Arsenic appears in three allotropic forms: yellow, black and grey; the stable form is a silver-gray, brittle crystalline solid. It tarnishes rapidly in air, and at high temperatures burns forming a white cloud of arsenic trioxide. Arsenic is a member of group Va of the periodic table, which combines readily with many elements.
The metallic form is brittle, tarnishes and when heated it rapidly oxidizes to arsenic trioxide, which has a garlic odor. The non metallic form is less reactive but will dissolve when heated with strong oxidizing acids and alkalis.
Applications
Arsenic compounds are used in making special types of glass, as a wood preservative and, lately, in the semiconductor gallium arsenade, which has the ability to convert electric current to laser light. Arsine gas AsH3, has become an important dopant gas in the microchip industry, although it requires strict guidelines regarding its use because it is extremely toxic.
During the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, a number of arsenic compounds have been used as medicines; copper acetoarsenite was used as a green pigment known under many different names.
Arsenic in the environment
Arsenic can be found naturally on earth in small concentrations.
It occurs in soil and minerals and it may enter air, water and land through wind-blown dust and water run-off.
Arsenic in the atmosphere comes from various sources: volcanoes release about 3000 tonnes per year and microorganisms release volatile methylarsines to the extent of 20.000 tonnes per year, but human activity is responsible for much more: 80.000 tonnes of arsenic per year are released by the burning of fossil fuels.
Despite its notoriety as a deadly poison, arsenic is an essential trace element for some animals, and maybe even for humans, although the necessary intake may be as low as 0.01 mg/day.
Arsenic is a component that is extremely hard to convert to water-soluble or volatile products.
The fact that arsenic is naturally a fairly a mobile component, basically means that large concentrations are not likely to appear on one specific site. This is a good thing, but the negative site to it is that arsenic pollution becomes a wider issue because it easily spreads. Arsenic cannot be mobilized easily when it is immobile. Due to human activities, mainly through mining and smelting, naturally immobile arsenics have also mobilized and can now be found on many more places than where they existed naturally.
A little uncombined arsenic occurs naturally as microcrystalline masses, found in Siberia, Germany, France, Italy, Romania and in the USA. Most arsenic is found in conjuction with sulfur in minerals such as arsenopyrite (AsFeS), realgar, orpiment and enargite. None is mined as such because it is produced as a by-product of refining the ores of other metals, such as copper and lead. World production of arsenic, in the form of its oxide, is around 50.000 tonnes per year, far in excess of that required by industry. China is the chief exporting country, followed by Chile and Mexico. World resources of arsenic in copper and lead ores exceed 10 million tonnes.
The main source of arsenic (for human toxicity) is from conventional (non-organic) chickens.
It is added to chicken feed around the world because it makes chickens grow 50% faster, vastly reducing the cost of raising the chickens since they bulk up faster. Additionally, arsenic is added to some commercial chicken feed to kill certain molds and fungi that afflict chickens, especially those raised in filthy conventional operations. It then shows up in the chicken meat itself, including the eggs. It can even find its way into all conventional pig products, as they are fed chicken “byproducts".
Arsenic can also be found in:
- Beer
- Burning of arsenate-treated building materials
- Coal combustion
- Commercial chicken feed
- Contaminated good
- Conventionally raised poultry
- Cosmetics
- Drinking water
- Fungicides
- Glass and mirror manufacturing
- Insecticides
- Paints
- Pesticides (and even on our food)
- Pigments
- Soil
- Rice and rice products
- Seafood from coaster waters (especially oysters and shrimp)
- Table Salt (where it is used as a non-caking agent)
- Tap water
- Wood preservatives / treated wood

20xx--Arsenic%20Toxicity%20-%20Liveto110_files/a.html
Arsenic is one of the most toxic elements that can be found.
Despite their toxic effect, inorganic arsenic bonds occur on earth naturally in small amounts.
Humans may be exposed to arsenic through food, water and air.
Exposure may also occur through skin contact with soil or water that contains arsenic.
Levels of arsenic in food are fairly low, as it is not added due to its toxicity.
But levels of arsenic in fish and seafood may be high, because fish absorb arsenic from the water they live in. Luckily this is mainly the fairly harmless organic form of arsenic, but fish that contain significant amounts of inorganic arsenic may be a danger to human health.
Arsenic exposure may be higher for people that work with arsenic, for people that live in houses that contain conserved wood of any kind and for those who live on farmlands where arsenic-containing pesticides have been applied in the past.
Exposure to inorganic arsenic can cause various health effects, such as
- irritation of the stomach and intestines,
- decreased production of red and white blood cells,
- skin changes and lung irritation.
It is suggested that the uptake of significant amounts of inorganic arsenic can intensify the chances of cancer development, especially the chances of development of
skin cancer,
lung cancer,
liver cancer and
lymphatic cancer.
A very high exposure to inorganic arsenic can cause
- infertility and
- miscarriages with women, and it can cause
- skin disturbances,
- declined resistance to infections,
- heart disruptions and
- brain damage with both men and women.
- ... can damage DNA.
A lethal dose of arsenic oxide is generally regarded as 100 mg.
Organic arsenic can cause neither cancer, nor DNA damage.
But exposure to high doses may cause certain effects to human health, such as nerve injury and stomachaches.
Arsenic is a very potent mitochondrial poison that saps your energy.
You will never have the energy you desire as long as you are arsenic toxic.
Arsenic toxicity causes rather vague symptoms that can slowly poison an individual, even leading to death.
Fortunately, with today’s technology found in hair mineral analysis, it is easy to identify the presence of this toxic metal and detox your body from this dangerous element!

The arsenic cycle has broadened as a consequence of human interference and due to this, large amounts of arsenic end up in the environment and in living organisms. Arsenic is mainly emitted by the copper producing industries, but also during lead and zinc production and in agriculture. It cannot be destroyed once it has entered the environment, so that the amounts that we add can spread and cause health effects to humans and animals on many locations on earth.
Plants absorb arsenic fairly easily, so that high-ranking concentrations may be present in food.
The concentrations of the dangerous inorganic arsenics that are currently present in surface waters enhance the chances of alteration of genetic materials of fish. This is mainly caused by accumulation of arsenic in the bodies of plant-eating freshwater organisms. Birds eat the fish that already contain eminent amounts of arsenic and will die as a result of arsenic poisoning as the fish is decomposed in their bodies.

