Silicon is the most abundant electropositive element in The Earth’s crust.
It’s a metalloid with a marked metallic luster and very brittle.
It is usually tetravalent in its compounds, although sometimes its bivalent, and it’s purely electropositive in its chemical behaviour. Moreover, pentacoordinated and hexacoordinated silicon compounds are also known.

Natural silicon contains 92.2% of the isotope 28, 4.7% of silicon 29 and 3.1% of silicon 30.
Apart from those stable natural isotopes, various radiactive artificial isotopes are known.
Elemental silicon has the physical properties of metalloids, similar to the ones or germanium, situated under it in the group IV of the periodic table. Silicon is an intrinsic semiconductor in it’s purest form, although the intensity of its semiconduction is highly increased by introducing small quantities of impurities. Silicon is similar to metals in its chemical behaviour.

It’s almost as electropositive as tin and much more positive than germanium or lead.
According to this metallic character, it forms tetrapositive ions and various covalent compounds; it appears as a negative ion only in a few silicides and as a positive constituent of oxyacids or complex anions.

It forms various series of hydrides, various halides (many of which contain silicon-silicon bounds) and many series of compounds which contain oxygen, which can have ionic or covalent properties.

There is (2007) considerable interest in the effects of silica on human health in contrast to prior research which focused solely on the toxic effects of inhaled crystalline silica. However, multiple forms of silica exist in nature and silicon, a component, is the second most prevalent element after oxygen. Silica has widespread industrial applications including use as a food additive, i.e., anti-caking agent, as a means to clarify beverages, control viscosity, as an anti-foaming agent, dough modifier, and as an excipient in drugs and vitamins.

Chemically, silica is an oxide of silicon, viz., silicon dioxide, and is generally colorless to white and insoluble in water. When associated with metals or minerals the family of silicates is formed. There are several water soluble forms of silica referred collectively to as silicic acid (ortho, meta, di, and tri-silicates), which are present in surface and well water in the range of 1--100 mg/L.

Orthosilicic acid is the form predominantly absorbed by humans and is found in numerous tissues including bone, tendons, aorta, liver and kidney. Compelling data suggest that silica is essential for health although no RDI has been established. However, deficiency induces deformities in skull and peripheral bones, poorly formed joints, reduced contents of cartilage, collagen, and disruption of mineral balance in the femur and vertebrae.

Very little toxicity data exist regarding aqueous silica consumption due, in part, to the lack of anecdotal reports of toxicity and general presumption of safety. However, a few rodent studies have been conducted, which indicate a No Observed Adverse Effects Level (NOAEL) of 50,000 ppm (mg/L) for dietary silica. In conclusion, many forms of silica exist in nature and compelling data support myriad beneficial effects of silica in water.

Applications
Silicon is the principal component of glass, cement, ceramics, most semiconductor devices, and silicones, the latter a plastic substance often confused with silicon. Silicon is also an important constituent of some steels and a major ingredient in bricks. It is a refractory material used in making enamels and pottery.

Elemental raw silicon and its intermetallic compounds are used as alloy integrals to provide more resistance to the aluminium, magnesium, copper and other metals. Metallurgic silicon with 98-99% purity is used as raw material in the manufacture of organosilicic and silicon resins, seals and oils. Silicon chips are used in integrated circuits. Photovoltaic cells for direct conversion of solar energy use thin cut slices of simple silicon crystals of electronic grade. Silicon dioxide is used as raw material to produce elemental silicon and silicon carbide. Big silicon crystals are used for piezoelectric glasses. Melted quartz sands are transformed in silicon glasses which are used in laboratories and chemical plants, as well as in electric insulators. A colloidal dispersion of silicon in water is used as a coating agent and as ingredient for certain enamels.

It is known that silicon forms compounds with 64 out of the 96 stable elements and possibly form silicides with other 18 elements. Apart from metallic silicides, which are used in big quantities in metallurgy, it forms important commonly used compounds with hydrogen, carbon, halogens, nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur. Moreover, many useful organosilicic by-products.

Silicon in the environment
Silicon is found in many dioxide forms and in uncountable variations from the natural silicates.

Silicon is much more abundant than any other element, apart from the oxygen.
It constitutes 27,72% of the solid Earth’s crust, while the oxygen constitutes 46,6%, and the next element after silicon, aluminium, is found in a 8,13%.

Sand is used as source of the silicon produced commercially.
A few siliate minerals are mined, e.g. talc and mica.
Other mined silicates are feldspars, nephenile, olivine, vermiculite, perlite, kaolinite, etc.

At the other extreme there are forms of silica so rare that they are desirable for this reason alone: gemstone opal, agate and rhinestone.

... Minerals are enzyme catalysts. They activate enzymes.
They do not do anything in isolation and therefore require a full compliment of good protein, fats, and carbohydrates to create the well functioning organic system we know of as our body.

Silicon concentrates in no particular organ of the body but is found mainly in in connective tissues and skin.
Silicon is non-toxic as the element and in all its natural forms, ... silica and silicates, which are the most abundant.

    Benefits of Silica.

    • Lowers bad cholesterol,
    • Lowers blood pressure,
    • Improves nail, skin, hair, and joint health,
    • Fades age spots,
    • Stimulates metabolism,
    • Regulates and normalizes bowels,
    • Heavy metal chelation,
    • Anti-inflammatory,
    • Helps normalize circulation,
    • Helps prevent kidney stones and is a natural diuretic.

  1. Biological Activator,
  2. Metabolism Accelerator,
  3. Cellular Stimulator,
  4. natural synthesis of collagen,
  5. Internal cleansing of cellular activity waste by-product,
  6. increasing systemic regeneration and repair.
  7. ehance alkalization and balance pH,
  8. boost vascular flexibility & joint mobility,
  9. promote health tissue formation,
  10. build bone density for stronger bones, teeth & nails,
  11. increase natural synthesis of collagen& elastin.

Silica hydrate is the result of silica binding to water molecules.
When taken as a supplement, it hydrates cells and acts as a powerful antioxidant.
Silica hydrate neutralizes free radicals to help preserve cellular and molecular integrity.
Like other antioxidants, it scavenges free radicals without becoming one itself.

  1. Silica and Our Skin
Silica is extremely beneficial in terms of promoting healthy skin.
As we get older, natural collagen levels drop to the point where skin condition visibly deteriorates and shows signs of aging. Silica is found abundantly in collagen which we know is the most needed component to maintain youthful, healthy skin. Silica combats common signs of aging by improving the elasticity of skin, enhancing collagen formation and improve overall skin tone.

  2. Silica and Silicic Acid in Drinking Water
Silica and silicic acid are present in water, especially mineral waters, and silicon in water may have benefit against Alzheimer’s disease. Ingestion of aluminum may be a risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Drinking one liter of silicon-rich mineral water per day for 12 weeks increased urinary aluminum excretion in human subjects, according to a study published in a 2013 issue of “Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.” Silica, but not silicic acid, in drinking water was found to decrease intestinal aluminum absorption, according to a study published in the April 2000 issue of “The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition."

  3. Silicon and Connective Tissue Health
Silicon ... appears to be needed for the formation of complex carbohydrate-protein molecules called glycosaminoglycans that are important connective tissue components. Evidence suggests that silicon also stimulates formation of collagen, a protein that gives connective tissues strength, resiliency and flexibility. Connective tissues are structural components of artery walls, and silicon in artery wall connective tissue may inhibit the buildup of fatty plaque that causes cardiovascular disease.

