Sulphur is a multivalent non-metal, abundant, tasteless and and odorless.
In its native form sulphur is a yellow crystalline solid.
In nature it occurs as the pure element or as sulfide and sulfate minerals.
Although sulphur is infamous for its smell, frequently compare to rotten eggs, that odor is actually characteristic of hydrogen sulphide (H2S).
The crystallography of sulphur is complex.
Depending on the specific conditions, sulphur allotropes form several distinct crystal structures.
A study of the periodic table of elements shows sulfur, selenium, and tellurium as being the only three oxygen transport minerals. Further study shows that chlorine and fluorine are detrimental to such oxygen transport, yet these elements have been added to make our teeth "healthier" and our water "more pure" or free from bacterial infestation. These elements are poisonous at higher concentrations, and they block the uptake of both oxygen and sulfur. Drinking city tap water is discouraged in the Study for this reason.
Sulfur enables the transport of oxygen across cell membranes, and oxygen is necessary for healthy cellular regeneration in mammals. Plants, on the other hand, require carbon dioxide for cell regeneration, and plants can store sulfur, while man cannot. Man eliminates carbon dioxide, and plants eliminate oxygen. Thus, the sulfur cycle is symbiotic and vital for life as we know it.
Sulfur is a chemical element that is present in all living tissues.
After calcium and phosphorus, it is the third most abundant mineral in the human body.
Many amino acids (protein building blocks), vitamins, and mineral compounds also contain sulfur.
Good food sources of sulfur include
- egg yolks,
- cabbage,
- broccoli,
- cauliflower,
- Brussels sprouts,
- kale,
- collards,
- asparagus,
- onions, and
- garlic
Applications
The major derivative of sulphur is sulphuric acid (H2SO4), one of the most important elements used as an industrial raw material.
Sulphur is also used in batteries, detergents, fungicides, manufacture of fertilizers, gun powder, matches and fireworks. Other applications are making corrosion-resistant concrete which has great strength and is frost resistant, for solvents and in a host of other products of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Sulphur in the environment
Life on Earth may have been possible because of sulphur.
Conditions in the early seas were such that simple chemical reactions could have generate the range of amino acids that are the building blocks of life.
Sulphur occurs naturally near volcanoes.
Native sulphur occurs naturally as massive deposits in Texas and Louisiana in the USA.
Many sulphide minerals are known: pyrite and marcaiste are iron sulphide; stibnite is antimony sulphide; galena is lead sulphide; cinnabar is mercury sulphide and sphalerite is zinc sulphide. Other, more important, sulphide ores are chalcopyrite, bornite, penlandite, millerite and molybdenite.
The chief source of sulphur for industry is the hydrogen sulphide of natural gas, Canada is the main producer.

All living things need sulphur.
It is especially important for humans because it is part of the amino acid methionine, which is an absolute dietary requirement for us. The amino acid cysteine also contains sulphur. The average person takes in around 900 mg of sulphur per day, mainly in the form of protein.
Sulfur bonds are required for proteins to maintain their shape, and these bonds determine the biological activity of the proteins.
For example, hair and nails consist of a tough protein called keratin, which is high in sulfur, whereas connective tissue and cartilage contain proteins with flexible sulfur bonds, giving the structure its flexibility.
With age, the flexible tissues in your body tend to lose their elasticity, leading to sagging and wrinkling of skin, stiff muscles and painful joints. A shortage of sulfur likely contributes to these age-related problems.
If you don't have sufficient amounts of sulfur in your body, enzymes cannot function properly.
The sulfur itself does not heal. It provides needed oxygen inside the cells where it is needed.
It is the oxygen that sulfur transports which promotes both energy and cellular cleansing of wastes.
Glycation.
Sulfur (enables) cell membranes (to be) more pliable allowing for improved oxygen transport to the cell and improved waste transport from the cell- so sulfur (could) definitely help anyone to remove toxins from the body. Sulfur helps us regenerate all of our cells so we can heal from the inside, out.
(Sulfur) bonds with toxic substances such as Aluminum, Barium and Strontium ... helping remove them safely from the body. It also helps remove toxic mercury from the body. Sulfur helps lessen glycation -- the process by which sugar crosslinks with collagen to armor plate our cells.
Glycation blocks insulin from carrying glucose into the cells by making them too thick, starving a person of fuel they need for energy (and thus encouraging overnutrition by which the person eats more calories than is best for them in an unconscious effort to gain more energy access). Sulfur helps stop glycation, and so can benfothiamine -- a lipid soluable B vitamin. Lessening glycation to help get glucose into the cells can lessen brain fog and depression and generate increased energy.
Elemental sulphur is not toxic, but many simple sulphur derivates are, such as sulphur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen sulfide.
Sulfur can be found commonly in nature as sulphides.
During several processes sulfur bonds are added to the environment that are damaging to animals, as well as humans. These damaging sulphur bonds are also shaped in nature during various reactions, mostly when substances that are not naturally present have already been added. They are unwanted because of their unpleasant smells and are often highly toxic.
Globally sulphuric substances can have the following effects on human health:
- Neurological effects and behavioural changes
- Disturbance of blood circulation
- Heart damage
- Effects on eyes and eyesight
- Reproductive failure
- Damage to immune systems
- Stomach and gastrointestinal disorder
- Damage to liver and kidney functions
- Hearing defects
- Disturbance of the hormonal metabolism
- Dermatological effects
- Suffocation and lung embolism
People take sulfur by mouth for
- shortness of breath,
- allergies,
- swelling in the back of the throat (pharyngitis),
- high cholesterol,
- clogged arteries,
- menopause, and
- upper respiratory tract infections like the common cold.
Sulfur is applied to the skin for
- acne,
- hayfever,
- skin redness (rosacea),
- dandruff,
- scaly and red skin patches (seborrheic dermatitis),
- an itchy skin infection caused by mites (scabies),
- lice,
- cold sores,
- warts,
- poison oak, ivy,
- sumac infections.
Roles of Sulfur in biochemical processes.
-
Your body's electron transport system,
---- as part of iron/sulfur proteins in mitochondria, the energy factories of your cells.
-
Thiamine (vitamin B1) and biotin (B7) conversion,
--- which in turn are essential for converting carbohydrates into energy.
-
Synthesizing important metabolic intermediates,
--- such as glutathione — one of the most important antioxidants that your body produces — S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), taurine and N-acetylcysteine (NAC).
-
Proper insulin function.
The insulin molecule consists of two amino acid chains connected to each other by sulfur bridges, without which the insulin cannot perform its biological activity.
-
Glucose metabolism.
One hypothesis is that if sufficient amounts of sulfur is available, it will act as a decoy to glucose, effectively diverting it to reduce the sulfur rather than glycating and causing damage. This could have the beneficial effect of reducing chronic inflammation, as sugar (glucose) is highly inflammatory and wreaks havoc in your body.
- Detoxification.
In 1920, Otto Warburg began his study of cancer in both plants and man, for which he received a Nobel Prize in 1931. He proved that cancer in man is anaerobic. Anaerobic, by definition, is cellular metabolism without oxygen. "Cancer" in plants is linked to too much intracellular oxygen, or aerobic metabolism. The use of a gas we are intended to eliminate for cellular regeneration is not a healthy program for plants or man.
... it takes up to seven years to regenerate all the cells in the body when the cells are healthy.
Damaged cells from trauma or chemical processes cannot regenerate unless the ability to transport of oxygen across the cell membrane is functioning. Oxygen is a large molecule, so nutrient uptake is also improved when the cell membrane becomes pliable and healthy. The purity of the sulfur is an important factor.
Old scar tissue and various types of fibroids have been reported to resolve.
This is an example of cellular regeneration in cells that have been scarred and unable to regenerate over the years following a trauma.
The skin is the largest organ in the body, and it's like a huge kidney or lung.
Sulfur is known as "the beauty mineral," and what we really are saying is that the skin is more beautiful if its cells are able to regenerate. The skin is the backup for the liver, and someone in liver distress shows it in the cells of their face and skin. When the internal filters are working well, the extracellular fluids are not polluted and the immune system is allowed to protect the body from infections.