The major route of elimination for arsenic is urine, so this (test) result is reflective of both body burden and recent intake of/exposure to arsenic. It is relatively easy to be exposed to arsenic as it was widely used in the past as a pesticide/rodenticide, and in some areas, the groundwater has relatively high levels of arsenic.
Dust from burning of coal contains arsenic; therefore, arsenic is widely dispersed in the environment. Arsenic can be high in crustaceans and fish living in contaminated water, also in fruits and vegetables grown in contaminated areas.
The forms of arsenic commonly found in shellfish are thought to be nontoxic (arsenobetaine and arsenochollene) and are eliminated readily in urine. If seafood is being consumed once or twice a week, and arsenic excretion has a yellow bar, this is probably not a cause for concern.
Commercially raised pigs and poultry are given arsenic containing feed additives (e.g. roxarsone), and the element may concentrate in their flesh, especially the liver.
Rice is notorious for being contaminated with arsenic; rice pablum is an easily overlooked potential source of exposure. Pressure treated lumber used for fencing, playground structures and deck construction may have been treated with arsenic containing wood preservative (chromated copper arsenate). Running barefoot or climbing on this type of treated wood can lead to exposure. Maternal-fetal transfer of arsenic also takes place.
Supplementation with betaine hydrochloride or anhydrous betaine might also elevate urinary secretion of arsenobetaine.
Summary of symptoms:
- pain,

- anemia,
- eczema,

- GI complaints,
- peripheral neuropathy,
- loss of pigmentation,
- skin changes,
- hair loss,

- impaired cognitive development,
- poor tolerance of carbohydrates
Toxic elements, like arsenic, replace nutrient minerals in enzyme binding sites.
When this occurs, the metals inhibit, over-stimulate, or otherwise alter thousands of enzymes.
An affected enzyme may operate at 5% of normal activity. This may contribute to many health conditions.
Toxic metals may also replace other substances in other tissue structures.
The replacement weakens these tissues, such as the arteries, joints, bones and muscles.
Toxic metals may also simply deposit in many sites, causing local irritation and other toxic effects.
Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has linked arsenic exposure to high blood pressure and the New York University School of Medicine cites it as a contributor to cardiovascular disease. Also, most toxic chemicals adversely affect the male reproductive system and arsenic is one of them; Chinese research has confirmed it reduces semen quality.

The primary routes of arsenic entry into the body are ingestion and inhalation.
Dermal absorption also occurs, but to a lesser extent.
The half-life of inorganic arsenic in humans is about 10 hours [Rossman 2007].
Arsenic undergoes biomethylation in the liver.
Approximately 70% of arsenic is excreted, mainly in urine [Rossman 2007].
Arsenic is excreted in the urine; most of a single, low-level dose is excreted within a few days after ingestion.
For soluble trivalent arsenic compounds, approximately 95% of the ingested dose is absorbed from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract [Rossman 2007].
Airborne arsenic in the workplace is generally in the form of arsenic trioxide [Ishinishi et al. 1986].
The amount of arsenic absorbed by inhalation has not been determined precisely, but it is thought to be within 60% to 90% [Yip and Dart 2001]. Smaller particles are deposited more deeply in the respiratory tract.
Dermal absorption is generally negligible, although toxic systemic effects have resulted from rare occupational accidents where either arsenic trichloride or arsenic acid was splashed on workers' skin.
Distribution.
After absorption through the lungs or GI tract, arsenic is widely distributed by the blood throughout the body. [ATSDR 2007]
Most tissues rapidly clear arsenic, except for skin, hair, and nails [Lansdown 1995].
Two to four weeks after exposure ceases, most of the arsenic remaining in the body is found in keratin-rich tissues such as
- hair,
- nails,
- skin, and
- to a lesser extent, in bones and teeth [Yip and Dart 2001].
Arsenic is absorbed into the blood stream at the cellular level and is taken up by
- red blood cells,
- white blood cells, and
- other cells that reduce arsenate to arsenite [Winski and Carter 1995; Wang et al. 1996].
Metabolism.
Reduction of arsenate (As V) to arsenite (As III) is needed before methylation can occur.
This reaction requires glutathione (GSH) [Miller et al. 2002; Vahter et al. 1983].
A portion of arsenite (As III) is methylated in the liver by enzymatic transfer of the methyl group from S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) to methyl arsonate (MMA V) and dimethyl arsenate (DMA V) [Aposhian et al. 2004; Styblo et al. 2002].
The resulting metabolites are more readily excreted.
Methylation has long been considered the main route of arsenic detoxification, but more recently there has been a growing body of literature supporting other detoxification mechanisms. For example, a number of animal species lack arsenic methylation and excrete inorganic arsenic [Vahter 2002]. The implication is that there may be other more important arsenic detoxification mechanisms in mammals. Other studies have suggested additional detoxification mechanisms such as
- antioxidant defenses,
- resistance to apoptosis, or
- transport [Yoshida et al. 2004].
Methylation
There have also been studies of arsenic metabolism suggesting that methylation of inorganic arsenic may be a toxification, rather than a detoxification pathway and that trivalent methylated arsenic metabolites, particularly monomethylarsonous acid (MMA III) and dimethylarsinous acid (DMA III), are "unusually capable of interacting with cellular targets such as proteins and DNA" [Kitchin 2001].
Methylation efficiency in humans appears to decrease at high arsenic doses.
(This reduces the ability of the liver/body to naturally detox other heavy metals and toxins.)
Patterns of methylated arsenic species in urine are similar between siblings and between siblings and parents, which suggests that arsenic methylation is genetically linked [Chung et al. 2002].
When the methylating capacity of the liver is exceeded, exposure to excess levels of inorganic arsenic results in increased retention of arsenic in soft tissues.
Excretion.
Arsenic is excreted in the urine primarily through the kidneys.
Humans excrete a mixture of inorganic, monomethylated, and dimethylated (but not trimethylated) forms of arsenic.
The pentavalent metabolites MMA V and DMA V are less toxic than arsenite or arsenate [Marafante et al. 1987].
- Approximately 50% of excreted arsenic in human urine is dimethylated and 25% is monomethylated, with the remainder being inorganic [Buchet et al. 1981]. However, there may be individual variations in percentage. According to urinary arsenic data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2003-2004 (also described in the "Clinical Assessment, Lab Testing" section of this document), as urinary levels of total arsenic increase, the percentage of methylated forms increases and at lower urinary total arsenic levels, the predominant form is inorganic [Caldwell et al. 2008].
-
Fish arsenic is largely not biotransformed in vivo, but it is rapidly excreted unchanged in the urine.
After a single intravenous injection of radiolabeled trivalent inorganic As (III) in human volunteers, most of the arsenic was cleared through urinary excretion within 2 days, although a small amount of arsenic was found in the urine up to 2 weeks later [ATSDR 2007].
The biologic half-life of ingested fish arsenic in humans is estimated to be less than 20 hours, with total urinary clearance in approximately 48 hours [ATSDR 2007].
-
Because arsenic is rapidly cleared from the blood, blood levels may be normal even when urine levels remain markedly elevated [ATSDR 2007].
Other less important routes of elimination of inorganic arsenic include
- feces,
- incorporation into hair and nails,
- skin desquamation, and
- sweat.