  4. Silicon and Bone Formation
Experimental studies with animals and people suggest that adequate silicon intake may be important for bone mineralization and for preventing bone mineral loss. The role of silicon in bone health appears to be in the formation and stabilization collagen. In a study published in the February 2004 issue of the “Journal of Bone and Mineral Research,” dietary silicon intake level was directly related to hip bone mineral density in men and premenopausal women, but not in postmenopausal women.

  5. Benefits of Silica on Detoxification:
These are explained in detail elsewhere in this document. INDEX

  6. Immune System Benefits of Silica:
... Silica induces an alkaline environment that neutralizes extra acidity that affects the body's immune system.
Moreover, by maintaining the integrity of the nails, skin and enhancing faster healing process of wounds, silica allows the skin to play its most crucial role as a barrier to pathogens.

  7. Benefits of Silica on Blood Flow and Atherosclerosis:
The plaque accumulation in arteries is prevented by silica.
Thus, it prevents clog-up of the vessels and subsequently prevents (reduces) hypertension.
It has been found that the silica level is higher in healthy hearts than the pathologic ones.
Silica enhances the utilization of calcium and thus prevents calcification or calcium build-up in arteries (and) other tissues ....

  8. Silica Helps in Restoration of the Respiratory Tract Mucosa:
Dehydration causes destruction and breach of mucosa.
Consuming silica allows the mucosa to restore and play its role in preventing the further entry of infection in to the lower respiratory tract which may be more adverse.

Elemental silicon is an inert material, which appears to lack the property of causing fibrosis in lung tissue.
However, slight pulmonary lesions have been reported in laboratory animals from intratracheal injections of silicon dust.
Silicon dust has little adverse affect on lungs and does not appear to produce significant organic disease or toxic effects when exposures are kept beneath exposure limits. Silicon may cause chronic respiratory effects. Crystalline silica (silicon dioxide) is a potent respiratory hazard. However, the likelihood of crystalline silica generation during normal processing is very remote. LD50 (oral)- 3160 mg/kg. (LD50: Lethal dose 50. Single dose of a substance that causes the death of 50% of an animal population from exposure to the substance by any route other than inhalation. Usually expressed as milligrams or grams of material per kilogram of animal weight.)

    Symptoms of Silica toxicity.

    • destroys vitamin B1,
    • potassium loss,
    • lowered blood pressure,
    • itching,
    • shortness of breath,
    • severe coughing,
    • body weakness,
    • loss of muscle control,
    • aggravated diabetes symptoms,
    • bronchitis,
    • emphysema,
    • fungal tuberculous,
    • chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),
    • immunologic disorders,
    • mycobacterial infections,
    • autoimmune diseases,
    • lung cancer,
    • renal diseases,
    • kidney stone formation,
    • subclinical renal changes,
    • paralysis.

Destructive Interactions.

  1. Vitamin B1 Deficiency can be a Side Effect of Silica:
Silica supplement contain Thiaminese enzyme which destroys vitamin B1 in the body and thus leads to vitamin deficiency which is known to be associated with loss of muscle control and also paralysis if not treated well.

  2. There may be Kidney Deterioration:
Taking silicon containing antacids for a long time can result in side effects like kidney stone formation. As per The University of Maryland medical Center, there may be kidney damage and general kidney deterioration with long term use of silica.

  3. Polyuria:
Consuming excess of silica, with plenty of water may cause excessive urination.
Take 8 glasses of water in a day and do not over hydrate and end up losing potassium out of your body

  4. Silica Can Lower Blood Sugar:
Silica can also ... lower your blood sugar levels which can particularly be dangerous, especially if you have diabetes.
If you are diabetic, talk to your doctor before taking silica and know about the safe dosage and form. Make a note, not to use silica if you are pregnant or breastfeeding so as to reduce any potential risks to your baby.

  5. ... silica acts as a diuretic and thus you should not take it if you are taking water pills.
Combining silica with other diuretics may lead to dehydration and seriously low levels of potassium in the body.

  6. Taking silica with chromium supplements or herb containing chromium like brewer's yeast, can increase the risk of chromium poisoning.

Silicon crystalline irritates the skin and eyes on contact.
Inhalation will cause irritation to the lungs and mucus membrane.
Irritation to the eyes will cause watering and redness.
Reddening, scaling, and itching are characteristics of skin inflammation.

Lung cancer is associated with occupational exposures to crystalline silica specifically quartz and cristobalite.
An exposure-response relationship has been reported in studies of miners, diatomaceous earth workers, granite workers, pottery workers, refractory brick workers, and other workers

Several epidemiological studies have reported statistically significant numbers of excess deaths or cases of immunologic disorders and autoimmune diseases in silica-exposed workers. These diseases and disorders include scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and sarcoidosis.

Recent epidemiological studies have reported statistically significant associations of occupational exposure to crystalline silica with renal diseases and subclinical renal changes.

Crystalline silica may affect the immune system, leading to mycobacterial infections (tuberculous and nontuberculous) or fungal, especially in workers with silicosis

Occupational exposure to breathable crystalline silica is associated with bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. Some epidemiologic studies suggest that these health effects may be less frequent or absent in nonsmokers.

Silica is one of the most common hazards on a worksite, particularly in the construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, and agriculture industries. Silica, often referred to as quartz, is a very common mineral. It is found in many materials common on construction and oil & gas sites, including soil, sand, concrete, masonry, rock, granite, and landscaping materials.

Silica dust can cause silicosis, a serious and irreversible lung disease.
These dust particles are very small. You cannot see them. Silica damages the lung and causes scar tissue to form. This causes the lung tissue to become thicker. Silica exposure can also cause lung cancer. Cutting, breaking, crushing, drilling, grinding, or blasting concrete or stone releases the dust. As workers breathe in the dust the silica settles in their lungs.

Silica is the most common hazard on a work site.
Any activity that creates dust can expose workers to airborne silica.
The most common ways to create silica dust are as follows:

Chipping, sawing, grinding, hammering, or drilling
    Crushing, loading, hauling, or dumping
    Building demolition
    Power cutting or dressing stone
    Facade renovation, including tuck-point work
    Abrasive or hydro blasting
Dry sweeping or pressurized air blowing
    Tunneling, excavating, or earth moving

Contrary to previous belief, intake of silicon from food (as opposed to beverages) is substantial.
Daily silicon intake is 10 - 60 mg/day, with about 40% of that actually absorbed.
Foods high in absorbable silicon include raisons, green beans, whole grains and cereal products. Beer is quite high in silicon. Commercially baked products also contain more silicon products than would be expected from the grain alone, as silicon is added as an anti-caking agent and to modify the texture of the dough.

Silicon is an important element for maintaining bone and connective tissue (skin, hair, nails).
Studies of silicon deprivation in growing animals conducted in the early 1970s showed reduced growth and marked defects in bone and connective tissue, although it is not considered to be an essential nutrient, and no RDI has been established for silicon. Adequate silicon intake may help to diminish absorption of aluminum.
There are no know reports of toxicity from ingestion of silicon.

Exposure to high levels of airborne silica particulates occurs in occupation such as quarry workers, miners, foundary workers and sand blasters. If inhaled at high concentrations over prolonged periods, certain forms of silica can cause silicosis (inflammation and scarring resulting in nodular lesions in the upper lobes of the lungs) and are locally carcinogenic. Few data are available on the oral toxicity of silicon in humans and no acute or chronic toxicity data have been identified. It is important to distinguish between inorganic silicon found in food and toxic silicon compounds used in the semicondutor industry.

