHYSICALLY alive, has taken on the Alertness/Excitement of a constant Life-and-Death immunity struggle whose side effects add in apparent social, work, intimacy, emotional, and even spiritual Life-and-Death struggles. Simplistically, the CFS-ME afflicted person may have an unconscious choice: sexual intimacy, or, life!?

Enlargement of the Prostate can happen with men who have CFS-ME.
This only happens when there is too much Bound Testosterone in the system. And, a side symptom of an enlarged prostate is sexual dysfunction mirroring a deficiency of Free testosterone. Perhaps these apparent opposites can exist together. We do know that elevated estrogen levels can shut off testosterone building activities and lead to a decrease in T levels. Held in this state long enough, and our Reptilian Structure will simply set a new, and lower, threshold, as "normal."

Estrogen levels can be a significant contributor to variations in testosterone presence and availability. Low estrogen levels usually signal for more Leutenizing Hormone (LH) to be released ... which then responds with requests for more testosterone AND estrogen. Conversely, High estrogen levels would be signaling for a reduction in testosterone levels, even if, current levels were already low. Why would individuals be acquiring higher than normal levels of estrogen?

    Contributors to estrogen level elevation include these:

  1. Lifestyle: inflammation
    • Stress: reduces progesterone which limits estrogen levels.
    • Anxiety: reduces progesterone which limits estrogen levels.
    • excessive weight/insulin resistance
    • excessive alcohol intake
    • Industrial concentrations
    • drugs

  2. Enhanced immune response: inflammation
    • Mycoplasma infections
    • Bacteria
    • Fungi
    • Amoebic
    • Viruses
    • Worms
    • Vasectomy (sperm antibodies)
    • Tubal ligation (egg antibodies)
    • other parasites
  3. Reduced immune response:
    • egg release from ovaries
    • Pregnancy
    • contraceptive pills
    • steroid use
    • transplant drugs
    • liver impairment
    • large birth weight
    • premature birth arriaval
  4. Toxicity:
    • Heavy metals
    • Neurotoxins (fish)
    • Neurotoxins (insects)
    • Neurotoxins (plants)
    • Un-Natural concentrations ++
    • Xenoestrogens in petroleum products, including plastics, soaps, cremes, shampoos, adhesives found in paint removers, nail polish, and glues along with car exhaust, petrochemically derived pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides solvents, pesticides and pesticide residues in foods, commercially raised meats,
  5. Supplementation: to lower testosterone.
    • isoflavones
    • Saw Palmetto
    • Zinc
    • Magnesium
    • B6 vitamin
  6. Isolation of Toxins: **
    • Absesses
    • Boils
    • Cysts
    • Tumors
    • Hypothyroidism
    • Cirrhosis of the liver
    • Appendicitis
    • fluid retention/edema
    • excessive fat accumulation

++ Un-Natural concentrations.
These are sensed presences which have a much higher density than is encountered in an environment which is neither commercialized or industrialized. Hypersensitivities and allergies may develop from traumatic exposures which are perceived to be life threatening by our Reptilian Structure. Weeds do not typically grow in concentrations in the wild. They are encouraged to do so in cultivated fields. The individual is not exposed to grain flours and dusts in frequent and high concentrations in their home. A baker is, and may develop a reaction to flours.

** Isolation of Toxins.
The body sometimes cannot easily expel or discharge toxins.
As a second defence, it builds a wall around them to hold them apart from the rest of the body. It may make an effort to excrete them yet find that they are too large or cumbersome to complete the journey past a specific organ. It may then "pocket" these toxins and parasites in this organ. This often will increasingly sacrifice the effectiveness and efficiency of this organ, until, the organ either fails, the offensive rubbish container is surgically removed, or, specialized herbs and other biochemicals are used to carry out, or drive out, the poisons.

SUMMARY:
If you have CFS-ME, recognize that you must address the major health issues which are in your Package of Illnesses, first. If you do not, those factors will sabotage any efforts you make to normalize your testosterone levels.

Estrogen raising factors, above, singularly or in combination, can contribute to a lowering of testosterone levels. Reduce your exposure to these factors if you wish to have a more constant and healthy hormone level.

Balance your Sources and Antagonists so that you are not experiencing symptoms of Excess or Deficiency.