How arsenic blocks the body from removing other heavy metals.
April 10, 2014 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer
(NaturalNews)
The dangers associated with the heavy metal arsenic extend far beyond just its direct effects on immunity and cognitive function. A recent study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) reveals that chronic exposure to this deadly poison actually prevents the body from naturally removing many other toxic heavy metals like lead, mercury, iron and cadmium, allowing them to gradually accumulate in tissues and the brain.
Both in vitro and animal tests conducted by a team of researchers from Columbia University unveiled the fact that arsenic depletes the body's reserves of glutathione, the so-called "master antioxidant" that regulates a host of cellular events including gene expression, cell replication and the synthesis of both protein and DNA. Glutathione also helps protect the body against oxidative stress, which damages genes and could cause cancer.
Without glutathione, the kidneys and liver cannot function properly.
Besides inducing the type of oxidative stress that leads to long-term, chronic illness, arsenic-induced glutathione deficiency literally prevents the body from detoxifying itself. Practically every cell in the body relies on glutathione to maintain itself in a healthy state and prevent the spread of damaging free radicals. The kidneys and liver, which are the body's primary detoxification organs, also rely on glutathione to function normally.
"Cellular detoxification is broken into 3 phases, and glutathione enhances these stages of detoxification in many ways," explains a report on glutathione and detoxification published by Maximized Living. "Toxins are detected within the cell, and modified through oxidation and reduction reactions into forms the body can target."
"Once a toxin is detected and modified, its activated metabolites are then bound to or 'conjugated' directly to glutathione. There are other charged species in the body which may conjugate toxins, but glutathione is the primary contributor to this process. ... The conjugation of glutathione disables the toxic metabolites from diffusing across membranes, so that they are removed from the body."
Without glutathione, heavy metals have nothing to bind to for elimination.
In other words, without glutathione, the body has no way to effectively deactivate, capture and eliminate toxins, which of course is a recipe for disease and death. This is why it is critical not only to minimize your exposure to arsenic but also to actively seek ways to remove it from your body so that glutathione levels can be more optimally maintained.
This is especially important as the EHP study also found that chronic arsenic poisoning can potentially lead to an irreversible loss of glutathione in areas of the body where it is most needed. Evidence suggesting this included observations of what appeared to be an irreversible loss of both glutathione and various other nonprotein sulfhydryls in bile from the liver and urine.
"These findings, and the lack of association between [arsenic] exposure and blood [glutathione disulfide] or plasma [cysteine], suggest that [arsenic] may exert its greatest influence on [glutathione] through binding and irreversible loss in bile and/or possibly in urine," wrote the authors of the study in their conclusion.

May 17, 2015 -- by Anya Vien
If you eat fruits, vegetables, grains, and drink water, you have arsenic in your body.
As you probably know, arsenic is poisonous and causes a lot of health problems.
There two forms of arsenic, organic and inorganic.
Inorganic arsenic, the predominant form of arsenic in most of the food we eat, is highly toxic.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) ranks it as one of more than 100 substances that are Group 1 carcinogens.
It is known to cause lung, bladder, skin, liver, kidney, and prostate cancer in humans.
When this form of arsenic ingested, it quickly accumulates in the tissues and has been linked to many health issues.
According to the Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry, around 70 percent of arsenic is excreted in the urine, within a few days after ingestion. However, the rest of the arsenic remaining in the body is stored in hair, nails, skin, bones and teeth.
Additionally, a recent study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP) found that chronic exposure to arsenic prevents your body from naturally getting rid of many other toxic heavy metals like lead, mercury, cadmium, thus, allowing these metals to be stores in tissues and the brain.
How to Detox Arsenic from your body
-
Eat foods that contain sulfur or take sulfur supplements.
These foods can help eliminate arsenic from your body.
- Eggs
- Onions
- Garlic
- Beans
- Legumes
-
Eat dark leafy greens such as kale, spinach, swiss chard.
-
Take at least 2000 mg Vitamin C daily.
It is an excellent chelating agent.
-
Take selenium, iodine, calcium, zinc, and vitamin C.
These nutrients can protect against the effects of arsenic.