The Sulfur Study: Early results ... (2017)

Cellular Matrix Study

Sulfur can be found in the air in many different forms.
It can cause irritations of the eyes and the throat with animals, when the uptake takes place through inhalation of sulfur in the gaseous phase. Sulfur is applied in industries widely and emitted to air, due to the limited possibilities of destruction of the sulfur bonds that are applied.
Since 1954, our food supply has been devoid of sulfur, thanks to the use of chemical fertilizers and the overprocessing of our foods. Unfortunately, our nation is not about to cease the use of these profitable chemicals, which involve commercial agribusiness, medicine, insurance, as well as genetic and designer foods. However, we can regenerate our internal sulfur cycle with organic sulfur, provided that this sulfur compound has not suffered the same indignities of science that our food supply has and continues to suffer.
Finland, alarmed over the increasing disease rate of its population, took a hard look at chemical fertilizers and banned all of them, fearing the levels of cadmium. They were not aware of the sulfur connection or Krebs cycle. Since doing so, they have become a leading supplier of "Bio-Friendly" or completely organic foods in Europe. They have also seen their disease rates drop to one tenth of the 1985 levels. In 1985, the U.S. was at the same marked disease level as Finland. ... It appears that the epidemiology of those countries using chemical fertilizers have an increase in disease, while those that use organically based fertilizing methods do not.
The damaging effects of sulfur with animals are mostly brain damage, through malfunctioning of the hypothalamus, and damage to the nervous system.
Laboratory tests with test animals have indicated that sulfur can cause serious vascular damage in veins of the brains, the heart and the kidneys. These tests have also indicated that certain forms of sulfur can cause foetal damage and congenital effects. Mothers can even carry sulfur poisoning over to their children through mother milk.
Finally, sulfur can damage the internal enzyme systems of animals.
Environmental Changes effected by the intensive use of soils by humans
has increased sulfur deficiency health problems.
In 2011, (Dr. Joseph Mercola) interviewed Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., a senior research scientist at MIT, about the influence of sulfur on health and disease. ...
Sulfur deficiency is quite common — in part due to demineralization of soils — and may be a contributing factor in health problems such as
- obesity,
- heart disease,
- Alzheimer's and
- chronic fatigue,
- (others).
Studies have also noted that sulfur is helpful for conditions such as skin disorders, arthritis and shingles, for example, suggesting sulfur plays an important role in these conditions as well.6 Importantly, Seneff ... points out that heart disease may actually be related to cholesterol sulfate deficiency, and explains how elevated LDL cholesterol is a sign of this deficiency. In short, high LDL (incorrectly referred to as "bad" cholesterol) is your body's way of compensating for cholesterol sulfate deficiency.
When LDL is turned into plaque, blood platelets inside the plaque produce cholesterol sulfate, which your heart and brain needs for optimal function. Seneff ... explains why lowering LDL with statins can lead to heart failure.
Essentially, by elevating LDL, your body is protecting itself from the harmful effects of cholesterol sulfate deficiency. When you simply remove the LDL, you remove this "backup" mechanism aimed at keeping your heart going strong. As a result, heart failure becomes a distinct possibility.

Sulfur's bioactivity appears to be strongly influenced by the chemicals it's attached to.
Pasteurization (of foods) reduces MSM levels by about 50%.
Perspectives on the Benefits of Sulfur supplementation.
- Sulfur is the third most abundant mineral in the body, about half being concentrated in the muscles, skin and bones, and is essential for life. Sulfur makes up vital amino acids used to create protein for cells, tissues, hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. The body uses up its store daily so it must be continually replenished for optimal health and nutrition.
- Sulfur is needed for insulin production.
Insulin controls carbohydrate metabolism, but insufficient sulfur makes it harder for the pancreas to produce enough insulin, and makes cells less able to absorb things from the blood, contributing to blood sugar problems.
- Sulfur detoxifies at the cellular level and relieves pain.
Healthy cells can absorb adequate nutrients while releasing toxins and wastes.
Sulfur affects this by helping your body build strong breathable cell walls that properly balance cell pressure.
Having enough sulfur helps your body to remove toxins that may suffocate the cells, or swell them, causing pain, allergies, stiffness, and muscle soreness!
- Sulfur builds flexible cells in the arteries and veins - the opposite of "hardening of the arteries".
Elastic, "breathable" blood vessel tissues are able to pass oxygen and nutrients through their walls to nourish the rest of the body and handle the body's blood flow without stress.
- Sulfur has been called nature's "beauty mineral" because it keeps your complexion clear beautiful skin and youthful and hair glossy and smooth. Collagen production in your body depends on sulfur to create healthy skin and heal scars. For example, sulfur improves acne by resolving scars, removing toxins from the skin and creating healthy new skin cells. When you have enough sulfur in your body, your skin and hair are more flexible, softer, and smoother.
- Where is organic sulfur found in nature? ...
From rainwater and seawater absorbed by plants.
Plankton in our oceans absorb it from underwater volcanoes and then release sulfur compounds back into seawater as part of their natural cycle. This is converted to DMS, a gas sulfur compound that bubbles up into the atmosphere. Ozone and ultraviolet sunlight change the sulfur gas to DMSO and Methylsulfonylmethane, known as MSM. The rain now contains MSM which is spread over the oceans and land where it is absorbed by plants and seaweed.
We don't eat a large diet of foods rich in organic sulfur like people used to.
For most of human history, we could eat fruits and vegetables fresh from the ground and not have to give a second thought to getting this essential nutrient. However, food storage, transport, processing, cooking, even washing and drying, degrades MSM, and due to our modern lifestyle we have lost access to the MSM our bodies expect. Also with air pollution and degradation of our soil and water, it has become essential to make sure we supplement our diets with bio-available sulfur to get enough for optimal health.
- MSM has an amazing anti-parasitic action.
When parasites attach to someone's intestinal lining, they can live, reproduce and leach nutrients from the body indefinitely. MSM blocks parasites by competing for receptor sites on the mucous membrane. When parasites cannot attach themselves, they are simply flushed out of the system with the excess MSM.
- MSM has anti-allergic properties.
MSM has an ability to bind to mucuous membranes and form a natural block against allergens.
Another way MSM can alleviate allergies is through detoxification, elimination of free radicals, and improvement of cell permeability. Several authors, including Beth M. Ley in her book- MSM: On Our Way Back to Health With Sulfur , have noted that MSM works as a safe histamine inhibitor, at least as well as the traditional antihistamines, without the negative side effects.
- MSM and Vitamin C.
Your body uses MSM along with Vitamin C to create new, healthy cells and connective tissue.
MSM helps determine how flexible the bond is between the cells. An adequate supply of MSM and Vitamin C supports healthy cell regeneration. As your new cells are created, MSM is incorporated into the bonds that make up cells walls. The result is the creation of cell walls that are better able to absorb nutrients.
Dandruff.
Sulfur is an FDA-approved ingredient used in common over-the-counter products to treat dandruff.
However, available research on its effectiveness is limited. Some research shows that using a shampoo containing sulfur and/or salicylic acid twice daily for 5 weeks reduces dandruff. Shampoo containing both sulfur and salicylic acid seems to be most effective. Shampoos containing 2% sulfur, alone or with 2% salicylic acid, have been used twice weekly for 5 weeks.

This vitamin-like antioxidant (ALA) improves insulin function and relieves nerve pain and numbness in people with type 2 diabetes. Try 300 to 600 milligrams one to three times daily.
... be sure to monitor your blood sugar, which can also be lowered with alpha-lipoic acid.
A vitamin-like substance found in foods (beef and spinach) and produced by the body, alpha-lipoic acid plays key roles in energy production. It is part of a process that breaks down glucose (blood sugar) and burns it for energy. Studies have found that alpha-lipoic acid can lower and stabilize glucose levels in diabetics by as much as 30 percent. It also reverses nerve pain and numbness in diabetes. Lester Packer, PhD, of the University of California, Berkeley, has reported that alpha-lipoic acid can reenergize other important antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E and glutathione. Packer believes, based on animal studies, that alpha-lipoic acid holds tremendous potential in helping stroke victims recover. Dosage: 50-300 mg daily.

Although the research on chondroitin sulfate is not as strong as with glucosamine, it too can reduce pain from osteoarthritis.
The benefits were noticeable in a 2009 article in Arthritis & Rheumatism, as well as in other studies.
Chondroitin forms part of the cartilage matrix in joints. --- Try 1,200 milligrams daily.
Both chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine sulfate help form cartilage tissue, particularly in the pads that cushion joints. Thin or absent joint cartilage results in osteoarthritis, in which bones grind against each other. Medical studies support both chondroitin and glucosamine sulfate supplements. In an analysis of 13 studies, researchers at Case Western University School of Medicine reported that supplements of each resulted in a 40 percent improvement in osteoarthritic symptoms. Some research has also found that chondroitin sulfate works better than analgesic drugs at relieving pain. In a recent U.S. Navy study, researchers found that a combination of chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, and vitamin C reduced osteoarthritic symptoms by 26 to 43 percent (depending on the specific symptom).
Dosage: glucosamine, 1,500 mg, and chondroitin, 1,200 mg daily.

Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) is made up of magnesium, sulfur and oxygen.
While most of the benefits associated with Epsom salt baths relates to magnesium
— such as improved sleep, stress reduction and reduced pain and muscle cramping — its sulfur content is also important for health.
... sulfur plays an important role in detoxification, and people who struggle with toxicity will often have a deficiency in the sulfation pathway. As explained in Enzyme Stuff:
"… [M]ost people with autism conditions have a deficiency in a key detoxification pathway. The pathway involves using sulfur in the form of sulfate (known as sulfation). The enzyme involved is phenol sulfur-transferase (PST), but the problem is thought to hinge on an inadequate supply of usable sulfate ions, not the metabolic enzyme itself.
Dr. [Rosemary] Waring found that most children on the autism spectrum are very low in sulfate and may be as low as 15 percent of the amount in neurologically typical people. People with low or no ability to convert compounds to sulfate have problems handling environmental chemicals, some medications, and even some chemicals produced within the body.
They include people with other conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, rheumatoid arthritis and chemical sensitivities.
The PST sulfation pathway is necessary for the breakdown and removal of certain toxins in the body. This includes the processing of a type of chemical called a phenol … All foods contain some phenolic compounds. However, some foods have a much higher content than others do. If the sulfation pathway is not functioning well, a person may not be able to process out the phenolic compounds as fast as they consume them.
There is a cumulative effect. When the phenols start backing up in the system, it can cause a myriad of negative reactions. Symptoms of phenol intolerance include night waking, night sweats, irritability, eczema and other skin conditions. The symptoms of phenol intolerance and yeast may be very similar because they both involve the body trying to deal with toxins."

Why does garlic lower blood pressure?
It's the sulfur. A recent study found that the allicin in garlic gets converted to hydrogen sulfide, which relaxes the blood-vessel cells.
... dicing and cooking it triggers a cascade of chemical reactions (starting with oxidation), that lead to more than 100 sulfur-rich chemical compounds, including some sulfur-containing amino acids. Garlic boosts antioxidant levels in the body, and virtually every form of the food has some health benefits. Studies have found that garlic supplements can lower cholesterol levels in people. John Milner, PhD, of Pennsylvania State University, University Park, and other researchers have reported that garlic can block the action of cancer-causing compounds and, in laboratory animals, delay the growth of some cancers.

This vitamin-like substance and related compounds, such as glutathione peroxidase, are the most powerful antioxidants made within the body. Glutathione also plays essential roles in breaking down hazardous chemicals. Because glutathione is generally not well absorbed, use N-acetylcysteine or alpha-lipoic acid as precursors.
Described by chemists as a tripeptide (composed of cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid), glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant made by the human body. Not surprisingly, low blood levels of glutathione are associated with heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. In addition, glutathione also helps the liver break down toxic chemicals, whether they are absorbed from the environment or produced by the body. Researchers recently reported that diets high in glutathione protected against lung cancer. Good dietary sources of glutathione include beef, potatoes, winter squash, oranges, and tomatoes. More than 90 percent of the nonprotein-bound sulfur in cells is found in glutathione.

506314-what-are-the-dangers-of-methylsulfonylmethane/
Unfortunately, many authors referencing sulfur supplements refer to MSM as if it were the only sulfur supplement.
Methylsulfonylmethane - MSM Supplement.
Commonly known as MSM, this supplement is 34 percent elemental sulfur.
It is the oral form of dimethyl sulfoxide, also called DMSO.
MSM supplements significantly reduced pain and improved physical functioning in a study of 50 patients, published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage. Another study reported that a combination of MSM and glucosamine sulfate was far better than the latter alone in reducing pain.
Try 1,000 to 5,000 milligrams daily, starting with 1,000 milligrams and increasing your dose by 1,000 milligrams per day, as some people have digestive upset from MSM.
Methylsulfonylmethane occurs naturally in the body, but you also obtain it from fresh, raw fruits and vegetables.
... processing, including heating and dehydration, destroys it. Pasteurization (of foods) reduces MSM levels by about 50%.
Stanley Jacob, MD, of Oregon health Sciences University, Portland, a pioneer in researching both MSM, has found MSM very effective in reducing muscle and joint pain, interstitial cystitis (a type of very painful bladder inflammation). According to Jacob, MSM also eases symptoms of scleroderma, a chronic degenerative disease that scars skin, joints, and connective tissue. By weight, MSM is 34 percent sulfur.
Dosage: 1,000-2,000 mg daily.
MSM's primary benefits are related to its ability to reduce inflammation.
In your body, about 15 percent of DMSO breaks down into MSM, and MSM is 34 percent sulfur by weight.
MSM is more than just a simple sulfur donor, however. It also affects sulfur metabolism, but it's still not entirely clear how.
As a supplement, MSM (which is a metabolite of DMSO) is widely used in the treatment of pain, especially pain associated with arthritic conditions. One clinical trial found that people with osteoarthritis of the knee who took 3 grams for MSM twice a day for 12 weeks experienced significantly decreased pain and improved physical function, compared to a placebo.
Another study found that patients with mild to moderate osteoarthritis benefited from oral glucosamine and MSM, both individually and in combination.
Side Effects:
... potential side effects at higher doses include intestinal discomfort, ankle swelling and skin rashes.
These are likely detoxifying effects that can typically be mitigated or minimized by cutting back on the initial dosage and slowly working your way up.
Allergies
MSM supplements may help alleviate allergy symptoms, according to a small, older study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine in 2002. For the study, 55 patients took either MSM supplements or a placebo every day for 30 days. Looking at data on the 50 participants who completed the study, researchers found that those assigned to the MSM supplements experienced significantly greater improvements in lower respiratory symptoms (compared to members of the placebo group).
Alternatively, signs of an allergic reaction may include
- itching,
- a rash,
- hives,
- mouth or throat swelling,
- wheezing,
- trouble breathing and
- chest tightness.
An (apparent) allergic reaction to methylsulfonylmethane calls for immediate medical attention, as it could be life threatening.
Osteoarthritis
MSM may be of some benefit to people with osteoarthritis of the knee, according to a research review published in the journal Osteoarthritis Cartilage in 2008. Looking at six studies that examined the use of MSM or DMSO in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, investigators found that "data from the more rigorous MSM trials provide positive but not definitive evidence that MSM is superior to placebo in the treatment of mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee." However, since most of the reviewed studies were of poor quality, the review's authors note that "no definitive conclusion can currently be drawn for either supplement."
There's also some evidence that balneotherapy (mineral baths that include sulfur) may benefit people with osteoarthritis. In a 2007 report from Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, for instance, scientists sized up seven trials on the use of balneotherapy in the treatment of osteoarthritis and found that the therapy resulted in significantly greater improvements in pain and quality of life (compared to a placebo). In addition, a 2003 report from the same journal looked at six trials on the use of balneotherapy in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and found that most studies reported "positive findings."
Contamination
Because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not regulate supplements as strictly as it does medications, some methylsulfonylmethane supplements could be contaminated with other substances and may not contain the amount of methylsulfonylmethane listed on the label. ...
The safety of the MSM supplements (can be) guaranteed by manufacturing (in a GMP-FDA approved facility) that uses distillation to remove all impurities, leaving only MSM.
Why Most MSM Supplements Don't Work
The Study’s initial research of organic sulfur had its participants go to the store to buy MSM (methylsulfonylmethane).
But what we hoped to observe did not coincide with what the literature said about MSM. Except for gastrointestinal improvements, our initial group had little improvement.
When we found an article about the 16 "deadly" additives found in MSM -- the anti-caking additives, we realized why our early participants were not reporting any health improvements. These additives benefit only the packaging industry; our health is apparently a lesser concern to them.
Sulfur, with an atomic number of 16, is known to bond with almost every other mineral.
Sulfur has demonstrated its ability to detoxify heavy metals in conjunction with the transport of oxygen across the cell membrane, thus allowing regeneration. Sulfur is also the key player as a precursor for the utilization of amino acids, the body’s building blocks. Of all of the amino acids, some 70 percent are sulfur-based.
This detoxification cannot happen with MSM that contains anti-caking ingredients, ... block the bioavailability of sulfur to the cells. The same thing happens when organic sulfur is released into the ocean, or evaporates and falls with rain -- that sulfur is bound up by the chemical fertilizers as sulfites and sulfates.
It soon became clear that the Study had to find a pure, uncontaminated form of MSM.
After a thorough search, we believe we have found it in the form of Organic Sulfur -- coarse crystal flakes which are fresh from the precipitator and have had no further processing. This Organic Sulfur is supplied to the members of the Study, and we follow them with photographs of their faces in an effort to observe the cellular regeneration they experience.
The photographic followup, the newest aspect of the Study, is too recent in its implementation to be able to share the results. However, the reports on health, diet, and medications have been very interesting. As in the beginning of the Study, many of these participants had been taking MSM in tablet or capsule form for many years. Our efforts to find a pure form of MSM was worth the effort, as their responses have clearly indicated.

Rich in sulfur, NAC quickly boosts glutathione levels.
According to an Italian study of seniors, NAC supplements can block influenza symptoms.
Recent studies have found that NAC supplements reduce drug and alcohol cravings, as well as several types of obsessive-compulsive behavior. One study found that NAC supplements eased symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome.
Try 500 to 2,000 milligrams daily. Take NAC and all other amino acids on an empty stomach.
Virtually every hospital emergency room stocks N-acetylcysteine (NAC) as an antidote for acetaminophen (Tylenol) poisoning. Acetaminophen depresses glutathione production in the liver, whereas NAC restores it. In a study of 262 elderly people, supplements of 1,200 mg of NAC daily reduced the occurrence of flu symptoms by two-thirds. Researchers at Stanford University have reported that high dosages of NAC significantly extend the life expectancy of AIDS patients. Preliminary research also suggests that it may be helpful in preventing cancer. NAC is completely safe, unlike pure cysteine, which can damage brain cells.
Dosage: 500-2,000 mg daily.