Stabilize your intimate sexual and passionate occupational activities. Make and build commitments whenever possible. On a health basis, it is better to have a sexual commitment to one person, or, to no one but yourself, than to have a continual variability of involvements. A division of passions tends to raise fears, anxieties, anger, frustration, and other constricting emotions ... ALL of which endanger testosterone-estrogen health levels. At best, one may be able to balance an intimate human relationship with a passionate career of joining in.

Increased levels are.
What they signify is for you to determine.
They may indicate something with little or a lot of significance.
Better to know WHAT it means so that you have a Choice, if required, to maintain or improve your health. Remember ...
Relevancy establishes the Truth of the Future.

Dihydrotestoerone reduces prostate size.
Low testosterone levels increase the risk of prostate cancer.
Testosterone replacement reduces risk of diabetes
Testosterone supplementation increased working memory in men.
Testosterone replacement is more effective than antidepressants for depression.
Testosterone replacement speeds healing and results in shortened hospital stays.
Testosterone levels correlates w/& TTN replacement improves cognitive function.
Low testosterone assoc. w/ fatigue & TTN replacement increases sense of well being.
Testosterone replacement reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease by preventing the production of beta amyloid precursor protein.

Testosterone replacement is better than exercise to reduce body fat, gain lean muscle and improve strength and effects of testosterone are improved with exercise.

Testosterone is a hormone produced by the testes, ovaries, and adrenal glands.
As we age, testosterone production slows down and the body has a decrease in the amount of free testosterone that is available in the bloodstream. The normal level of testosterone in your bloodstream is between 350 and 1,000 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl). Like hair, those quantities silently start to wane around age 40. You lose about 1 percent a year -- a harmless decline in the short term, but a cause of obesity, brittle bones, muscle loss and impotence in men, and loss of libido in women, by the time you reach your 60s -- if you live that long. Testosterone levels in the low range (a blood serum score below 350 ng/dl) may increase your chances of dying of a heart attack.

It's not just an old man's problem, either.
Men in their 30s and 40s also fall prey to low testosterone counts.
It's a disorder called hypogonadism, and it can be caused by an undescended testicle, a testicular injury, a pituitary gland disorder or even prescription drugs. It usually goes undiagnosed until a man hits his doctor with a telltale complaint: "I can't get an erection."

"If you have reduced levels of sexual desire, have your testosterone level checked immediately," says Dr. Allen Seftel, a urologist at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals of Cleveland. "For men and women with borderline testosterone scores, I advise them to try to raise their levels through exercise and weight loss before going on testosterone therapy," says Dr. Goldberg. And it might pay to start young. "Since your testosterone declines at a steady rate, it's conceivable that raising your hormone levels naturally in your 20s and 30s could help you maintain higher levels later on," he says. Either way, the reward can be a stronger physique and better bedroom sessions than you'd otherwise deserve.

Testosterone is very important to a woman, too.
Women produce increased amounts of this hormone in puberty, because testosterone is the precursor to estrogen. Without testosterone, there would be no "woman." Testosterone in women increases the libido, clear thinking, and overall feelings of wellbeing. As a woman approaches menopause, more effects from testosterone deficiency begin to become apparent.

The ovaries produce the majority of testosterone and estrogens.
With the cessation of 80% of hormonal production, a perimenopausal woman suffers from estrogen, progesterone and testosterone deficiency. And, the replacement of estrogen alone will not correct an absent sex drive, loss of muscle tone and general lack of mental get-up-and-go.

In both men and women as they age, the ability to produce testosterone declines.
This decrease in testosterone production is sometimes referred to as andropause or 'male menopause.' These reduced levels of testosterone can cause a variety of problems including the inability to maintain all of your muscle mass. If testosterone levels fall below the normal range some typical symptoms may include:

    • sexual dysfunction
    • depression
    • fatigue
    • lack of energy
    • irritability and mood swings
    • loss of strength or muscle mass
    • increased body fat
    • hot flashes

Aging and lifestyle factors such as stress, improper diet, physical inactivity, smoking, drinking and the use of prescription medications can significantly reduce these levels.