Note also that the term "silicone" refers to silicon polymers or polysiloxanes, used as sealants, lubricants, gaskets, and formerly as breast implants. The silicone measured in this assay is mostly reflective of dietary intake as opposed to exposure to silicones.

Our scientific concept of the silica cycle is evolving rapidly.
New research during the first decennium of this new millennium has clearly shown that silica mobilisation from terrestrial habitats to the aquatic continuum is biologically controlled. Vegetation takes up dissolved silica (DSi) from soil and ground-water and temporally stores it as amorphous Si (ASi) in biomass. This new concept of biological buffering of the silica cycle is essential. The relative newness and novelty of the concept means there are still major gaps in our fundamental understanding, and the integration of processes at different spatial and temporal scales is lacking. Addressing these knowledge gaps is essential.

The silica cycle is closely connected to the carbon cycle.
Mineral weathering of silicates is an important sink for atmospheric CO2: incomplete knowledge of the bio-Si buffer impedes the accurate quantification of this sink. Moreover, the import of Si into coastal zones from the terrestrial environment is essential to sustain diatom growth.

Diatoms play a key role in the oceanic C-sink and in the eutrophication problems in coastal zones.
Wetlands provide prime circumstances for biological silica accumulators like grasses, sedges and diatoms to flourish. In this context, tropical rivers attract special attention. They transport huge amounts of suspended material of biological origin into coastal zones. Yet, these areas have received virtually no scientific attention regarding silica biogeochemistry. In this proposal, we aim to conduct studies in two tropical systems, which can be considered hot-spots for biological Si cycling: the Okavango Delta (Kenya) and the Fly River (Papua New Guinea). The overall objective of the proposed research is to increase our understanding of the biological Si processing in tropical river systems.

Silica – or silicon, as it’s more commonly known – featured heavily in the human diet up until fifty years ago.
The silicon we ate was a primary compound in the soil from which our fruits and vegetables grew.
This silicon was vital for the strong structural makeup of plant stalks, making for more robust fruits and vegetables.

Silica’s Great Disappearing Act
However, scientists and agriculturalists believed for a long time that silicon was simply a widespread inactive contaminant that provided no real genetic benefits to humans. Somehow along the way, silicon started disappearing from our soil. How this disappearing act began is still a mystery, but researchers assume it’s due to a mineral imbalance after agriculturalists knocked out certain microbe species that dissolved silica into the ground, due to mono farming and the use of pesticides and certain fertilisers.

We are now learning that silicon is indeed a necessary part of healthy soil, healthy plants, and therefore a necessary part of healthy humans. ... Researchers have found that soil should contain at least 100 ppm of monosilicic acid in order for it to provide the health benefits that nature intended. More than 85% of the soils tested for a recent Australian study found sub-optimal soil silicon levels, which is absurd considering silicon is the second most abundant mineral on earth, second only to oxygen.

BOOK REVIEW, by anonymous.

... the ideas have been around since 1799. Vauquelin, a French chemist found that hens excreted in feces and egg more lime than existed in the oats he fed them. In 1822, another French man, Choubard, germinated same watercress seeds in an inert dish (glass) and found that the young plants contained minerals that did not exist in the seeds. In 1844, Vogel found that watercress plants contained more sulfur than was in the seeds when none was added. In 1875, Von Herzeele concluded that there was a transmutation of elements occurring when he grew plants in a well-studied medium (sic), and found discrepancies in the weights of magnesium. In 1960 these studies were published by Baranger, but he was scooped by Louis Kervan, who in 1959 published the results of his years of experiments and announced to the world that not only molecules but atoms themselves can be transformed. Naturally, Kervran was ridiculed but he also received some strong support. Ultimately, scientists from around the world and the governments of Russia and China invited him to come and train their scientists.

... the transmutation of elements.
By which is meant, that elements combine in ways that change their atomic number and become another element entirely which process is biological, uses a minute amount of energy and is reversible- that is, the elements that have combined can go back to their original form. It needs to be said that many scientists do not believe that the elements work this way but Professor Kervran has shown by numerous experiments that when the facts are completely explained and all arguments against are eliminated, or as Sherlock Holmes would say, "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains must be the truth", you find, against all preconceived notions, that elements in biological systems transmute.

While the transmutations of elements in our bodies are endlessly fascinating our focus is on plants.
As early as 1850, Von Herzeele found that germinating seeds without a supply of calcium had an increase of calcium in the young plants analyzed 30 days after they germinated. P.Baranger at l'Ecole Polytechnique de Paris thought that Von Herzeele's experiments were not precise enough and redid them with doubly distilled water as single distillation was not pure enough and obtained the same results. The germinating seeds produced their own calcium. Hens without calcium in their diets can transmute mica which contains some silicate of potassium to calcium in less than a day going from soft shells to hard, complete shells in 20 hours. Potassium can also be created from calcium. That is, Ca – H = K. Calcium and potassium are only one proton away from each other, Ca being 20 and K being 19. With the addition of one H (with one proton) to the Ca we get the K and if we take away one H from the Ca we end up with K again. ... Calcium in lime walls at the seaside exude saltpeter or potassium nitrate which can be scraped off the wall. ....

Calcium can also be made from Si or silicon: Si + C = Ca, or silicon plus carbon equals calcium.
That silica changes into limestone, which is high in calcium, has been known since antiquity.
Horsetail, an herb rich in silica has been used for re-calcification.
It also helps heal tuberculosis by re-calcifying the lung caverns. Spectacular results have been seen in repairing broken bones with the use of organic silica. A chick just hatched has a skeleton of bones made of calcium although there is insufficient calcium in the egg to produce those bones. There is, however, a lot of silica in the membranes that produce the egg. It has never been proved that calcium migrates from the shell to the chick. ...

Leaving a field fallow has been a hallmark of agriculture from the beginning.
People noticed that the fallowed field regained its fertility. A Swiss, Phiffer, author of "Fecondite de la Terre, saw that daisies grow where there is no limestone and when the ashes of these flowering plants are assayed it is found that they are rich in lime. The plants die and enrich the soil, year by year, with lime. No one has determined from whence it comes. Geraniums grown in a sand of pure silica, watered with rain or distilled water with no organic element added produce lime in addition to other elements. The sand used had naturally occurring bacteria, not sterilized sand.

There is a chapter on human medicine in which calcium, silica, potassium and magnesium are discussed which is worth reading in that it explains in a very rudimentary way that elements in the human body do not always act as expected.

Living matter of all kinds has a number of self-evident properties such as evolution, symbiosis and bacterial pleomorphism, sic. (Bacterial pleomorphism has had its definition changed over the last century, check wiki for more info). None of these things has a scientific explanation; we do not have an acceptable theory of evolution. The thing is, we do not have to believe that something works a particular way in order for it to actually work. If one is stuck in the Lavoisier universe where elements don't transmute, and many are, then what is necessary is more sophisticated research, done with an open mind by researchers who aren't going to skew the results to fit a preconceived notion.

Silica present in drinking water may be protective with respect to the decrease of cognitive function as it was suggested by several epidemiologic studies. Data from French cohort have demonstrated that aluminium in drinking water seems to have a deleterious effect and increased the risk of cognitive impairment when the silica concentrations were low.