The order of decreasing toxicity (most to least) for arsenic is:
arsines, inorganic arsenites, organic arsenoxides, inorganic arsenates, arsenorganics with As valence of +5, and metallic As.
Arsines can penetrate rubber and are well absorbed through the skin which will become vesicated and blistered during the exposure. Arsines combine with hemoglobin in RBCs, cause hemolysis and cell destruction. Chronic exposures to arsines can result in anemia. Myocardial failure due to oxygen deprivation can occur in severe cases.
Sources of arsenic include: ...
70% of commercial chickens raised for meat in the U.S. are fed Roxarsone, a benzene arsenic compound, according to Science News. There is concern that this deposits in the meat that humans consume and has become a source of arsenic.
Arsenic effects are multiple and complex in terms of biochemistry.
The mitochondria of cells accumulate the element.
The pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (catalyzes formation of acetyl coenzyme A from mitochondrial pyruvic acid) is inhibited by As+++.
Pyruvic acidosis may result; citric acid cycle function and formation of ATP are slowed.
The citric acid cycle itself is impaired at the alpha-ketoglutaric acid dehydrogenase step; formation of succinyl coenzyme A is impaired. Both of these enzymatic steps require the active thiol, lipoic acid.
Arsenic readily combines with sulfhydryl (-SH) groups. ...
Depending upon transport in various tissues, arsenic may react with any of the enzymes in the body that have sulfhydryl groups.
Monoamine oxidase, which has eight cysteinyl residues with –SH groups is an example.
Monoamine Oxidase inhibitors (Manerix, Moclomobide) are used for severe depression.
Other effects of arsenic include
- irritation of the skin and mucous membranes,
- chromosomal damage in lymphocytes,
- erythroblasts in bone marrow with leukopenia,
- myocardial capillary damage.
Symptoms of arsenic exposure include:
-
Slight exposure may clear skin lesions such as acne.
- Garlic-like breath occurs with fatigue, malaise, and nausea.
- Skin and mucus membrane lesions may develop with
eczema or allergic-type dermatitis,
raindrop areas of lost skin color (hypopigmentation),
hair loss,
white marks on fingernails,
thickening of the skin of the palms and soles (hyperkeratosis),
“melanosis” of the eyelids, areolae of nipples, and neck),
conjunctivitis,
bronchitis, and
gingivitis.
- Excessive salivation, stomatitis, abdominal pain.
- Jaundice, peripheral neuropathy, polyneuritis, hemolysis, anemia, leukopenia, cyanosis of the fingers, Raynoud’s Syndrome.
- Chronic arsenic exposure has been associated with basal cell carcinomas (Harrison’s Principles, llth ed, p. 850.)
- Long term arsenic exposure may lead to the progression or acceleration of carotid artery atherosclerotic
ARSENIC DETOXIFICATION THERAPY.
Arsenic must be methylated using methyl donors such as SAMe, trimethylglycine, dimethylglycine, methionine, etc.
Some arsenic is bound to sulfur groups such as glutathione and excreted in the urine or bile.
- Remove the individual from sources of arsenic. Treat for anemia if indicated.
- Give sulfurated methyl groups and foods rich in sulfurated amino acids (garlic, eggs, beans)
-
Protective Nutrients against the effects of arsenic include
- selenium,
- iodine,
- calcium,
- zinc,
- vitamin C.
Supportive therapy with
- magnesium,
- B-vitamins,
- vitamin C,
- vitamin E,
- selenomethionine,
- lipoic acid ....
-
Drink adequate water (an adult’s urine volume should be > 2 liters/day).
-
Do not give cysteine.
Although it will readily combine with As, it will also move it around in body tissues and will not necessarily clear it from the body.
Caution: Sulfur-rich foods release cellular toxins.

RELEASING toxins and heavy metals from cells, tissues, and organs into one's blood is NOT Detoxing.
Detoxing requires a Mobilization of the toxins such that they are accessible to metabolic processes, AND,
methylation (capture) of those substances, possibly by Glutathione, so they can be excreted.
The first step gives one the Symptoms of the influence of the toxicity.
The second step brings one the Freedom from the destructive influences and their symptoms.
Vitamins, Oxygen (exercise), and sulfur-rich foods are contributors to the FIRST Step.
Frequently, what mobilizes Mercury, also mobilizes Arsenic and other heavy metals.
Sulfur rich Foods:
The best sulfur foods are the ones that are rich in protein, and specifically - in amino acids cysteine and methionine, the only two major sulfur-containing amino acids.
The third, lesser known sulfur amino acid, taurine, can be found in animal protein only, and can also be synthesized from cysteine and methionine in the body.
Another significant source of sulfur in our diets is MSM (short for "methylsulfonylmethane"), an organic compound that is 34% sulfur by weight. MSM supplement has been shown in animal studies and one human trial to significantly improve blood glutathione levels and the activity of glutathione enzymes in the presence of high oxidative stress.
We get most of the sulfur we need from animal foods with high methionine and/or cysteine content (all preferably organic grass fed, free range, wild caught to minimize exposure to toxins):
- meats
- poultry
- organ meats
- traditionally prepared bone broths
- gelatin
- collagen
- fish and sea food
- eggs
- raw milk
- yogurt
- cheese
- undenatured whey protein
Raw milk and other raw dairy are the best animal sources of MSM.
Bone broths also contain MSM because some of it remains dissolved in liquid.
Undenatured whey protein is an excellent source of bonded cysteine that is used by cells to synthesize the all-important glutathione.
It is not easy to determine sulfur content in foods because the amounts depend greatly on the quality of soil and farming practices.
Some people are allergic to sulfa drugs and inorganic sulfites, but usually can eat sulfur foods without any ill effects
INDEX
In his excellent book “Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment”, Andy Cutler informs us that many mercury-toxic people are intolerant to certain foods, commonly known as ‘sulfur foods’, which have a high free thiol content. Consuming foods high in thiols raises the circulating thiol levels which in turn mobilizes mercury and creates symptoms.
He notes, “You typically get a couple of hours of feeling good, energized, happy, and then libidinous, then you feel tired, draggy and depressed, which goes on for a day to a week. Of course if you are eating sulfur foods at each meal these all get stacked up and you can never figure out what is happening.”
The onset of reaction of symptoms is fairly prompt, with the tired/icky/depressed part starting within a few hours, and can last for 4-7 days. You might even enjoy eating these foods and believe that they do you no harm, but their reactions can cause you a lot of undue suffering.
Important: It is only food that contains a high level of free thiol groups, and not literally any food that contains elemental sulfur in any form, that are the culprits.
“You’ll find a lot of misleading ‘sulfur’ lists on the web. I’m talking about those compounds that are thiols or that metabolically convert to them, not to the total amount of elemental sulfur in the food. Some forms don’t convert very much and are tolerated at much higher levels than others. E. g. meat is in theory quite sulfury, but in fact a lot of the sulfur stays in the methionine rather than thiol form so it is a less potent thiol source than an elemental analysis would suggest. Especially if you are taking TMG or choline which helps provide methyl groups so the methionine doesn’t need to get metabolized.” ...
Andy notes: “I estimate that 33-50% of mercury toxic people have elevated plasma cysteine”, which effectively means that those people will battle with sulfur foods. In essence, everybody planning to chelate should do a sulfur exclusion trial at least once to determine if there is a sensitivity to sulphur foods and avoid a lot of suffering. ...
If your health improves while off the sulfur foods and regresses after adding them back, you have an intolerance to them and should avoid them. When you are on a low thiol diet, do not eat ANY amount of high thiol foods.
Sulfur food intolerance in mercury toxic people has more to do with the mobilization of mercury caused by raised cysteine levels and excess thiols, rather than a direct allergy/intolerance to sulfur foods per se. Either way, you will need to avoid them if you show an intolerance to them, or, as some people have found, keep them to an absolute minimum. It seems there is a critical threshold of high thiol food intake for many and if you remain below this, little harm is done.
The foods mentioned on the ‘food high thiol’ list below, are ones that are metabolized in a specific sulfur pathway that causes the problems for mercury toxic people by increasing free thiol levels. These foods contain the free thiol groups that interact with and mobilize mercury inducing symptoms such as tiredness, emotional distress and other non-specific ailments.
Andy Cutler also says:
“If you have elevated cysteine and you want to convert some to glutathione,
take a 2:1 weight ratio of glutamine and glycine (e. g. 2 500 mg caps of glutamine
with 1 500 mg cap of glycine) and your body will do the rest.”
Food list high in thiols
When you are on a low thiol diet, do not eat ANY amount of high thiol foods.
- artichokes, Jerusalem but not French
- asparagus
- bakery products containing whey, cysteine, eggs or enzymes
- bean curd/tofu milk
- bean sprouts
- beans of all sorts
- bok choy
- broccoli
- brussels sprouts
- buckwheat
- buttermilk – cream turns into butter and buttermilk. Buttermilk is where the thiols end up. Butter is thiol free
- cabbage
- carob
- cauliflower
- cheese, of all sorts – aging of cheese does not affect thiol sulfur content
- chives
- chocolate
- coffee
- collard greens
- cream
- daikon
- dairy products
- dandelion greens
- eggs
- garlic
- green beans
- greens
- horseradish
- jicama
- kale
- leeks
- lentils, of all sorts
- milk, from any animal
- miso soup
- mustard
- onions
- papaya (slightly)
- peas, of all sorts
- peanuts
- pineapple (slightly)
- radishes
- rutabaga
- sauerkraut
- sesame seeds, ground, as when in tahini (when in hull ok for most, except the very sensitive)
- shallots
- sour cream
- soy cheese
- soy milk
- spinach
- split peas
- sunchoke
- tahini (from ground sesame seeds)
- tamarind
- tempeh
- tofu
- turnip
- turmeric (though not high in thiols, it is really good at raising thiol levels)
- quinoa
- whey
- yeast extract
Also,
Watch out for foods that have garlic and onion powders added e.g. processed meats like hot dogs.
Meat is also high in sulfur, but most people tolerate it well due to low thiol level and it depends upon how sensitive you are.
If you need to limit meat, then you would also need to supplement amino acids, especially glutamine.
This also helps to heal the gut lining.
Supplements high in sulfur/thiol groups
- ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid or Thioctic Acid).
Obviously this needs to be used for chelation purposes at some point, whether you are sulfur intolerant or not, but it MUST always be used properly, and according to its half-life, as described in Andy Cutler’s oral chelation protocol. If you are sulfur-sensitive, you may only tolerate small amounts of ALA, so start low just in case. This is not always true, but worth remembering. Also, do not take ALA during your sulfur exclusion trial.
- bromelain and papain (use enzymes derived from animals)
- chlorella,
- cysteine
- dairy source acidophilus,
- DMSO,
- extracts of the high sulphur foods,
- glutathione,
- NAC,
- MSM,
- Methionine (converts down into cysteine)
- Turmeric is really good at raising thiol levels.