The Sulfur Study: Early results ... (2017)
By Patrick McGean, Director
Cellular Matrix Study
801-290-2013 (U.S.)
Email: organicsulfur@sisna.com
Organic sulfur is a food, not a drug.
Organic Sulfur is not stored in the body and it is considered to be nontoxic.
Attempts to kill mice, rats, and Oregon State Death Row inmates failed to reach a toxic level even at 200 grams or almost half pound a day.
The Cellular Matrix Study (referred to here as "The Sulfur Study") was organized in 1999.
This study was inspired by a fatal type of breast cancer, a type of germ cell reproductive cancer that had been reported to respond to organic sulfur.
While researching this cancer, it became obvious that the sulfur cycle plays an important role in the regeneration of our cells. The Study also found that the use of chemical fertilizers had effectively broken the sulfur cycle in countries that use these fertilizers.
Diseases we hadn’t even heard of have become typical, cancer has grown at an unprecedented rate, and the quality of our food has been greatly diminished. Is there a correlation here?
Since 1954, rates of disease in the U.S. have gone up approximately 4,000 percent.
And in 1954, chemical fertilizers were mandated by our government.
Fertilizers such as ammonium nitrates and sulfates, which lack bioavailability, appear to have broken the sulfur cycle.
This appears to have contributed to the decline of our health, wealth, mental acuity, and quality of life. We believe that when the Study is completed, it will clearly demonstrate a connection between the lack of sulfur and the inability of cells to regenerate in a healthy manner.
Linus Pauling said that all modern diseases can be attributed to a mineral deficiency.
Though Pauling is best known for his work with vitamin C, his statement was about minerals.
Most researchers say that sulfur is one of the most important of the trace minerals, around the fourth to sixth most important.
Study Results have yielded the following preliminary benefits from Organic Sulfur use.
-
Cancer is an anaerobic condition by definition.
Study members who had cancer and used chemotherapy who took 30 grams of sulfur during the chemotherapy had no side effects -- there was no hair loss, nausea, or diarrhea. There was, however, a surprisingly greater reduction of cancer cells counts, as reported by their oncologists. Lymphomas have been responding to Organic Sulfur both in decreased pain and decreased size of tumors.
-
Arthritis:
Organic sulfur, by comparison to commercially available MSM, is a remarkable mineral for arthritis, and produces the effects which have been reported. Those who had been taking Organic Sulfur reported much less pain and increased mobility. Many reported the straightening of finger joints, along with the resolution of internal scar tissue around the joints.
-
Osteoarthritis has been reported to respond to the ingestion of organic sulfur.
As can be observed in old photographs of our relatives prior to 1960, most people were not bent over prior to the historical breakdown of the sulfur cycle through fertilizer use.
-
Osteoporosis has also been addressed, though the numbers are too few to be significant.
Bone density tests are demonstrating reversal of bone thinning, or loss of bone density.
-
Skin conditions including acne, psoriasis, rosacea, toenail fungus, burns, liver spots, and disorders associated with Lupus Erythematosus have been eliminated. Sulfur can be used both internally and externally, but the cells which demonstrate the problem originate from the endothelial layer of the skin, which is better addressed by internal use.
-
Cardiovascular:
The results which were the most startling was the number of open-heart procedures which had been scheduled and were subsequently cancelled when the individual’s EKG returned to normal. This happened in as little as six weeks of ingesting Organic Sulfur. 54 cases like this have been reported. Our blood vessels also regenerate, and we believe that these cancelled surgical procedures could be an example of such regeneration. The group has also seen the reduction of scar tissue, high blood pressure, and the breakdown of calcium plaque in the arteries. Thus, we believe organic sulfur would be likely to benefit Alzheimer’s sufferers as well.
-
Diabetes is helped, because sulfur is necessary in the production of insulin as well as other sulfur-based amino acids necessary for the metabolism of carbohydrates.
-
Gastrointestinal disorders including acid indigestion, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut, and chronic constipation have been addressed with a dosage of organic sulfur at 1 rounded teaspoon per 100 pounds of body weight twice daily. Other digestive disorders such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease have not been observed to date, but we feel that the symptoms found in the literature will be alleviated with the use of sulfur.
-
Liver:
One of our members regenerated his liver after suffering 25 years from Hepatitis C, after 15 months of taking 2 tablespoons of organic sulfur twice a day.
-
Parasites find that the lining of the stomach and intestines too "pliable or slippery" to sink their hooks into.
-
Migraines and headaches have been alleviated.
-
ADD, ADHD, hyperactivity, depression, and mood swings are greatly relieved with the use of organic sulfur.
Organic sulfur acts as a stabilizer or mood elevator and relaxes the nervous system. We have reports of people getting off antidepressants and Ritalin within as little as three days of starting to take Organic Sulfur. Those who had been on antidepressants for a long time took a little longer. The ability of the body to produce its own glutathione appears to be the reason.
-
Respiratory:
Just as impressive were the Study members who were suffering from lung dysfunctions such as allergies, asthma, and emphysema. Those with more serious conditions stopped depending upon the bottled oxygen they had been carrying around, in spite of the fact that they might have continued smoking.
-
Glaucoma relief has been reported by Dr. Eldon Haus, MD and by a few members of the Study.
It appears that there is regeneration of the cells of the "drainage" system of the trabecular meshwork at the inner base of the iris. Subjects who suffer from increased intraocular pressure found that the drops they used to control their eye pressure often inhibited their ability to drive or read, where sulfur has not demonstrated any such corneal disturbance.
-
Hair:
Gray- and white-haired members have experienced a return to their natural color hair.
The natural color that gradually returns to the nape of the neck indicates the regeneration of the pigment glands at the base of the hair follicle. (NaturoDoc Note: Reversal of hair loss is also being reported by our users.)
-
Teeth and gums:
The power of oxygen may be best demonstrated in its ability to eradicate gum disease.
Organic sulfur, when used as an additive to toothpaste or tooth powder, appears to eliminate the plaque buildup on the teeth, but more importantly, it appears to regenerate the gums and "tighten" previously loose teeth.
Organic sulfur crystals can also be mixed into water or aloe gel to apply topically to nourish your cells through the skin.
The sulfur crystals are a perfect texture to brush your teeth with as well, bringing oxygen to the gums.

This sulfur-containing vitamin helps drive the Krebs cycle, the biochemical process that breaks down food for energy. A high intake of carbohydrates increases vitamin B1 requirements. Large supplemental doses of vitamin B1 can lower levels of microalbuminuria (a sign of kidney damage) in people with type 2 diabetes.

How Sun Exposure Helps Optimize Cardiovascular Health
(Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., a senior research scientist at MIT ), has found that high LDL IS correlated with cardiovascular disease, so the question then becomes: How can your body produce cholesterol sulfate without having to create harmful LDL?
Under normal, healthy conditions, your skin synthesizes vitamin D3 sulfate when exposed to sunlight.
Vitamin D3 sulfate is water soluble and can travel freely in your blood stream.
If you have sufficient amounts of vitamin D3 sulfate in circulation, your body does not need to produce more LDL to create sulfate-producing plaque.
In essence, sensible sun exposure may be an important part of heart and cardiovascular health.
Vitamin D3 supplements, on the other hand, are unsulfated.
This is a significant drawback, as the unsulfated form needs LDL as a vehicle of transport.
Seneff's suspicion is that the oral non-sulfated form of vitamin D likely will not provide the same benefits as the vitamin D created in your skin from sun exposure, because it cannot be converted to vitamin D sulfate.