Moreover, it has been shown that the performances to a cognitive test were positively correlated to the consumption of silica and that the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) was reduced in subjects who had the higher daily silica intake compared to the others. The silica is probably the natural antidote of the aluminium and could play a benefit role by decreasing the biodisponibility of aluminium, whose neurotoxicity is now clearly established.

Data have suggested the possible use of silicates as a therapeutic agent for AD since both model tangles and precipitated beta-pleated sheets of betaA4 can be reversed to soluble forms by silicates. The role of silica in drinking water on cognitive function has been however little studied and clear results have not yet emerged. The potential benefit of silica needs to be confirmed in additional investigations to exclude causes of error related to certain methodological biases. If such an association does indeed exist, interventional strategies could be set up to reduce the incidence of AD. The aim of this paper is to review articles published on silica present in drinking water in relation with AD and associated disorders.

Asbestos has been a deadly word in various industries since 1929, when the first lawsuit was filed.
This natural silicate material is responsible for more than 11,000 deaths each year, as nearly 1.3 million Americans go to a workplace in which they exposed each day. Now, respirable crystalline silica, which is the second most abundant mineral on Earth, is quickly gaining a similar reputation as about 2.3 million workers are exposed to it annually.

Silica, like asbestos, is dangerous when inhaled.
Both of these exposures occur when workers cut, grind, crush, or drill materials containing the dangerous substances creating very small dust particles. Invisible to the eye, workers can become unknowingly exposed until severe health issues occur months, or even years later.

With OSHA’s new silica rule in effect for construction, and soon for maritime, general industry, and hydraulic fracturing, the general public is becoming more aware of the connection between silica exposure and lung diseases, much like it did in the late 1970s with asbestos. As silica, which is quite literally everywhere, climbs to the top of many employers’ agendas, it might be fair to consider it as the modern-era asbestos.

Words like Mesothelioma and asbestosis are synonymous with asbestos.
Billions of dollars have been awarded in mesothelioma cases in the past four decades and more than 100 companies have filed for bankruptcy. When it comes to silica, we’re becoming familiar with the terms silicosis and COPD. Both diseases, like mesothelioma and asbestos, cause severe and often lethal lung damage.

Silicosis is brought upon by inhaling even trace amounts of silica particles.
Over time, these silica particles scar the lung tissue, leading to difficulty breathing.
Asbestosis has an eerily similar effect, as they are both forms of lung fibrosis. ...

OSHA estimates that between 1,000 and 1,500 people die each year due to silica exposure.
Already, there has been an abundance of silica-related lawsuits and deaths.
In 2009, a former sandblaster was awarded $7.9 million against his employer in Mississippi after contracting silicosis.

For years, companies looked for ways to hide the dangers of asbestos because of its prevalence throughout industry. Those decisions inevitably came back to haunt them mightily. In recent months, all too many employers have been looking for ways around silica testing and employee education requirements. Therefore, it’s highly conceivable that silicosis lawsuits will run parallel with those brought about by mesothelioma. If you think silica testing is too expensive to be worthwhile, then you might want to rethink your stance and use asbestos as a reference.

Mesothelioma. LINK
Mesothelioma is a cancer found in the lining surrounding the lungs, the stomach, the heart or the testicles.
This cancer takes its name from the name that is given to this lining - the mesothelium.
The pleura is the name for the mesothelial tissue surrounding the lungs and lining the chest cavity.
If the cancer is in this lining, it is called "pleural mesothelioma." Pleural mesothelioma is the most common type of mesothelioma.

The peritoneum is the lining that covers most of the organs in the abdominal cavity, while the pericardium is the lining that covers and protects the heart. If the cancer is in either of these areas, it is called "peritoneal mesothelioma" or "pericardial mesothelioma."

Like other forms of cancer, mesothelioma occurs when cells become abnormal and divide or grow out of control. When someone has mesothelioma, the lubricating fluid in the lining may be over-produced. This excess fluid encases the organs with a thick layer of tumor tissue, described as a rind type of layer, that puts pressure on the organs. People with pleural mesothelioma often complain of shortness of breath and a buildup of fluid in the chest area. In advanced cases of mesothelioma, cells metastasize, or grow and invade other organs and spread to other areas of the body.

Care: Research-to-date shortcomings & findings. Critical Index

Interstitial pulmonary fibrosis caused by the inhalation of asbestos fibers or silica particles continues to be an important cause of interstitial lung disease. Although more stringent control of asbestos in the workplace and decreasing industrial use has contributed to declines in the prevalence of asbestosis in the United States, new cases continue to be identified. Similarly, silicosis is seen among sandblasters, underground miners, foundry and quarry workers, and in other dust-exposed trades. Both diseases, which may have relatively long latency periods, are observed in the clinic today, usually as a result of high occupational exposures in the past, and they are problematic in that treatment with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, the usual approaches to therapy for fibrotic lung disease, is ineffective.

Asbestos and silica are complex, naturally occurring minerals that are chemically and physically distinct.
Moreover, the pathology of asbestosis and silcosis is dissimilar. However, the pathogenesis of these lesions and the major changes in pulmonary architecture, namely, the laying down of collagen in an interstitial location, appear to be similar to many of the features seen in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Like IPF and representative animal models of IPF such as bleomycin instillation, both asbestosis and silicosis are characterized by a persistent inflammatory response and generation of proinflammatory and profibrotic mediators.

Although asbestosis and silicosis have been studied intensely by basic and clinical research scientists, little is known about the crucial cellular mechanisms that initiate and drive the processes of inflammation and fibrogenesis. ...

  1. Care: Clinical and Pathological Features .... Critical Index

... asbestosis does not appear until a threshold exposure level has been reached, and that the lower the exposure, the longer it takes to reach this threshold in workplace settings. ... The same comments apply to the effects of silica.

An additional factor that plays a role in the pathogenesis of asbestosis in humans is cigarette smoke.
... smoking increases the attack and/or the progression rate ....

    Silicosis
Silicosis is disease produced by inhalation of one of the forms of crystalline silica, most commonly quartz ... varieties of silicosis, including simple (nodular) silicosis, acute silicosis (silicoproteinosis), complicated pneumoconiosis (progressive massive fibrosis), and true diffuse interstitial fibrosis. ...

Simple silicosis is usually diagnosed by a combination of a suitable exposure history, for example, sandblasting, quarrying, stone dressing, refractory manufacture, or foundry work, and the finding of fine nodules on plain chest film or CT scan. Disease tends to be upper zonal, but the lower zones may be involved in severe cases. By definition the nodules of simple silicosis are no greater than 1 cm in maximum diameter; larger nodules are classified as complicated pneumoconiosis.

Many patients with simple silicosis are asymptomatic.
Cough may be present, possibly reflecting irritation of tracheal and bronchial nerves by silicotic nodules.
Shortness of breath is not common. In many patients with simple silicosis, pulmonary function is normal or shows only a minor decrease in vital capacity; however, there is increasing evidence that silica exposure can be associated with changes of chronic airflow obstruction.

... simple silicosis shows discrete nodules that are extremely hard and vary in color from grey to blue to green if the exposure is to relatively pure silica, but they may be black (when silicosis develops in a coal miner) or red (when silicosis develops in a hematite miner). ... Examination with polarized light usually reveals birefringent particles, most of which, contrary to the usual description in textbooks, are silicates rather than silica; ....