MagNascent Iodine, is a consumable form of nascent iodine and is not produced chemically or electrolytically.
Nascent iodine is a form of iodine thought to be safer and more effective than other forms.
It has a well recognized ability to fight infections in this state.
The iodine atom is a paramagnetic atom and is subject to magnetic charging.
When activated by adding to water, it is active for 2 to 3 hours.
During this time it is readily available to be used by the body and is the most usable form of iodine.
Iodine has been shown to kill candida albicans.
"Of all the elements known so far to be essential for human health, iodine is the most misunderstood and the most feared. Yet, iodine is the safest of all the essential trace elements, being the only one that can be administered safely for long periods of time to large numbers of patients in daily amounts as high as 100,000 times the RDA."
Dr. Brownstein
Dr. Abraham has proposed that the optimal daily dose of iodine for a person is approximately 12.5 mg, which is 100 times the RDA of 0.125 mg. He believes that the current prevailing medical opinion that more than 2 mg a day of iodine is toxic is wrong.
Articles:
For protection from radiation take 5 drops 3 times a day

Most commercial fulvic acid products available on the market are “first generation” fulvic acids extracted from the fermentation of peat and sugar, or are a byproduct of coal manufacturing. The process of chemically extracting fulvic acid removes or destroys other organic acids.
A mature all natural fulvic source product will contain more than 70 trace elements and minerals and as many electrolytes, naturally occurring amino acids, vitamins and organic acids.
The pH of our MLG-50 Fulvic Minerals is 2.0-2.3 after extraction and it will remain stable without the addition of preservatives. Producers of products that have a neutral pH of 7 have used hydroxides in their extraction process and are therefore considered synthetic by the USDA and FDA. These neutral pH forms of fulvic require the addition of a preservative, most commonly potassium sorbate.
First generation (man made) products do not contain the same levels of naturally- occurring constituents.
If your body is toxic to any degree, you may have some reactions such as a strong body odor on the skin and breath, outbreaks on the skin, a rash, darker stools and a strong urine odor. You may also get a headache or experience aches in muscles or joints - especially if you have not been drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, which is important to assist in the elimination process to remove the toxins that may have been laying dormant in "pockets" throughout the body. If any of these symptoms appear, they are generally temporary.