430390-what-happens-if-you-get-too-much-sulfur-in-your-diet/
by May Fredenburg --- Oct. 03, 2017
Sulphur is normally present in urine as free sulphate, as sulphur containing amino acids, and, as molecules conjugated with with sulphate. The reported number reflects the total of all these forms. Urine sulphur excretion is directly related to ingested sulphur containing amino acids (from protein) and ingested inorganic sulphur (in the form of sulphates and sulphites).
Food sources of sulphur include
- kale,
- cabbage,
- cauliflower,
- horseraddish,
- cranberries,
- meat,
- fish,
- egg yokes,
- onion,
- garlic.
Pasteurization (of foods) reduces MSM levels by about 50%.
... the vegetables (that provide sulfur) are notorious for causing digestive problems in large amounts and in certain people.
The body processes two sulfur-containing amino acids in foods, methionine and cysteine, turning them into sulfur compounds necessary for proper functioning. Because these amino acids aren’t normally stored in the body, an overabundance of sulfur-containing foods will cause the compounds to be excreted in the urine, which can impart a strong odor to the urine. Sulfur-rich foods can also cause stomach problems and, embarrassingly, flatulence. The amino acid can build up in the body if you cannot metabolize cysteine properly and cause serious damage to many organs -- particularly the kidneys and the eyes, according to the (USA) National Institutes of Health. ... ongoing digestive issues may signal a problem with cysteine metabolism or another health issue that requires supplementation or treatment. ...
Decreased intake of sulphur containing amino acids and a diet low in sulphur containing vegetables might manifest with decreased excretion of sulphur.
Low intake of sulphur manifests with
- poor quality hair,
- skin and
- nails.
Proper bile formation and
proper wound healing also depends on an adequate supply of sulphur.
Both MSM and DMSO may cause certain side effects, such as
- headaches,
- dizziness,
- nausea, and
- diarrhea.
Side Effects:
... potential side effects at higher doses (of sulfur) include intestinal discomfort, ankle swelling and skin rashes.
These are likely detoxifying effects that can typically be mitigated or minimized by cutting back on the initial dosage and slowly working your way up.
It's quite common for people with mercury toxicity to have poor tolerance for foods high in sulfur.
The sulfur mobilizes mercury (and other toxins), thereby causing adverse effects.
Other food ingredients, such as food dyes, can exacerbate PST sulfation pathway problems by further suppressing PST enzyme activity. To address this situation, it's recommended you:
- Go on a low-sulfur diet to reduce the amount of phenols you consume
- Reduce the amount of toxins entering your body by eating organic and avoiding household toxins of all kinds
As your toxicity is reduced, you can start adding sulfur-rich foods back into your diet, one at a time.
Next, it's important to enhance your body's detoxification process by supplying more sulfate.
MSM, or the sulfur-containing amino acids cysteine and taurine can be used, but Epsom salt baths are often preferable here as the sulfur in Epsom salt is readily available to your body without having to be converted.
As a general recommendation, use 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salt to a tub of water.
The warmer the water, the more of the salt will be dissolved, and the more your body will be able to absorb, as the heat opens your pores. If you experience a negative reaction, such as irritability or hyperactivity, decrease the amount used and incrementally increase the amount based on your tolerance.
Alternatively, use one part Epsom salt to two parts water for a foot bath.
Soak your feet for about 30 minutes.
Notes : Sulfur Allergy, or Sulfite Sensitivity?
INDEX
https://blog.essense-of-life.com/sulfur-allergies-vs-sulfur-supplements/
Essense of Life --- October 9, 2017 --- The Essential Health Blog
... When a person says that they are allergic to sulfur, what they actually mean is that they are either sensitive to sulfites, which are preservatives found in red wines and some foods, or that they are allergic to sulfonamides, found in sulfa antibiotic drugs. Sulfites and sulfonamides, even though they sound similar to sulfur in name, are very different from one another and have unrelated mechanisms of action. Being sensitive to either of these sulfur-containing substances does not mean that you will react to the other. The reason? It’s not the sulfur component that’s the issue.
Sulfite Sensitivities
Sulfites belong to a group of chemicals that include sulfur dioxide and sulfite salts.
Sulfites can be found naturally in many aged or fermented foods including dried fruits, preserved meats, red wines, and pickled foods. In the body, sulfites are metabolized to sulfur dioxide, which can cause hypersensitivity reactions. People are not “allergic” to the sulfites, but instead have a sulfite intolerance. Symptoms of sulfite intolerance include headache, swollen or scratchy throat, rash, hives, nausea, stomach irritation, and breathing difficulties. Anaphylaxis is very rare but possible.
Sulfa Drug Allergies
A sulfa drug allergy is one of the more common drug allergies.
Sulfa drugs, a class of drugs which includes certain antibiotics and diuretics, contain a chemical group called sulfonamide.
It is an allergy to sulfonamide that most people are referring to when they say they have a “sulfur” allergy.
When a sulfonamide molecule is metabolized in the body, it can attach to proteins and form a larger molecule, which becomes an allergen in the 5% of the population which cannot clear it from the body. A reaction to sulfonamides is a true allergy involving antibodies and histamine, and which can escalate with each subsequent exposure. Symptoms of a sulfa drug allergic reaction can include fever, rash, redness, swelling, blistering, hives, joint pain, and (rarely) anaphylaxis. Severe reactions have been know to cause life-threatening internal membrane erosion. But importantly, the sulfur component of sulfa drugs is NOT the allergen, it is the drug-protein complex.

Take more - and drink more water. This might happen when you supply some sulfur and the body starts to dump toxins from the cells, but you don't have enough sulfur and water to remove as much as the body is eager to.
Some even take a teaspoon under the tongue every 10 minutes when experiencing pain until swollen cells release their toxins and the pain disappears.