... the latency period for simple silicosis is inversely proportional to exposure levels and is generally quite long. Extremely high levels of silica exposure can result in the rapid appearance of silicoproteinosis or accelerated silicosis. ... the development of silicosis is influenced by dose and type of silica, but apparently not by smoking. Moreover, coexposure to other dusts has no apparent effect on the incidence of asbestosis but tends to markedly decrease the incidence of silicosis.

  2. Care: Chemical & Physical Properties (involved in disease risk) ... Critical Index

... Like asbestos, silica is a group of naturally occurring minerals, but these exist both in noncrystalline (amorphous) and crystalline forms. Dusts composed of amorphous silicas have not been implicated in human disease and will not be considered further in this review. The seven recognized crystalline silicas, comprising silicon and oxygen (SiO2) with trace amounts of Al, Fe, Mn, Mg, Ca, and Na in their structures, include quartz, cristobalite, moganite, tridymite, melanphlogite, coesite, and stishovite. Rocks such as granite, shale, and sandstones contain as much as 67% quartz, the most common crystalline silica; thus, mining, blasting, and construction activities may result in significant exposures. Cristobalite is encountered in the ceramic, refractory, and diatomaceous earth industries where processing of the crude materials involves heating to high temperatures. ...

Mineral surfaces are dynamic and complex and may be modified in the lung after adsorption of proteins and other macromolecules or uptake by cells. Elements such as magnesium ... or iron ... may be leached or mobilized intracellularly or extracellularly, thus mediating the toxicity of these fibers through surface charge or redox reactions.... Magnesium initially is leached from chrysotile fibers, thus changing their surface charge from positive to negative and reducing their toxic potential. ...

Surface chemistry may also govern the pathogencity of silica dusts.
Freshly fractured silica, generated during abrasive blasting, is more toxic to alveolar macrophages (AMs) than aged silica, presumably because of its increased redox potential, as its fresh surface is highly reactive with hydrogen, oxygen, carbon, and sometimes nitrogen. Crushing silica yields Si· and SiO· radicals on the cleavage planes of this mineral that also react with water to produce the damaging hydroxyl radical (·OH) (40). ...

... the tendency of other minerals, particularly clay components, to adhere to and even chemically integrate with the surface of silica particles. ... silicosis is relatively common and often quite severe in workers who are exposed to freshly fractured silica surfaces, for example, sandblasters. ....

  3. Care: The Relationship of Particle Burden to Disease ... Critical Index

    ...

    Silicosis
A number of studies have investigated the relationship of pulmonary silica burden and silicosis.
This issue is complicated by a variety of factors, including type of silica particle involved and coexposures to other types of minerals.

... When there is exposure to relatively pure silica, as in gold miners or foundry workers, then total retained silica loads of 1 to 3 g are sufficient to produce silicosis. On the other hand, when there is concomitant exposure to another (relatively nonfibrogenic) dust such as is seen in coal miners or hematite miners, then the same weight of silica produces very little silicosis. This phenomenon presumably reflects the adsorption of other dusts or their constituents onto the silica surface with consequent decreases in silica toxicity, and has important implications for the prevention of silicosis.

... different mineralogic types of silica have different pathogenic potential, although the exact relationship between fibrosis and exposure to particular silica polymorphs is somewhat confused. ... Unfortunately, there does not appear to be human data that would allow one to compare the potencies of these silica polymorphs.

The relationship between silica particle size and disease is also unsettled.
... virtually no information exists about the relationship of different types or sizes of silica particles to the cellular and molecular events ...

  4. Care: Cellular & Molecular Mechanisms of Disease. Critical Index

... lower intensity exposures to either asbestos or silica evoke reversible inflammatory lesions characterized by focal aggregations of mineral-laden alveolar macrophages (AMs) and maintenance of the normal architecture of the lung, higher exposures elicit intense and protracted inflammatory changes, cell proliferation in various compartments of the lung, and excessive deposition of collagen and other extracellular matrix components by mesenchymal cells. ... Recent studies suggest ....

It has been known for several years that the surface iron(II) or leachable iron(II) on mineral surfaces reduces molecular oxygen to superoxide anion, which then dismutates to hydrogen peroxide. In the presence of asbestos or silica, hydrogen peroxide and superoxide react via a Fenton-like reaction driven by iron to form the potent hydroxyl radical in vitro. ...

Superoxide can also react rapidly with nitric oxide to form peroxynitrite, an agent that oxidizes and nitrates macromolecules. ...
Asbestos and silica cause increased steady-state mRNA levels of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in alveolar macrophages (AMs) in vitro and in lung homogenates after intratracheal injection of particles, respectively, suggesting that this enzyme is induced in AMs and possibly other cell types in lung after exposure to fibrogenic dusts.

... Elegant work has established by immunohistochemistry that isoforms of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-ß) are increased at sites of developing asbestotic lesions and in silica-induced granulomas. This growth factor ... is a potent chemoattractant for monocytes and neutrophils and upregulates genes involved in collagen and fibronectin biosynthesis. Paradoxically, it can act as an inhibitor of inflammation and epithelial cell proliferation, but its production by alveolar macrophages (AMs) and alveolar epithelial cells may serve as a mitogenic stimulus for fibroblasts.

Inflammatory mediators such as TNF ... Silica also directly increases TNF gene transcription and production in macrophagelike cells in part by upregulating the TNF promoter.

A novel group of proinflammatory cytokines known as chemokines, which includes IL-8, macrophage inflammatory protein 2 (MIP-2), macrophage inflammatory protein 1a and ß, and monocyte chemoattractant proteins 1, 2, and 3 (MCP-1,2,3) has been implicated as key contributors to the inflammatory response in bleomycin-induced fibrosis, asbestosis, and silicosis. These chemokines can be produced by a variety of cell types, including immune and nonimmune cells and exhibit chemotactic activity for cells such as neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and eosinophils. ... these chemokines are intrinisic to inflammation. ... pulmonary epithelial cells are mediators as well as targets of inflammation.

... mast cells are essential for the development of silica-induced pulmonary inflammation, ... communication via elaboration of chemokines or cytokines by these cell types and their interactions with epithelial cells and fibroblasts may govern the eventual outcomes of cell injury and proliferation in response to pathogenic minerals.

  5. Care: Approaches to Prevention & Treatment of Fibrosis. Critical Index

... little advancement has occurred in effective therapeutic strategies for patients.
As emphasized in a NIH workshop report, IPF, silicosis, and asbestosis have traditionally been treated with corticosteroids or immunosuppressants, with discouraging results in terms of both morbidity and mortality. ... novel approaches for prevention and treatment of mineral-induced inflammation and fibrosis. Recent work has focused, using animal models of disease, on:

    (1) administration of antioxidants or iron chelators,
    (2) inhibition of TNF and IL-1 production or receptor interactions,
    (3) inhibition of phospholipases, and
    (4) modification of mineral surface properties.

... Continuous administration of an interleukin receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) also results in both prevention and reduction of fibrosis in these models when given after fibrosis has developed. The natural diterpene compound, acanthoic acid, which reduces both TNF and IL-1 production from AMs as well as oxidant production, suppresses both granuloma formation and fibrosis after instillation of silica, providing further evidence that anti-inflammatory compounds that inhibit both TNF and oxidant production may be potentially antifibrotic in patients. ...