There are several ways to increase your testosterone levels naturally to help you look and feel better. Here are steps to increase your testosterone naturally:

1. Eat grass-fed beef instead of commercially raised beef.
Commercially raised animals are fed growth-stimulating hormones, antibiotics and processed grains. While the protein and zinc in organic grass-fed beef will help in maintaining optimum testosterone levels in men, the hormones used in industrial beef will increase estrogen production and lower testosterone levels. Various combinations of hormones, estradiol, progesterone, and testosterone, and the synthetic hormones, zeranol and trenbolone acetate, may be given to cattle during their growing cycle. Another hormone, melengesterol acetate, may also be added to cattle feed to "improve weight gain and feed efficiency."

When humans eat this drug and hormone-tainted beef, measurable amounts of hormones are transferred to humans. Some researchers warn that human consumption of estrogen from hormone-drugged beef can result in cancer, premature puberty and falling sperm counts.

"Protein" in Latin means "above all else."
Adequate protein is a dietary necessity as it stimulates testosterone release, and it's also the fundamental building block for muscle repair and growth. Beef is an excellent source of protein and vitamin B12. It's a very good source of zinc and selenium.

2. Eat more zinc and foods containing zinc.
Many people can restore proper testosterone levels through zinc alone.
Zinc deficiency is also associated with decreased serum testosterone levels. But of all the minerals found in the body, zinc is the most crucial for testosterone production. Zinc deficiency is very common in the U.S. population, especially among athletes and the aged. Not only is zinc absent in most commercially-processed foods, it can be depleted from the body by alcohol and many prescription medications including diuretics. Red meat, especially grass-fed meat, is high in zinc, as well as seafood - especially oysters.

Vitamins A, E, C and B6 and zinc are all used by the body in converting prohormones to testosterone. Eating more vegetables is essential in testosterone production; especially green, leafy and cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Swiss chard, Brussels sprouts, green leafy lettuce and cabbage. These vegetables contain phytochemicals essential for healthy metabolism of estrogen in both men and women.

3. Essential fats such as the Omega 3 fatty acids (found in grass-fed meat),
and saturated fats, are essential for normal testosterone production. Foods containing cholesterol (yes its GOOD for you!), are excellent, so eating egg yolks will increase cholesterol. All steroid hormones are produced from cholesterol and when fats are deficient in the diet, this process will be inhibited. Studies clearly indicate that low fat diets result in lower testosterone levels. Those higher in protein, lower in carbohydrate, and moderate in fat contribute most to the greatest sustained levels of testosterone.

4. Limit your intake of refined, high-carbohydrate foods.
These include simple sugars such as cookies, candy and ice cream; and starches such as breads, potatoes and pasta. Excess intake of these carbohydrates raise blood sugar rapidly, creating chronically elevated levels of the hormones insulin and cortisol. These two hormones oppose the action of testosterone and diminish its production.

5. Losing weight will help to restore testosterone production.
In both men and women, fat cells breed aromatase. Aromatase is the enzyme responsible for converting estrogen into testosterone. Fat cells also store excessive levels of estrogen, harmful to both men and women. As you loose weight your ability to convert testosterone to estrogen will diminish, so should the symptom of menopause or male menopause.

6. For both men and women, lift weights in addition to cardio exercise.
Lifting heavy weights will stimulate testosterone release, while excessive cardio will decrease testosterone. Incorporate basic movements that involve several muscle groups in your training routine. Great compound movements are barbell squats, dead lifts, and military presses. These basic core exercises have been shown to play an important role in testosterone levels.

The greatest workout-related testosterone production occurs with the use of heavier weights and lower rep range. A study shows that the best is 85 per cent of your one-rep max. Make sure to train with high intensity for short periods of time. Your overall weight training workout should not last longer than 60 minutes (45 min is optimal). Train hard and get out of the gym to let your muscles recuperate and grow!

Rest Harder Than You Work Out.
If you overtrain -- meaning you don't allow your body to recuperate adequately between training sessions -- your circulating testosterone levels can plunge by as much as 40 percent, according to a study at the University of North Carolina. The symptoms of overtraining are hard to miss: irritability, insomnia, muscle shrinkage, joining the Reform Party. To avoid overtraining, make sure you sleep a full eight hours at night, and never stress the same muscles with weight-lifting movements two days in a row.

If you follow the above guidelines you may find a decrease in your symptoms without having to resort to injections, patches or pellets. If you see no change in your symptoms, you may need to visit the Doctor to get your hormone levels checked. Both men and women, especially those in their 40's and 50's, may find that free testosterone levels need an extra boost.