Andy Cutler say about thiols?
Sulfur is an atom in many food molecules. Sometimes it is in the form of a thiol, and sometimes in another form that can be converted to a thiol. Sulfate and sulfite are the only forms that seems not to convert to a thiol. People with too many thiols running around stir up their heavy metal burdens and are in essence more poisoned than they have to be given the amount of metal present. High thiols also activate the allergic part of the immune system. Glutathione is one of the body’s major thiol containing molecules.
and
Methyl group production in the methionine cycle is intimately linked to other portions of the system, namely to folate and sulfate metabolism. These pathways cannot be isolated from one another. They supply each other with substrates and work together like gears, so if one cycle isn’t moving in a progressive direction, the other two may not be either.
...
Excess sulfur generates excess sulfur breakdown products like hydrogen sulfide, sulfite and other toxic molecules.
It can also result in
- reduced glutathione production
because of unbalanced and non-optimal function of the transsulfuration pathway.
Sulfur is able to directly
- activate the stress/cortisol response that can lead to
- elevations in adrenaline and
- depletion of dopamine and norepinephrine.
A constant state of fight or flight produces sympathetic versus parasympathetic overload and a wide range of secondary effects in the body, including
- changes in the magnesium/calcium ratio,
- decreased levels of serotonin and dopamine,
--- effects on the methionine cycle via BHMT pathway substrate levels,
- changes in GABA/glutamate balance, as well as potentially
- depleting important glucose metabolizing enzymes and
- causing blood sugar fluctuations.
...
the MTHFR genetic mutation prevents folic acid from converting to its active form which has a cascading effect on your health when your store of glutathione is eventually depleted. It can run in families also which might explain why my father’s chronic health problems are similar in some ways to mine. The failure of your detoxification system is not just genetic however. It’s a multi-factorial condition which may involve high stress or emotional trauma, use of antibiotics, infections, and toxic exposures ...
Mercury toxicity is like someone who has been hit with an arrow.
It caused damage going in, it is causing damage while it’s lodged in your body, and it causes damage when it is “yanked” out, so to speak. Not until it’s removed, can your body truly heal. Can you imagine healing with a big arrow stuck in your flesh?
Quote from Val at the FDC
... first, I suspected my illness revolved around mercury toxicity after a high mercury level showed up on a DDI whole blood elements test done in 2007. Regrettably, years went by before I did my first hair test in 2013 which confirmed the high mercury. But it also showed even higher copper levels, record-breaking high copper levels in fact. For some reason, however, I focused on the mercury and started doing low-dose chelation according to Dr. Cutler’s teachings. But, I failed to heed Dr. Cutler’s warning that copper toxicity must be addressed and resolved before attempting mercury chelation.
... I also started daily sauna which is a cornerstone therapy for high copper as studies show copper comes out in a sauna more readily than any other metal.
DuneWidget October 13, 2015,
I have the classic “sulfur makes me feel bad” symptoms.
... A messed up CBS can go either way. Don’t assume a homozygous CBS will boost sulfur output.
Sulfur is not bad for you just because your CBS is borked. In some people this genetic polymorphism speeds up production of sulfur, in others this slows it down. You sound like someone who could use a lot more sulfur, especially if your glutithione levels are so low.
Karis, feedback, February 3, 2016,
There IS something called sulfur intolerance.
It can be the result of an upregulated CBS enzyme (which I have).
If you are over-methylating (which I am), you may have this also.
Here is a quote from the GeneticGenie.org report on my 23andMe test results:
“CBS (cystathionine beta synthase) catalyzes the first step of the transsulfuration pathway, from homocysteine to cystathionine. CBS defects are actually an upregulation of the CBS enzyme. This means the enzyme works too fast. In these patients, it’s common to see low levels of cystathionine and homocysteine since there is a rapid conversion to taurine. This leads to high levels of taurine and ammonia. The CBS upregulation has been clinically observed to result in sulfur intolerance in some patients.
It has also been observed that BH4 can also become depleted with a CBS upregulation.
BH4 helps regulate neurotransmitters and mood. (Other mutations such as MTHFR A128C, chronic bacterial infections, and aluminum can also lead to low BH4 levels. Lack of BH4 can lead to mast cell degranulation and possibly mast cell activation disorder (MCAD).
NOTE:
While some physicians think the CBS mutation is one of the most important mutations to address, there is very little medical research to support these claims and some doctors in the field disagree. In normal populations, studies have shown CBS upregulations to be protective against high homocysteine. However, CBS upregulations have shown to be harmful in Down Syndrome. Medical research has not determined if CBS upregulations are harmful in those with syndromes or disorders leading to impaired methylation.”
Maybe this is TMI (too much information), as much of that quote may not apply to you, but if you have not had your genetic SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) analyzed (one option for doing so is at 23andMe.com), you might want to. It’s about $199 there. Then you can submit the results to GeneticGenie.org for analysis. They only ask for donations there.
Or you can just keep avoiding high-sulfur foods, which I’ve read can help down-regulate the CBS enzyme. ...
Peter March 2, 2016,
I tried listening to my body for a while but hat to quit when all those donuts made me really fat.
My gut feeling was telling me that I should eat the donut. Then I did some research and found out that the parasites inside our gut have a direct communication link to our basal ganglia (the region of our brain responsible for conditioning (ie) the reward centre). This communication link is called the vagus nerve.
So if you want to base your diet on what your body is telling you, then exactly who was it that told you to do that?
In response to the lady who ate all that brocolli, this is just one of the downsides of being naturally inquisitive (that you get burnt from time to time). As a result you learned that sulphur is nasty hence the smell. I got burnt when I fully embraced the whole fermentation and canning fad and I’m still suffering but I will never tell myself to stop being curious. The bad smell from sulphur is just information from a non parasitic source within in you which is telling you to stay away from the stuff.
Mark Power example/feedback:
To get rid of the copper I was religious about supporting the adrenals with adaptogens of various types as well as large amounts of Vit C ..., magnesium bisglycinate, manganese, 300 mg zinc citrate/day (very High amounts) for nearly a year ... and 3 mg chelated copper daily, two weeks on, two weeks off for a couple of months. ...
Most of the copper is going to go out in the bile so your liver must be cleansed periodically with lemon juice and olive oil flushes. ...
(after being advised that his major problem was iron toxicity, not copper) ...
I started using the natural iron chelation supplements phytic acid, lactoferrin, milk thistle and rutin. I noticed an uptick in die-off from my seemingly interminable gut infection. This makes sense because iron feeds fungal and bacterial infections. ...
B12 and folate feed fungal infections.
Ok, I get it, for years I had been doing almost everything possible to keep my gut infection thriving: hydrocortisone supplementation, iron overload, copper toxicity/copper deficiency (bioavailable), and high dose methylation supplements.
Note also that Candida overgrowth seems to go hand-in-hand with copper toxicity because Candida requires copper for its proliferation.
At the same time I started with the copper (MitoActivator) I also began giving it to my wife who has Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and craves chocolate (high in copper) like no one I’ve ever seen before. Since Morley Robbins asserts Hashimoto’s is caused by copper deficiency, it seemed like a good bet because the immune system requires healthy copper metabolism to function well.
She’s also very low in iron, so a week before beginning the copper she started taking desiccated liver. Because she started two supplements around the same time, we don’t know why it’s happening, but she’s remarkably better! Her energy and mood are much improved and her hands felt warm last night (I can’t even remember the last time that occurred). Of course, liver also has high levels of copper in it, in addition to the heme iron. ...
James, feedback, September 23, 2016,
After reading a lot of your webpage, I’m going to give you some advice. ...
The main problem you are having is a *major* deficiency in boron.
... Your cells are having communication issues.
No matter how much copper, mercury, or lead you forcibly chelate, the problem is just going to keep coming back. ….
The problem stems from the (dental) fillings you had replaced.
You should have removed the silver amalgam and went with gold.
Instead, you put composites in. Have you read the FULL MSDS and analyzed it fully?
You will see the new composites are full of nano-particles of inorganic aluminum, titanium, silicon, or zirconium. All of these, in an inorganic, nano-particle format, are displacing boron from your CSF fluid and slowly lobotomizing you. They are disrupting cellular communication, so messages are scrambled as they get to the cells, so your cells don’t have clear instructions on how to use your PERFECT DNA. ... Boron is the #2 mineral is CSF fluid. Read: Multi-platform characterization of the human cerebrospinal fluid metabolome: a comprehensive and quantitative update.
With that being said, what the “safe, composite” metals are now doing in your mouth is called “synergistic toxicity.” You are never going to be working 100% unless you get them out and replaced with gold, nobel gases, ruthium, rhodium, platinum, or palladium. Sorry, but we knew this almost 200 years ago, and this is why most fillings were made of gold at this time. This has been well-hidden from our knowledge, but it’s deep in the Catholic teachings of yesteryear.
First, take boron. Lots of it, and make sure it’s 100% pure sodium borate.
Do not take any other supplements, esp B vitamins. You terrain and body will dictate what needs to be made and when. Second, you need iodine, like ~80% of americans do. Not too much, and dose transdermally.
Third, don’t get short on selenium, and do not use supplements for this; only natural food forms (99% of “vitamins” are dosed with metal nanoparticles now, like SiO2, TiO2, microcrystalline cellulose, etc).
It’s the crystals that boron forms in our body that enable terrific cell communication, hence your cells get to open their genetic library (DNA), and start doing what they are supposed to do.
Olly, feedback, March 21, 2018
... I also came across enzymes like nattokinase and lumbrokinase that can dissolve the mucus layer that protect certain kinds of bacteria. Within this mucus layer are heavy metals accumulated by this bacteria. Borellia does also use this mechanism to protect itself. When this mucuslayer is dissolved the bacteria is vulnerable to (natural) antibiotics.
You can take the enzyme along with EDTA on an empty stomach.
Wait for 30 minutes and take antibiotics. I take natural ones like oil of oregano, been, boswellia and echinacea.
Wait another 30 minutes.
Take something to bind to the garbage.
I use modified citrus pectin, Chinese chlorella and seleniummethionine.
The seleniummethionine actually binds mercury. If you get a headache you need more of the selenium. ...

... the possibility of manganese toxicity as a primary cause.
It’s documented to feed Lyme disease and is a synergistic mineral with iron.
I self diagnosed myself with manganese overload for sure this past December. ... A standard American diet with high focus on grains (especially whole) will quickly lead to build up of excess manganese, even more so in individuals who use multi-vitamins in an attempt to be “healthier”.
Manganese is the easiest mineral from a dietary standpoint to become overloaded in.
A single 1 cup bowl of brown rice will get you close to your RDA, and it is likely we aren’t even utilizing an RDA worth of micro minerals. Conversely, potassium is the hardest element to reach the RDA with. ... Obesity, because high levels of essential micro-mineral overload slows down the thyroid and metabolism, again either by way of oxidation damage directly to organ tissues or the excreted chemicals of infections feeding on the mineral overloads.
You will likely have to look into mega-dosing potassium such as cream of tartar.
The faster (higher dosing) you go the more discomfort bowel movements will be, it gives diarrhea likely because of the co-infections feed on the manganese that gets pushed out. You will also have to go on a simple carbohydrate style diet eating only simple sugars for carb source. But unlike SCD you have to avoid all the high manganese vegetables, nuts, seeds, pineapple, etc. All fruit and vegetable meals should be consumed with a whole food source of vitamin c, .... Vegetables should be mostly high vitamin c cruciferous. Eat zinc rich meats separately so vitamin c doesn’t chelate it.
... Although curcumin, milk thistle, sulfur, and whole food vitamin c powders are seemingly helpful at assisting with detox. But by and large drinking tons of water and getting tons of potassium is the most potent remedy. ... Because we’re already overloaded in minerals that use vitamin e (copper, manganese, zinc) and vitamin a (iron) … and every breath we take for respiration is causing further oxidation.
Because potassium is synergistic with copper and antagonistic to manganese I believe insufficient intake of potassium will allow for both to build up to toxic levels and start effecting organ health. From what Roth states the body doesn’t actually extensively store potassium like it does other elements. It seems to get burned fast with physical activity, stress, and sugar consumption.
... The copper isn’t getting put to use because she (and most people) is lucky if she consumes half the RDA for potassium. I suspect your experiencing a similar imbalance from low potassium intake and that could be why you continue to struggle with the copper side of toxicity. Both copper and manganese toxicity can lead to a variety of mental health problems and insomnia. Depression and anxiety is the most common and schizophrenic behavior as well. ... potassium in large volumes seems to exhibit a purging effect on manganese, hence the burning diarrhea, but potassium being an electrolyte seems different than micro-minerals.
Ronald Roth said that sulfur helps draw out copper ...