Additional strategies have been used to modify the surface properties and inflammatory potential of silica.
For example, pretreatment with aluminum lactate has been successful in inhibiting quartz-induced increases in neutrophils and release of proteolytic enzymes from AMs in BAL, and some investigators report amelioration of toxicity and increased mobilization of quartz from the lungs in experimental animals treated with aluminum. However, others have found that the protective effects of aluminum are only temporary. Metallic aluminum and alumina have been used as preventive agents in humans exposed to silica dust and appear to reduce the incidence of new cases of silicosis, but they do not have any effect on established lesions.

Polyvinylpyridine-N-oxide (PVPNO) is thought to detoxify silica by shielding SiOH groups on the mineral surface, and when used alone or in combination with tetrandine, an herbal drug used to treat pulmonary fibrosis in patients, causes both inhibition of collagen mRNA levels and its degradation in lung. ...

  6. Care: Summary & Conclusions. Critical Index

... the lung is able to deal with a considerable number of fibers and particles without detectable molecular or pathogenic events or the development of fibrosis. ...

Despite the different histologic presentations of asbestosis and silicosis, several commonalities exist in the development of these diseases. Both minerals stimulate production of oxidants, chemokines, and cytokines from a number of cell types. Several of these factors may act alone or in concert to cause chemotaxis, cell injury, proliferation, and synthesis of collagen. Mechanistic studies suggest that multiple cell types and signaling events are involved in the pathogenesis of asbestosis and silicosis. Moreover, individual cell types may have several roles in the disease process. For example, the alveolar type II epithelial cell, regarded historically as a key target cell in initial injury by inhaled particles, now appears to be important in both defense from lung damage as well as elaboration of chemokines and cytokines. ...

The limitations of our current understanding must be stressed.
Both Table 5 and Figure 3, taken at face value, would lead to the conclusion that asbestosis and silicosis are identical diseases. That they are not indicates the need to refine our understanding of the role of oxidants, chemokines, and cytokines. ...

One last issue, which is not addressed in this review but is extremely important in clinical disease, is the relationship between mineral-dust-induced fibrosis and lung cancer. Diffuse pulmonary fibrosis of any cause appears to be a precursor of carcinoma, and this phenomenon is well described in patients with IPF or diffuse interstitial fibrosis associated with collagen vascular disease. In both humans and experimental animals, there is a strong association between the presence of asbestosis and an increased risk of lung cancer. ... In rats, crystalline silica is clearly a lung carcinogen and tumors again arise in close spacial relationship to silicotic nodules, ... the importance of avoiding or decreasing dust-induced fibrotic reactions is quite clear.

Drug delivery systems (DDSs) control when and how much drugs are delivered to the body. ...

The existing treatment for malaria is taken orally and has three main problems:

(1) most antimalarial drugs are broken down in the stomach,
(2) the drugs have strong side effects, and
(3) the medicine stays in the body for only a short time.
These issues resulted in malaria treatments that were not particularly effective.

MCM-41 is a porous silica material with a pore size of 2-30 nm.
It can incorporate drugs into its pores, which makes it a useful material for DDS applications.
A research group headed by Prof. Shinya Hayami from Kumamoto University, Japan believed that MCM-41 could be used as DDS for antimalarial drugs. To test their theory, they created a new DDS by combining the antimalarial drugs Artesunate and Quinine with MCT-41 and performed in vitro and in vivo experiments. They found:

(1) The release time of the antimalarial medicine became very long, one week or longer, which was an improvement from the standard medication time.

(2) Compared to ingesting Artesunate or Quinine, the new DDS increased treatment efficiency by 20 and 240 times respectively in animal experiments. (As defined in this study, the therapeutic efficiency is 50% of the effective dose (ED50), and is used as an index of drug strength. The smaller the value of ED50, the greater the action of the drug. In other words, if an effect is obtained with a small amount of a drug, the treatment efficiency is high.)

(3) MCM-41 itself is non-toxic and inactive.
A DDS using MCM-41 is expected to have very weak side effects.

"Using this DDS for antimalarial drugs has introduced a new possibility for highly efficient malaria treatment for the first time," said Professor Shinya Hayami. "We expect that it will be put to practical use in areas where malaria treatment is still necessary. Now, we are planning to develop clinical trials for antimalarial drugs as well as new DDSs for other drugs, like anti-HIV medications."

Silica is a naturally occurring ingredient found in the human body, as an important component in cell walls in diatoms and blood vessels. It also occurs throughout the earth’s crust, in sand, and is the same material that composes crystal quartz.

Silica is a naturally occurring ingredient found in the human body, as an important component in cell walls in diatoms and blood vessels. It also occurs throughout the earth’s crust, in sand, and is the same material that composes crystal quartz. It is also commonly found throughout the ocean and in shellfish.

In food, it is found in fish, citrus fruits, milk, wheat, almonds, and many vegetables, such as soybeans.
Silica is unique among supplements because it can be taken both for beauty and health benefits, improving the bodies functions on both the inside and the outside. It is an important supplement to help optimize function in many of the body’s systems, such as stimulating the digestive tract. It is an essential ingredient in hair, nails, teeth, connective tissues, and healthy bones. Silica is not the same thing as silicone.

Silicone Vs. Silica
Silicone contains silica, but it is combined with oxygen and other chemicals in its medical grade form.
While silica has many other industrial uses in different forms, as a pure, micronized supplement, it is completely safe for human consumption, easily digestible, and in fact has many anti-aging and health benefits.

In supplement form, silica is micronized so that it may be more fully utilized by the body and properly digested.
Silica also helps other minerals be properly absorbed, so it is an important component of any type of diet. For persons with fractures, dental problems, or hair loss, it is an important supplement for healing.

It can also help reverse or slow down the aging process by improving the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and other common skin problems. One study found that drinking silica in water led to a statistically significant decreases in risk for dementia. Collagen, largely made up of silica, is an extremely important substance in the body, particularly in joints, and beneath the skin. For physical regeneration, silica is an extremely beneficial ingredient for health. More benefits of silica are being discovered, such at its ability to help heal wounds and burns, as research on this powerful substance continues.

Adolf Butenant, a Nobel prize-winning chemist proved that human survival is not possible without silica and later did extensive research on the substance at Columbia University. As a supplement, silica is odorless and tasteless and blends with other ingredients easily. Further, it is impossible to overdose on (nutritional) silica, as the body takes care of any excess naturally.

It can assist in absorption of other types of nutrients and thus increase the benefits of a wholesome diet and decrease the side effects of nutrient-depleting substances such as alcohol. Silica helps the body cleanse itself naturally. Although high levels of silica are present in the body natural naturally, it is highly beneficial to consume it in supplement form. As a supplement, silica can be more easily digested than it could be otherwise -- otherwise it would simply pass through the body, with stimulation effects in digestion.

Article: How to Detox Your Body of Silica. INDEX
Silica to detox the body from heavy metal poisoning.
http://www.silicabenefits.com/

Silica for aluminum detoxification
... By improving the structure of all connective tissues in the human body, including cartilages, tendons and blood vessels’ walls, silica helps diminish joint pain and impedes the blood vessels to clog. Furthermore, silica is the main bone tissue builder, since calcium would be practically useless without it; calcium without silica starts calcifying other tissues such as artery walls and even heart. Therefore, a healthy bone structure and a strong cardiovascular system would not be possible without the mineral silica.