Glutathione (600mg) and Ca-EDTA (1,600mg), one month supply, comes with a FREE 'StopReabsorb' bowel cleanse.
Beats Detoxamin(R) and other similar EDTA products.
Over 3X more toxins are excreted.
The free StopReabsorb bowel cleanse cuts down on the reabsorbtion of toxins from the colon.
ToxDetox™ is a nutritional industry first - with never before available, professional strength reduced Glutathione (600mg) and CaNa2EDTA (1,600mg) in a cocoa butter based rectal suppository. As ToxDetox™ was researched and developed, a human study concurrently confirmed the powerful benefits of combined Glutathione and EDTA application for toxic removal:
3.8 times more toxins were excreted in the urine compared to EDTA only or Glutathione only applications [1].
ToxDetox beats Detoxamin(R) and other similar EDTA products.
ToxDetox™ raises the bar among detoxification products for efficiency, safety, and a broader spectrum of toxins removed, along with Glutathione’s immune boosting properties.
ToxDetox™ successfully targets the main health impacts of environmental and endogenous toxins:
mitochondrial toxicity, immunotoxicity, endocrine and neurotoxicity.
Suppositories provide very similar results to IV methods of administration since the ingredients in the suppository are absorbed by the wall of the rectum and carried straight into the systemic circulation (circumventing the entero-hepatic portal system where ingredients are broken down). Rectal absorption could be also compared to transdermal (through the skin) absorption due to the anatomy of the rectum.
De-calcification (EDTA) and immune boosting (glutathione) should be always a part of the best detoxification protocols.
CaNa2EDTA has been safely and widely used, since the 1950s, to bind and remove toxic heavy metal contamination in the body.
Lead, mercury, cadmium, manganese, iron, aluminum, arsenic, uranium, and other metals replace calcium, kept in the ring-shaped CaNa2EDTA, as it is being excreted.
Dosage
The recommended therapy is a minimum of three boxes of ToxDetox™.
Take and extra box for every ten years over the age of 40 (4 boxes over 50, 5 boxes over 60, etc.)
The total number of suppositories required depends on your toxicity level and exposure to toxic metals.
It is recommended to take a ToxDetox™ suppository every forth nights over the first two weeks for a slower start and every second days afterwards at bedtime, after a bowel movement, or as recommended by your health care professional.
Take your StopReabsorb bowel cleanse oral capsules 2 hours before you go to bed in the evenings, whenever you take a ToxDetox suppository.
There are benefits in going through with the whole detox program again a year later.
By this time the toxins from the deeper storage locations (e.g. from the bones) have time to come to more superficial places for effective detoxification.
Use one suppository weekly for maintenance.
How to Use ToxDetox™
- consider taking StopReabsorb™ bowel cleanse capsules 2 hours
before taking the suppository to stop the reabsorption of toxins from the colon
- take your daily vitamins as usual
- take your minerals at least 5 hours BEFORE taking the suppository (to avoid mineral-toxin competition)
- it is recommended to eat your dinner and drink a glass of water 2 to 3 hours before your bedtime
- empty your bowels before inserting the suppository
- remove the plastic wrapping from one suppository
- moisten the suppository or put a bit of coconut oil to the tip of the suppository for easier insertion
- insert it gently into the rectum past the sphincter muscles with your finger (use a “sandwich bag” for cleaner insertion)
- try not to empty your bowels overnight (or for a few hours)
- keep yourself hydrated while detoxifying
- preferably eat organic, non-GMO, and 50% raw food
- try to reduce/avoid EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) radiation to increase the rate of metal excretion from your body(!)
- do daily high intensity, intermittent bouts of exercises to improve blood and lymph circulation (and spike your HGH levels). Ideally, these high-intensity interval trainings consist a total of 10 minutes of very intense exertion (swimming, sprinting, jumping) with short recovery periods in between. Combine this with 'SuperSlow weight lifting'
- reduce your calorie intake or fast a day or two per week to open up your fat cells to release more (fat soluble) toxins
Glutathione.
Our current diet and lifestyle conditions do not support high enough levels of glutathione and thus it must be supplemented.
Glutathione is the most important, natural, master detoxifier and the body's main antioxidant, protecting our cells and making our energy metabolism run well. Normally glutathione is recycled in the body -- except when the toxic load becomes too great.
Glutathione levels are significantly lower in chronic disease patients, suggesting either that glutathione deficiency contributes to the disease, or, more likely, that chronic diseases use high levels of protective glutathione. In either case, supplementation with glutathione could be expected to alleviate much of the cellular toxicity that contributes to diseases, which is why animal and human studies suggest an important role for glutathione supplementation in chronic disease conditions.
CAUTION:
ToxDetox™ should not be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy, as the toxins would then be passed on to the baby.
However, it is strongly recommended to detoxify months before conception for healthier, less toxic babies. Keep out of reach of children. Store at either room temperature or refrigerate. Never freeze.

EDTA has both strong 'antibiotic' effects on its own and through its profound bacterial biofilm disrupting effects. These dual actions can turn MultiDrug-Resistant (MDR) microorganisms into resistant ones (!), underlining the lifesaving role EDTA can play. In a study, EDTA treatment of Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms resulted in 1,000 fold greater killing than treatment with the antibiotic gentamicin

HEAVY METAL DETOXIFICATION
Often overlooked, Mercury toxicity can play a large role in the development of common disorders.
Sub-clinical mercury toxicity occurs when there is enough mercury in the body to aggravate a number of symptoms or other disorders, but not identifiably high enough to meet the clinical definition of toxicity by this heavy metal.
Complicating matters further for the treatment of moderate mercury toxicity is that different people will generally tolerate different levels of mercury in their bodies. Common health concerns aggravated by even moderate levels of mercury include:
- Candida,
- allergies,
- MS,
- Lupus,
- adrenal stress,
- depression,
- anxiety,
- fatigue,
- leaky gut and
- others.

The analgesic properties of methyl-sulfonyl-methane (MSM) have long been recognized and many people with osteoarthritis use MSM to relieve joint pain, thereby reducing reliance on non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that can have serious side effects. MSM may improve a person's mobility by slowing the breakdown of cartilage, enhancing the body's inflammatory response, and stimulating the formation of new joint and connective tissues.
MSM's benefits for the musculoskeletal system are wide-ranging as this natural, organic sulphur compound is also a potent antioxidant that has been shown to reduce muscle damage after exercise. Athletes taking MSM tend to experience less muscle soreness after a workout, recover faster for more advantageous training and have healthier bone and cartilage.