Maintains Healthy Joint Structure and Function.
- A beneficial form of sulfur
- Reduces joint pain and inflammation
- Helps reduce allergy symptoms and improves nutrient absorption
- Provides an effective dose
MSM or methylsulfonylmethane is a naturally occurring form of organic sulfur found in living organisms that is commonly used to treat osteoarthritis. In humans, sulfur is present throughout the body in several organic compounds and is a factor in a number of different processes in the body. Sulfur is used to produce vital nutrients such as amino acids, some of which are involved in detoxification and pain relief. MSM holds our basic connective tissues together, forming the elemental structure of proteins, and is required for a number of enzymatic functions. This is where MSM’s application in osteoarthritis is so crucial.
MSM is primarily used to reduce the symptoms of knee pain and reduced physical function in osteoarthritis due to its anti-inflammatory and connective tissue supporting activities. It may also help reduce muscle pain and cramps due to its ability to reduce lactic acid production. MSM is also useful for ameliorating the symptoms of seasonal and other types of allergies.
Main Applications:
- Allergies
- Anti-inflammatory
- Parasites
- Detoxificant
- Psoriasis
- Eczema
Medicinal ingredients Per 1 Capsule:
1000 mg Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM)
Non-medicinal ingredients: sodium stearyl fumarate.
Capsule: hypromellose.
Dosage: (Adult): Take 1 capsule three times daily with food, ...
Use for a minimum of 4 weeks for beneficial effects.
Knee Pain
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot clinical trial which was conducted on fifty men and women, 40-76 years of age with knee OA pain, it was found that 3g of MSM given for 12 weeks in total improved the symptoms of pain and physical function of the participants without any adverse events as compared to the placebo group during the treatment period. MSM also produced improvement in performing activities of daily living when compared to placebo.
In another preliminary study of methylsulfonylmethane, this double-blind small-scale study found that more than 80 percent of those who took 2250 milligrams of MSM daily for six weeks reported an average 82% improvement in pain relief, compared to an 18% improvement reported by those receiving the placebo.
MSM and Allergies
A study conducted to evaluate the efficacy of MSM in the reduction of SAR-associated symptoms found that MSM supplementation at an amount of 2,600 mg/day for 30 days may be efficacious in the reduction of symptoms associated with SAR. Also important to note is that few side effects are associated with the intake of MSM.

Organic Sulfur is another name for MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), an organic form of sulfur found in all living organisms, plant and animal. It is biologically active, able to be used by the body for building proteins like collagen (forming skin, cartilage, muscle and joints), glutathione (a cellular antioxidant which helps the liver and cells detoxify), and many enzymes made by the body. ...
Our minimally processed MSM, made in America with no additives, works better than MSM which has been ground down to small power or packed into capsules. Most processed MSM has anti-caking agents, and possibly other flow agents used n machines which then combine with the MSM molecule rendering it much less effective. instead, MSM crystals which are not so processed provide maximum sulfur to combine with the toxic substances and wastes inside the body rendering them harmless as they are eliminated.
After having researched this, we cannot any longer recommend MSM in capsules or fine ground crystals as these do not get the results we've all heard of and would like to see from MSM. The results are much too mild compared to what is possible in terms of energy and health. This minimally processed Organic Sulfur has the largest crystal size of any available on the market. So it is better soluble, and more absorbable, giving you the maximum effect at the lowest dosages. Get more benefits using less, and ultimately spend less. ...
Why are We Missing Essential Sulfur?
... In the days before petro-chemical fertilizers, farmers added animal manure to fields, naturally enriching the soil with high levels of sulfur for crops. Also, sulfur was normally present in even in unfertilized soils, available as part of the a natural sulfur cycle, moving from volcanic gas in the ocean, then released into the air, finally to fall in rainwater into the soil.
Since 1954 chemical fertilizers have been used by farmers that combines with the sulfur naturally present and removes it from availability for plants or humans. Even when these fertilizers contain sulfides, these lack bioavailability and we are starving for energy. We appear to have broken the Sulfur cycle in countries that use chemical fertilizers.
As Mike Adams of NaturalNews.com said so well,
"Today, the industrialized farming and transportation methods employed by the large agri-giants that grow most of our food have virtually eliminated necessary sulfur from not only the soil, but from food itself. And what little sulfur is left in food gets eliminated through processing, refrigeration, dehydration and cooking."
Features:
- 99.9% pure premium. Third party lab certified for purity and quality
- are hand-packed (less machines is better for you)
- has NO fillers or anti-caking agents which can destroy effectiveness
- are not ground-up (grinding destroys molecular structure)
- are the largest granular crystal size available, the least processed
- are distilled (vs crystallized) to actually remove impurities
- are made in America from quality American DMSO
Ways to dissolve the sulfur in water:
Stir into a glass of hot water to dissolve fast.
The easiest way - Dissolve your sulfur in room temperature water overnight.
Put 2 spoonfuls into a liter-size glass water bottle filled with pure water, shake a couple of times, and let it sit overnight or all the day, and it will dissolve over time without heating. You can fill it at night and have it ready to drink in the morning! As soon as you finish one water bottle, fill your water bottle again and add more sulfur and let it sit the rest of the day until you are ready to drink it again.
Do not take with tap water because chlorine deactivates the sulfur (combines with it so it is not available to the body).
We recommend you use a glass bottle if you are going to soak the sulfur overnight, so that it doesn't combine with any plastic. This is a highly reactive sulfur that you want detoxifying you!
Do not take organic sulfur MSM at the same time as any supplement capsules (or any medications) because the chemicals used in processing and packaging will also combine with the sulfur rendering it less beneficial.
In fact, sulfur readily combines with toxic substances and cellular wastes once it is in your bloodstream and tissue to render them harmless and able to be carried out of the body. So don't take your MSM with other things it might combine with before your body can absorb it!
It is preferable to take Organic Sulfur on an empty stomach, so nothing interferes with its full, fast utilization in the body. You can take it with food or juice, but some of it will combine with the food for less effective action. There is NO toxicity to pure organic sulfur crystals.
Once you feel the benefits, you can more easily put up with the slightly bitter taste.
Some busy people even eat it straight, chewing a spoonful of sulfur crystals and drinking plenty of pure water afterwards.

Ingredients per capsule:
- 500 mg --- Methylsulfonylmethane (Providing 333 mg of Sulfur)
- 500 mg --- Glucosamine Sulfate K2SO4
MSM is methylsulfonylmethane, an important volatile component of the sulfur cycle and a rich source of organic sulfur, which is concentrated in connective tissues and joint cartilage.
Glucosamine sulfate is an amino monosaccharide produced by chondrocytes, which is essential to the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, the building blocks of connective tissue and articular cartilage. Research supports a role for MSM and Glucosamine in maintaining healthy joint structure and function.
In humans, sulfur is present throughout the body in several organic compounds and is a factor in a number of different processes in the body. It is used to produce such vital substances as amino acids, including taurine (which stabilizes cell membranes), and methionine (which detoxifies cells and is involved in pain relief).
MSM, also known as methyl sulfone, methylsulfonylmethane, or dimethylsulfone (DMSO2), is an organic, odorless, naturally-occurring sulfur compound present in small amounts in many foods and beverages. MSM as a supplement is useful for
- ameliorating upset stomachs,
- improving people's resistance to allergies,
- reducing pain from inflammatory disorders, and
- helping the body rid itself of parasites.
In the last decade, however, MSM has carved out a particular niche for itself as an effective adjunct to any formulation pertinent to the maintenance of healthy joint structure and function.
Helping the Joints via Anti-inflammatory/Anti-oxidant Pathways
Inflammatory disorders, such as arthritis, can cause persistent and sometimes debilitating pain.
MSM has been shown to significantly relieve the pain and inflammation caused by inflammatory disorders.
It has been shown to significantly reduce night time leg cramps, back cramps, and muscle spasms.
Sulfur is concentrated in or around osseous (bone or turning to bone) structures and sulfur supplementation supports healthy muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The mechanism for MSM's anti-inflammatory action appears to be intrinsically related to it's concurrent role as an anti-oxidant against the specific free radicals of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide, and hypochlorous acid. These free radicals play an initiatory role in the inflammation process that is the underlying cause of so many maladies related to the joints.
Other Uses
MSM has also been used for a number of other ailments and to support a number of other systems in the body.
- allows the body to absorb more nutrients from food
- helps circulation, hair and nail growth,
- assists the healing process itself
- causes the body to secrete more taurine
---- (an amino acid that is vital to cardiovascular activity) in tissues
- neutralizes the toxicity of a chemical called anticholinesterase, which is contained in many insecticides.
- reduces the lactic acid buildup that occurs after strenuous exercise.
---- Lactic acid buildup occurs as muscles are exercised, but endurance training reduces lactic acid buildup, much as MSM does.
Glucosamine:
What is it and how does it work?
... Glucosamine is an amino sugar used to create cushioning fluids and tissues around joints.
It also repairs damaged arthritic joints, reduces pain, and builds synovial fluids.
It is easily absorbed into the bloodstream, and is necessary in the formation of skin, eyes, bones, tendons, nails, ligaments, and parts of the heart.
Glucosamine is also referred to as an aminomonosaccharide, meaning that it is the product of the synthesis between glucose and an amino acid - in this case glutamine. This enzymatic process is called glucosamine synthetase. Most glucose and nearly half of all amino acids are obtained through dietary sources, but the aminomonosaccharides found in our bodies are formed internally, and dietary sources for them are negligible. Glucosamine is produced naturally in the body by chondrocytes in cartilage to help maintain and build healthy joint tissue.
The main basic purpose of glucosamine is to create long chains of modified disaccharides called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which the joints and cartilage require for repair. The GAGs are the main component of proteoglycans (PGs), which along with chondrocytes and collagen, make up cartilage. Glucosamine is also converted in the body to N-acetyl-glucosamine, which in turn is critical to the formation of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is the central component of synovial fluid which acts as a lubricant in the joints.
When used in combination, methylsulfonylmethane and glucosamine seem to produce superior results than when they are used separately. An example of this synergy has been clearly demonstrated in another study of osteoarthritis, this one examining the benefits of MSM and glucosamine both separately and in combination. It was concluded that in areas such as pain reduction, swelling, joint mobility, as well as analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity, that MSM and glucosamine sulfate worked more rapidly and more effectively together than they did separately.