Getting rid of heavy metals with silica
Aluminum is one of the most fatal heavy metal for our brain and nervous system.
This is the heavy metal, which together with brain tissue calcification, causes one of the most terrible diseases a human being could go through: Alzheimer’s disease. All the scientific studies and all the scientists admit that silica is the most effective detoxifying agent for aluminum and heavy metal poisoning in the body. Even more, silica has been discovered to amazingly work against another disease very similar to Alzheimer’s, and that’s dementia.

Aluminum and Silica.
When a person uses silica supplements to detox, the Aluminum and the other heavy metals present in the body are passed in the urine and eliminated with it. There is no such thing as silica intoxication, ... as long as .your body keeps up normal levels of B1 vitamin and potassium, and the water intake is adequate.

In our (commercial & population dense) environment, Aluminum is present everywhere: foil, second hand smoking, seafood, cosmetics, beverage bottles etc. In conclusion, there is nothing we (choose to) do to avoid aluminum and heavy metals intoxication, but (we can) take advantage from the natural gift silica has to offer us and protect ourselves as much as we can.

The tissues that have a low fighting response such as bone tissue, heart and brain tissue are the ones more vulnerable to aluminum and heavy metals. The aluminum builds up in these tissues, especially in the nervous system and triggers diseases such as MS, Parkinson’s or auto-immunes.

The early 20th Century was called by Dr. Chris Exley, PhD the “Age of Aluminum” because since then the aluminum hasn’t been excavated from the ground. Dr. Chris Exley, PhD has dedicated his entire profession to studying the aluminum toxicity. He made many correspondences between the mining of aluminum and the outstanding increase in neurological diseases among us.

The solutions he offered were expensive mineral waters extremely rich in silica since amazing results were shown in people having increased quantities of aluminum in their bodies. However, there are other sources of natural silica around us. For example, horsetail is one of the richest silica sources, and also very accessible since it can be obtained free. ...

      Protocol Index

    • -Intro :
    • Step 1: Remove external and internal sources of toxic exposure.
    • Step 2: Mobilize sequestered heavy metals out your cells and into your blood.
    • Step 3: Chelate (bind up) these mobilized heavy metals in your bloodstream.
    • Step 4: Re-mineralize the blood.
    • Step 5: Support the effected purifying organs -Thyroid, Liver, and Kidneys.

Intro. Protocol Index

Today, probably more than any time in the history of man we are exposed to an incredible plethora of toxic elements.
Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and aluminum, are in our food, water, atmosphere, vaccines, and especially our dental fillings. Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, antibiotics, and hormones are in most of the food we eat, unless you eat organic.

Processed foods are full of preservatives and other chemicals.
Finally, many of the containers we routinely use are full of chemicals that can leach into the foodstuffs they are designed to hold. All in all, regardless of how things appear, we live in a toxic environment.

Step 1: Remove external and internal sources of toxic exposure. Protocol Index

Making lifestyle changes is the first step and can reduce one’s exposure to toxic compounds dramatically, though these changes do little to rid the body of already accumulated toxic elements. In this case I am referring primarily to the heavy metals mercury, lead, aluminum, and cadmium. In my opinion, it is the mercury that is the major culprit for many of today’s unanswered health issues.

Let me create a scenario that I believe many of us fall into today. Over the first 30 years of your life, you dutifully received all of your vaccinations, and followed your dentist’s recommendations when you had a cavity filled and allowed him to put in mercury amalgam “silver” fillings in the hole he made when he drilled out the decay. It could have been fairly soon thereafter, or in some cases many years later that you began to experience unusual symptoms. This could have included a slow thyroid and therefore unusual fatigue and sensitivity to cold, hair loss, dry skin, tenderness and numbness of extremities, unusual rashes, diminished vision, weak connective tissue, swollen tissues, and short-term memory loss. Due to the uniqueness of each person, one may not react at all or experience one or more of these symptoms.

You had a battery of tests and they all came back normal.
You were told everything was normal and there was nothing wrong with you and it was all in your mind.
They were right about that in an abstract way because the mercury that is affecting your mind, as well as major glands in your body, is in actuality a deadly neurotoxin that can affect the entire nervous system.

In this case you have accumulated toxic levels of the heavy metal mercury.
Mercury is the second deadliest element on the planet after plutonium.
Most of us today are walking around with mercury in our mouth, slowly vaporizing via the process of electrolysis, and leaching into our cells.

Additionally, our children are given vaccinations we never heard of right out of the womb, far before their livers have had a chance to develop to the point where they could deal with such a mainlined mercury load. Most vaccines are preserved with a mercury based compound called thimerosal. In many cases, it is similar or worse than having a mouthful of mercury fillings.

Now that you know the primary sources of mercury, you may want to stop any future exposure for both you and your children. Go to the website www.amalgam.org and www.flcv.com/dams.html for information on how to deal with mercury/silver fillings and how to find someone competent to remove amalgams. Also, avoid vaccinations as much as possible and certainly not before the age of 6.

What actually occurs is that when the body senses the presence of the heavy metal, it utilizes iodine and selenium to bind and remove them. Most people do not have adequate levels of iodine or selenium to deal with the heavy metal, so the body pulls the metals out of the blood and stores them in available cells where they begin to impede normal cellular functioning.

The question now is how do you get the mercury and other heavy metals you have accumulated over your lifetime out of your tissues? First, it is important to understand that the body must be able to properly eliminate the heavy metals that will be flushed out of your cells. The below steps describe the process, but you must have an adequate functioning, and healthy colon. I suggest that everyone facing a heavy metal challenge take enzymes for digestion, probiotics to keep good flora active and abundant, and have a good bowel cleanser to assist the elimination process.

Step 2: Mobilize sequestered heavy metals out your cells and into your blood. Protocol Index

The most effective way to mobilize the heavy metals from the body’s cells is to use a special two-phase approach that includes a combination of:

    Iodine
    Selenium
    Zinc
    Silica
    Sulfur
    Lithium, and
    A pinch of sea salt

These elements are all effective at stimulating our cells to release sequestered heavy metals.

A good dose is 15 drops in the concentrated form of each of the above listed elements taken together with at least 8 ounces of water once a day to start. These minerals in their concentrated form are available from Eidon Inc. After 15 minutes, move onto phase two, which will now chelate the mobilized heavy metals.

Step 3: Chelate (bind up) these mobilized heavy metals in your bloodstream. Protocol Index

10 to 15 minutes after taking the minerals, you will want to take a proven chelator such as EDTA.
Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), DMPS and DMSA are also used for chelation, but EDTA seems to be the easiest on the system while still being effective.

There are numerous EDTA supplements on the market.
This phase of the cleansing process is literally binding up all the minerals in one’s blood stream and carrying them to the liver and kidneys for excretion. The time frame involved in this process is variable but I feel it encompasses approximately 1 to 2 hours.

A secondary benefit of taking silica and EDTA is the removal of calcium build-up in the arteries.
(Calcium plaque has now been identified as a primary causative factor in blocked arteries.
Indeed, I believe it is the mismanagement of calcium that is a primary cause of arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis.)

Step 4: Re-mineralize the blood. Protocol Index

The mineral binding capability of EDTA is quite effective and can remove beneficial as well as toxic elements.

Consequently, it is important to replenish the mineral content of the bloodstream with a well-blended liquid mineral supplement. This is why we recommend an adequate dietary intake of a multiple mineral supplement approximately 2 hours after the EDTA. By then, the heavy metal binding has taken place and the kidneys and liver are hard at work removing the released metals as well as other essential minerals.