Vitamin C
- vitamin c is an essential nutrient and potent antioxidant.
Many studies have demonstrated that vitamin c can be beneficial in the treatment and prevention of the common cold, respiratory ailments and urinary tract infections.
Citrus Bioflavonoids
(from natural citrus fruits) provide a rich source of antioxidants which research has shown to benefit the cardiovascular system, osteoarthritis and in the prevention of several other chronic diseases. in addition, research suggests that bioflavonoids may help increase intracellular levels of vitamin c, while protecting the vitamin c from oxidation.
Sea Buckthorn berries
are a fruit of significant nutritional value and are renowned from centuries of medicinal usage for skin, heart and liver health in both Europe and Asia. Sea Buckthorn is very rich in natural vitamin c, vitamin E, carotenoids, proteins and phytosterols, as well as being a potent source of antioxidants and essential fatty acids.
Rutin is a citrus bioflavonoid with studies suggesting benefits for the cardiovascular and circulatory systems.
Zinc is an important nutrient that helps to maintain a healthy immune function.
Combination Rationale:
Synergy C™ combines the benefits of 1,000 mg of buffered mineral vitamin c with the enhanced bioavailability action of antioxidants and flavonoids. the pH neutral buffered mineral sources of vitamin c from calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium ascorbates are combinations of ascorbic acid bonded with minerals to provide maximum absorption of vitamin c, while avoiding indigestion and protecting kidney health, which can be compromised when taking large doses of ascorbic acid alone.
Citrus bioflavonoids and rutin are powerful antioxidants which provide protection against the oxidative damage of free radicals. Some studies even suggest that bioflavonoids can help protect the antioxidant action of vitamin c. Bioflavonoids help increase intracellular levels of vitamin c and can also prolong the effectiveness of the vitamin c.
Sea Buckthorn berries contain naturally high levels of vitamin c. the health benefits of Sea Buckthorn berries can be found in the seed and pulp oil. CanPrev's Synergy C™ contains a complete whole pulp extract.
Zinc citrate has been added to complete this natural buffering activity, while supporting a strong immune function.

Lack of oxygen supply accompanies life-threatening diseases such as stroke, myocardial infarction or renal failure.
Tissues and cells are temporarily not provided with O2 (ischemia) and have to develop survival-strategies.
Cells are exposed to a second threat upon re-oxygenation (reperfusion).
Though being pivotal for survival, the sudden reperfusion of tissue induces oxidative stress and inflammatory responses.
The lack of oxygen supply is associated with a number of life-threatening diseases such as stroke, myocardial infarction or renal failure whereby cells are temporarily deprived of O2 and nutrient (ischemia). Significant cell damage can also occur during the reperfusion phase through oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. ....
COMMENT.
Oxygen Concentrators, by the nature of their temporary and periodic use, rather than a continual longer-term application, and, by their concentration of Oxygen in the proximal breathing air, rather than a provision of pure oxygen in a direct intubation through the nose ... minimizes the likelihood of the oxidative stress concerns mentioned above.
This benefit is only safe and relevant when the patient or caregiver is consciously aware of the symptoms indicating its requirement, and, the patient can begin to receive the benefits almost immediately. It will also be relevant only when oxygen supplementation can provide adequate health support for the patient by way of a temporary application. This suggests that the oxygen requirements of the patient cycle through periods of oxygen inefficiency and/or increases in requirement and that an acute or chronic oxygen debt is not present.
Many influences can initiate a cycle (temporary) of oxygen inefficiency; some of these include:
- a baseline degration of O2 assimilation through heavy metal toxicity,
- a baseline degration of O2 assimilation through chemical toxicity,
- a baseline elevation of O2 requirement through liver, thyroid, lung dysfunction,
- a baseline elevation of O2 assimilation through intestinal fungal. viral, bacterial overgrowth,
- a present experience of trauma,
- a memory of trauma.