Our Glucosamine and Chondroitin are both 100% sulfate, the most studied form of these nutrients. In addition, we also include MSM (Methylsulphonylmethane), an organic form of sulfur found in all living organisms. Studies have shown that these nutrients provide dietary components that support healthy joint structure and function.
Ingredients:
- 367 mg --- Glucosamine Sulfate (potassium chloride from shellfish exoskeleton)
- 400 mg --- Chondroitin Sulfate (chondroitin sulfate sodium)
- 100 mg --- MSM (methylsuiphonylmethane)
Other Ingredients:
- Capsule (gelatin, water),
- Magnesium stearate (vegetable source)
- Contains shellfish (crab, shrimp, lobster, crayfish) derivative.
Glucosamine is derived from glucose and glutamine (an amino acid).
It is used to produce substances in the body that attract and bind water into tissues, making them more resilient.
It is especially important to maintain properly functioning joint structures.
When scientists first began studying glucosamine and chondroitin in the 1970s, they were amazed that not only did the subjects experience less pain, but also - and more importantly- their formerly degenerating cartilage had begun to repair itself. When they took a closer look at the way glucosamine and chondroitin were actually working to reduce pain and repair cartilage, they found that both of them were extremely important for normal joint health.
They found that glucosamine and chondroitin are both building blocks for the molecules that make up tendons, ligaments, bones, and synovial fluid. They also supply a very important molecule called "proteo-glycans", a substance in joint cartilage.
The problem they found was that with age, the ability to regenerate and restore joint structure begins to fail, often due to a decrease in the natural production of glucosamine sulfate in the body. This deficiency causes the production of new joint and connective tissue to slow, causing it to both weaken. The result is pain and stiffness.
A deficiency in either glucosamine or chondroitin may lead to osteoarthritis, which is a breakdown of joint structure that manifests itself as stiffness (especially after periods of rest), creaking and cracking joints, as well as pain.
What is Chondroitin?
Chondroitin sulfate is a component of cartilage, the connective tissue disk that acts as a cushion in your joints.
Cartilage also forms other parts of the body like the outer ear, tip of the nose and lining of the vessels. Cartilage is a mix of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and chondroitin is the most abundant type of GAG. Chondroitin sulfate absorbs water, making the cartilage thick and spongy, to distribute forces evenly over the joint. Loss of chondroitin makes the disk dry and brittle, lessening its ability to cushion. Chondroitin also inhibits enzymes that break down cartilage and is a part of other joint tissues.
Reducing Joint Pain Naturally
Most people over age 35 have at least some wear and tear in their joints, but that doesn't mean it should cramp your style.
Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis.
It usually has a gradual onset and begins after the age of forty.
The knees, hips, fingers and vertebrae are most susceptible.
The joint deterioration is due to faulty or deficient repair of bone and cartilage in the joint.
The standard North American diet is deficient in the minerals necessary for proper joint repair; therefore it is not surprising that osteoarthritis is a common concern. Osteoarthritis causes stiffness and joint pain on motion.
It is typically worse in the morning.
Initially there is no inflammation or swelling of the joint.
As the damage progresses the joint may become inflamed and deformed.
Muscles around the joint can tense up, joint mobility may decrease and there may be a grating feeling on movement.
The pain becomes constant and occurs even when at rest.
Drug Treatments Actually Worsen Arthritis
Conventional treatment with non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAI's) has been shown to worsen arthritis.
Side effects of some drugs are gastrointestinal bleeding, stomach ulcers, heart attacks and liver problems.
Some of these medications, especially the NSAID group can actually accelerate the degradation of joint tissue.
Corticosteroids like cortisone and prednisone sometimes prescribed for arthritis, while effective at relieving discomfort in the short term, can cause a loss of bone mass.

NAC - 100 VCAPS --- take 1 capsule 2 times daily
N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC) is a stable form of the non-essential amino acid L-Cysteine.
It is a sulfur-containing amino acid that acts as a stabilizer for the formation of protein structures, and is also necessary for the formation of glutathione. Molybdenum and Selenium are essential trace minerals that facilitate the production of several important enzymes.
Ingredients: per capsule
- 50 mcg --- Molybdenum (as Amino Acid Chelate)
- 25 mcg --- Selenium (as L-Selenomethionine)
- 600 mg --- N-Acetyl Cysteine
Other Ingredients:
- Cellulose (capsule),
- Stearic Acid (vegetable source) and
- Citric Acid
N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is a derivative of the amino acid L-cysteine and is a more stable form of this amino acid for supplementation. NAC is a precursor to the important antioxidant, glutathione. Glutathione works in the liver to change chemicals and metabolic byproducts into harmless substances for excretion from the body. NAC is also an antioxidant in its own right. It detoxifies heavy metals like mercury, cadmium and lead.
It protects all cells of the body from damage due to aging, helps immune cells kill invading microbes (especially viruses) and stops cells from being harmed by radiation and chemotherapy.
NAC is recommended ... for
- frequent colds and flus,
- asthma,
- bronchitis,
- acetaminophen toxicity,
- heavy metal toxicity,
- side effects of cancer treatment,
- AIDS and decreased liver functioning.
- to improve the body’s glutathione levels.
Selenium
Selenium is an important trace mineral that people may be deficient in because they eat food from areas where the selenium content of the soil is low. Selenium’s most important function is as an antioxidant where it protects the cell from damage and prevents the oxidation of other vitamins and nutrients. It does this by neutralizing free radicals. They are unstable molecules that in their bid to become more stable must bump into healthy cells and cause damage. Free radicals contribute to cardiovascular disease by producing oxidized LDL cholesterol, which causes atherosclerotic plaques.
Selenium’s antioxidant properties also help in cancer, which can result from free radicals damaging cellular genetic material. It is believed to be an anti-aging vitamin because as an antioxidant it protects the body against environmental pollutants other substances that lead to aging.
Selenium regulates fat metabolism by controlling the production of thyroid hormone.
Selenium and vitamin E act together to produce the antibodies which are important for protecting the body from infections.
Selenium supplementation is particularly important for men because selenium concentrates in the testicles and is lost through seminal fluid. Selenium, vitamin E and zinc have been shown to reduce prostate inflammation.
Selenium has been used to treat
- male infertility,
- asthma,
- arthritis,
- cataracts,
- AIDS,
- hypothyroidism,
- alcoholic cirrhosis and
- high blood pressure.

Feedback:
... I started mixing it with psyllium husks and vitamin C powder recently and it tastes like grapefruit juice.
I'm noticing a big improvement in my acne. I feel so much less inflamed.
My body feels clean inside and out. I noticed the most improvement taking it twice a day.
I get massive energy from it, and it makes me so happy.
I avoid taking it at night just in case it prevents me from sleeping.
I haven't feel this good for over ten years. I had a major detox in the beginning, so don't give up.
I think it lasted a few weeks but the first week I had a major acne flare up and just detoxed in every way.
I expected it, so I wasn't worried. Going to be buying another bag soon.
I don't see myself ever stopping this supplement. I can tell my body was missing it.

Bone Broth.
Despite the fact that sulfur is found in many foods, it can still be a challenge to get sufficient amounts from your diet.
Again, this is largely a problem stemming from the demineralization of soils in which the food is grown. Perhaps the best way to ensure sufficient amounts of sulfur from your diet is to cook down bones from organically raised animals into bone broth.
Either drink the broth regularly, or use for soups and stews.
The connective tissues are sulfur-rich, and when you slow-cook the bones, you dissolve these nutrients out of the bone and into the water.
Broccoli.
... to maximize the cancer-fighting potential of broccoli it's important to not overcook it.
You also don't want to eat it raw. When you eat raw mature broccoli, you only get about 12 percent of the total sulforaphane content theoretically available based on the parent compound.
Steaming your broccoli spears for three to four minutes will optimize the sulforaphane content by eliminating epithiospecifier protein — a heat-sensitive sulfur-grabbing protein that inactivates sulforaphane — while still retaining the enzyme myrosinase, which converts glucoraphanin to sulforaphane. Without it, you cannot get any sulforaphane. Avoid boiling or microwaving your broccoli past the one-minute mark, as this will destroy a majority of the myrosinase.
If you want to boil your broccoli, blanch it in boiling water for no more than 20 to 30 seconds, then immerse it in cold water to stop the cooking process. Adding myrosinase-containing food, such as mustard seed, daikon radishes, wasabi or cole slaw to the broccoli can maximize sulforaphane content even further.