This step replenishes the bloodstream quickly making it easy on the body to maintain proper blood mineral homeostasis.

Step 5: Support the effected purifying organs -Thyroid, Liver, and Kidneys. Protocol Index

Recommended in the Eidon heavy metal cleasing program are support supplements for all three of these organs.

Thyroid glandular
— provides you with T3 and T4 hormones to maintain adequate levels of cellular energy during the cleansing process.
Do this only if your thyroid is operating at sub-optimal levels.

Milk thistle tincture
— provides you with herbal liver support, so that you do not overstress this essential detoxification organ as it does its magic to neutralize the heavy metals mobilized by the minerals and captured by the EDTA.

Dandelion tincture
— supports the kidneys, as they are stressed during this process.

These supplements should always be taken either before or after commencing this protocol.
They can be taken all at once but either 1 hour before or at least 2 hours after the EDTA.
It doesn’t matter when, just that it is accomplished.

This protocol should be done away from food.
Do it at least 2 hours after you have eaten a meal or time it to finish 1 hour before a meal.
Get in tune with how you feel and don’t push it. Use your intuition and sensitivity in determining whether you do more than 1 cleansing per day. Also give your body a break from time to time. This protocol can sometimes make you feel worse. When this happens, just slow the process down. Sometimes I can handle it and sometimes I can’t. Doing it at midday is best in my opinion.

Heavy metal cleansing can be quite difficult to accomplish.
It can take a long time and if not done slowly, it can be uncomfortable.
The important thing to remember is that it can be done and the end result can be an incredible feeling of health that you may or may not have ever experienced.

    • helps your body generate its own collagen
    • supports hair, skin, and nail growth
    • for stronger, thicker, and healthier hair, stronger nails
    • for stronger nails
    • fewer fine lines and wrinkles in the skin

BioSil 'turns on' the body's actual collagen-generating cells, known as fibroblasts.
Because BioSil works through your body's natural pathways, the collagen it generates has your own DNA fingerprint.
BioSil has been tested in rigorous double-blind placebo controlled trials which have consistently shown its safety and effectiveness for collagen regeneration and improved appearance of skin, hair and nails.

For years, scientists searched for a method that would give the human body the ability to regenerate its own collagen.
But it took the discovery of BioSil's patented choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid (ch-OSA®), the active ingredient in BioSil, to make genuine collagen regeneration a reality.

Take one (1) capsule daily, preferably on an empty stomach ..
Serving Size: 1 capsule

Tender, sensitive joints can limit everyday activities.
As you age and continue to put stress on your joints, you can compromise joint cartilage, which exposes small collagen fibers.
Your body's immune system mistakenly identifies these collagen fibers as "foreign cells." This triggers an inflammatory response against the collagen-containing cartilage in your own joints. Inflammation and joint discomfort can soon follow.

Bio-Collagen with Patented UC-II is a novel form of undenatured Type II collagen from chicken cartilage, shown to provide targeted support for the immune issues related to joint discomfort. Taken orally, UC-II travels to the intestinal tract where it introduces the immune system to the same type of collagen molecules found in joint cartilage.

Normally, when chicken collagen is processed, its molecular shape is changed.
It loses bioactivity and becomes denatured, which researchers found has no beneficial effect on the immune system. Fortunately, a unique processing technique preserves the correct molecular shape of the collagen — and preserves its bioactivity — producing a form known as undenatured collagen.

Scientific studies have found that UC-II reduced sensitive joint discomfort and eased joint function.
One double-blind, placebo-controlled study on patients found that UC-II provided relief by 33%, and decreased joint discomfort scores by a remarkable 40% — in just 90 days.

SILALIVE Silica Supplement is a powerful and effective All-Natural Proprietary Complex Blend of Pure Human-Grade Diatomaceous Earth Powder & Organic Silica for Fast Acting Results. Silalive is 100% Non-Toxic and Safe for Long Term daily use!

Silalive is considered to be the first Neobiogenic Silica Health Complex that contains two natural forms of silica known as diatomaceous earth and orthosilic acid. Deficiencies of silica may lead to many health problems such as accelerated aging, and degradation in bones, joints, cartilage, and collagen. ...

Ingredients:

99.5% --- Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is an insoluble form of silica that comes from the prehistoric exoskeletons of creatures called diatoms. You can find it in abundance in places that water once used to exist. If you look at this type of silica under a microscope, you will notice that these exoskeleton shells are very sharp. Because of this characteristic, diatomaceous earth has been used as a natural insecticide that essentially cuts up the insect’s exoskeleton, causing them to die. This type of silica benefits humans because the shards of silica are used to treat internal parasites in the body. Though eating sharp microscopic shards of shells sounds dangerous, you can rest assured that it is non-toxic and safe. Because of its microscopic size, it is small enough that it will not harm your body. It will actually help your body by acting as a abrasive material that scrubs the walls of the intestines and kill parasites that exist in your body. As the diatomaceous earth passes through the digestive tract, it absorbs pathogens such as heavy metals, chemicals, pesticides, viruses, protozoa, bacteria and fungi.

Orthosilic acid, also known as OSA, is a soluble form of silica that is needed by the body to promote transportation of minerals and increase absorption in the body. Orthosilic acid helps to improve bone density by carrying calcium into the bones. Without enough silica in the body, our bones will weaken and be more susceptible to fractures and osteoporosis. OSA also contributes to the formation and flexibility of all connective tissue in the body

... diatomaceous earth and orthosilic acid ... supplying your body with enough silica to increase bone density and strength, stave off osteoporosis, speed up the healing time of bones, reduce scars at bone fracture sites, and also hydrate spinal discs that are causing back pain. When Silalive is taken in combination with calcium, you will no longer have brittle nails, unhealthy hair, and weak bones. Studies have also found that silica can stop tissue degradation that usually leads to loose, dry, damaged skin, and promote firmer skin. ...

Promotes healthy hair, skin and nails.
Ideal for dry hair & skin, brittle nails and aging skin.
Helps increase flexibility and elasticity in skin and bone matrix.
May offer protection against osteoporosis.

Silica forms structural components of bone and connective tissue, such as collagen.
It is especially needed during the early phase of bone mineralization and is found in high concentrations in the bony growth plates. It also forms elastin, a connective tissue that is responsible for the elasticity of connective tissue found in the skin, lungs and blood vessels. Silica levels decline with age and a deficiency of silica may lead to degeneration of the vessels, bones and connective tissue that is commonly seen in the elderly.

Horsetail was traditionally used as a diuretic in spring tonics. Spring tonic herbal combinations provide a gentle cleanse of the body as it changes from the winter mode of storage and hibernation to the vital and energetic warm seasons. Horsetail also contains a significant amount of silica, which is considered an essential trace mineral for human health. Horsetail is commonly recommended by natural health care practitioners for support of bone and connective tissue, osteoporosis, poor growth of hair, skin and nails and swelling.

In the past 25 years, medical and health "experts" have cautioned or directed me, more than 14 times, that I had little time left to live, or would die ... because THEY did not understand my challenges, were not motivated to professionally diagnose, or, chose to superstitiously recall as absolute previously flawed training. I am still alive beyond age 70. With the assistance of God, my Personality, the research and a lack of dismissiveness of a number of persons ... I have found resolution to numerous health challenges. This has enabled me to assist many others who had been abandoned, brainwashed, or traumatized. May my experience and successes also empower you.