How Novasonic Works
In 1928, Erwin Schliephake, a German scientist, discovered that sound waves accelerated healing.
When sound waves are applied to the body, the cells and tissue absorb some of the energy, thus increasing circulation to enhance healing.
A Novasonic Transducer is a compact and high-precision electrical device which transmits sound waves to the treatment area through a ‘sound-head,’ applied without pressure to the skin surface. The sound waves can penetrate up to 2 1/4? within the body, treating areas inaccessible to conventional manipulative techniques. The intensity of the waves and associated vibration can be adjusted easily, just like the volume on a radio.
The Novasonic massager utilizes a sound transducer that vibrates at selected frequencies within the audible range (between 16-20,000 Hertz). Sound waves are transmitted to the treatment area through a specially designed “sound head”, applied without pressure to the skin surface.
The sound waves can penetrate up to 2 ¼” within the body, treating areas inaccessible to other techniques.
Furthermore, the intensity of the waves and accompanying vibration can be adjusted easily.
The unit may look like an ultrasound unit, but Novasonic uses audible sounds, a different technology.
This provides intensive stimulation of the natural functions of the cellular, circulatory and nervous systems.
The Novasonic has two speeds (high and low), and an intensity control knob.
There are two sound heads; flat for large areas, and round for points.
The Novasonic can be used to stimulate cartilage, joints, muscles, and tissue.
The direct consequence of each molecular impact is to create altering compression and dilation zones in effect, a form of massage, but at a cellular level, deep within the treated tissue. This stimulation results in an immediate and demonstrable tightening of the cell-wall membranes, leading to increased blood circulation and improved metabolism. It is by this intensive stimulation of the natural functions of the cellular, circulatory and nervous systems of the body that the beneficial effects of the therapy are achieved. Novasonic simply gives nature a helping hand. Users report significant relief, particularly in the joints.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How does the Novasonic unit actually function?
Novasonic has a small head in the end of the unit that turns ordinary, household 60 Hz electricity into a range of audible sound waves that can easily penetrate the body up to 2.5 inches deep.
-
Does the Novasonic generate heat in the tissues?
No heat is generated. Any warming sensation is due to increased circulation.
-
Just what is it about the Novasonic that does cause some relief?
The sound waves or vibrations are in the hearing range and they stimulate local circulation and relax muscles and tissues just like any type of massage would, except much more gently.
-
What are the basics of the Novasonic Unit?
The Novasonic handle weighs less than one pound. It uses less than 25 watts of electricity.
The unit is very portable for trips since it is less than two pounds with the carrying case.
-
Are there any special instructions for best and safe use of the Novasonic?
Always unplug the transformer when not in use (extends the life of the transformer).
It is recommended that the unit not be used on the lower back or the abdominal region of any pregnant woman.
It is recommended that it not be used on the chest area of a person using a pacemaker.
These are all reasonable and prudent precautions.
If you have blood clot problems of the lower leg do not use the unit on your calf since any form of massage there could loosen the clots leading to extremely serious outcomes. As always, if you have any medical condition you are strongly urged to consult with your physician. Keep in mind that this is NOT a medical device and we make no medical claims regarding use.
-
Do I have to push the unit really hard against my body to get good results?
No, in fact use only a light touch. About 1 or 2 ounces of pressure is best.
If you push hard, you will dampen the power of the unit and stop its effectiveness.
-
How well built is the Novasonic unit?
It is an extremely fine, quality unit made in Europe by skilled technicians.
The unit is a good appliance and like any quality unit should be treated as such.
It is advised that turning the power knob should be done gently.
It is also advised that if you use the unit with creams or oils that a plastic baggy be placed over the head of the unit to protect it from the creams and oils since they will rapidly degrade the rubber membrane found just under the power head. This use of oils and cremes is not covered under the warranty and will lead to repair fees.
If you choose to change the head — screw off the head and screw on the other head, but MBR>
please do NOT over-tighten the head as this can possibly damage the unit.
The Novasonic should yield great comfort for years if carefully used and kept clean.
This chrome model includes a bi-modal switch with percussion therapy.
2 year manufacturer warranty. Ships via Standard Delivery.
Plugs into AC. 8" L x 2" W x 3" D. (19 oz.)
GLOSSARY:
INDEX
Arsines:
This flammable, pyrophoric, and highly toxic pnictogen hydride gas is one of the simplest compounds of arsenic.
Despite its lethality, it finds some applications in the semiconductor industry and for the synthesis of organoarsenic compounds.
Since before WWII AsH3 was proposed as a possible chemical warfare weapon.
The gas is colorless, almost odorless, and 2.5 times denser than air, as required for a blanketing effect sought in chemical warfare. It is also lethal in concentrations far lower than those required to smell its garlic-like scent. In spite of these characteristics, arsine was never officially used as a weapon, because of its high flammability and its lower efficacy when compared to the non-flammable alternative phosgene. On the other hand, several organic compounds based on arsine, ... have been effectively developed for use in chemical warfare.
Methionine:
Methionine is an amino acid. Amino acids are the building blocks that our bodies use to make proteins.
Methionine is an essential amino acid involved in the creation of cartilage and may also help prevent hair loss and strengthen nails. A deficiency of methionine can lead to inflammation of the liver (steatohepatitis), anemia, and greying hair. However, a diet low in methionine may also extend lifespan and reduce risk of cancer. High methionine foods include nuts, beef, lamb, cheese, turkey, pork, fish, shellfish, soy, eggs, dairy, and beans. For people looking to build muscle, the bioavailability of methionine is greater in animal foods, particularly dairy.
Methionine is used ... for increasing the acidity of urine, treating liver disorders, and improving wound healing. Other uses include treating depression, alcoholism, allergies, asthma, copper poisoning, radiation side effects, schizophrenia, drug withdrawal, and Parkinson's disease. Overconsumption of methionine, ... is related to cancer growth in a number of studies.
Sulfhydryl-group type conjugating agents:
If you've ever been unlucky enough to be sprayed by a skunk, you know just how stinky a sulfhydryl group can be.
The chemical causes rotten eggs to smell so bad is also an example of a sulfhydryl group compound.
Sulfur is found mainly in proteins in the form of sulfhydryl groups or disulfide groups.
Like oxygen, sulfur typically has a valence of 2, although it can also have a valence of 6, as in sulfuric acid.
Sulfur is found in certain amino acids and proteins in the form of sulfhydryl groups (symbolized as -SH).
Two sulfhydryl groups can interact to form a disulfide group (symbolized as -S-S-).
A sulfhydryl is a functional group consisting of a sulfur bonded to a hydrogen atom.
The sulfhydryl group, is also called a thiol. Thiols have great affinity for soft metals.
Sulfhydryl groups can be found in the amino acid, cysteine.
Sulfurated methyl groups:
(2015) The interest to sulfonated methyl esters of fatty acids (SME) has been growing during the last decade, because these surfactants are considered as an environmentally friendly and renewable alternative of the linear alkyl-benzene sulfonates (LAS).
... arsenic is likely to channel sulfur into glutathione for detoxification, leads to indirect oxidative stress by depleting glutathione pools, and alters protein turnover via arsenation of sulfhydryl groups on proteins. ... arsenic detoxification in yeast focuses around: nucleotide and RNA synthesis; methionine metabolism and sulfur assimilation; protein degradation; and transcriptional regulation by proteins that form a stress-response network. In summary, protein synthesis in response to arsenic allows energy to be diverted toward the genes channeling sulfur into glutathione, which then leads to indirect oxidative stress by depleting glutathione pools and alters protein turnover.

Articles on the Internet are transitory.
The publishers may remove them, change sites, change URLs, or change titles.
For the purpose of maintaining an availability of these articles for us, I have reprinted parts here with authorship maintained, coding simplified for error-free loading and minimal file size, and a LINK to the original document. NOTHING in writing is absolute; don't treat human opinion, projection, and observation as an Idol. Doing so can kill you, or worse, have you impose abuse on others.
I gathered and researched this data, mediated with the Grace of God through prayer, first, as a benefit in my interest in exploring available digital information which would acquaint me with the overall content related to the subject. I have found that God is ALWAYS available when we are Reverent in our Asking, open-minded in our Listening, and, Assertive in our Choice of Action. Doctors did not expect me to survive birth. In the past 25 years, medical and health "experts" have cautioned or directed me, more than 14 times, that I had little time left to live, or would die ... because THEY did not understand my challenges, were not motivated to professionally diagnose, or, chose to superstitiously recall as absolute previously flawed training. I am still alive beyond age 70. With the assistance of God, my Personality, the research and lack of dismissiveness of a number of persons ... I have found resolution to numerous health challenges. This has enabled me to assist many others who had been abandoned. May it also empower you. This is one document which you may find helpful as a BASIC introduction to the subject.
