Chemical element, metallic, symbol Mg, situated in group IIa in the periodic table, atomic number: 12, atomic weight: 24,312.

Magnesium is silvery white and very light.
Its relative density is 1,74 and it’s density 1740 kg/m3 (0.063 lb/in3 or 108.6 lb/ft3).
Magnesium is known for a long time as the lighter structural metal in the industry, due to it’s low weight and to it’s capability of forming mechanically resistant alloys.

Magnesium is very chemically active, it takes the place of hydrogen in boiling water and a great number of metals can be produced by thermic reduction of its salts and oxidized forms with magnesium.

It joins together with most non-metals and almost every acid.
Magnesium reacts only slightly or not at all with most of the alkalis and many organic substances, like hydrocarbons, aldehides, alcohols, phenols, amines, esters and most of the oils.

Used as a catalyst, magnesium promotes organic reactions of condensation, reduction, addition and dehalogenization. It was used for a long time for synthesizing special and complex organic components by the well-known Grignard reaction. The main ingredients of the alloys are: aluminum, manganese, zircon, zinc, rare-earth metals and thorium.

Applications
Magnesium compounds are used as refractory material in furnace linings for producing metals (iron and steel, nonferrous metals), glass, and cement.

With a density of only two thirds of the aluminum’s, it has countless applications in cases where weight reducing is important, i.e. in aeroplane and missile construction. It also has many useful chemical and metallurgic properties, which make it appropriate for many other non-structural applications.

Magnesium components are widely used in industry and agriculture.
Other uses include: removal of sulphur form iron and steel, photoengraved plates in the printing industry; reducing agent for the production of pure uranium and other metals from their salts; flashlight photography, flares, and pyrotechnics.

Magnesium in the environment
Magnesium is the eighth most abundant element and constitutes about 2% of the Earth's crust by weight, and it is the third most plentiful element dissolved in seawater.

It’s very abundant in nature, and it’s found in important quantities in many rocky minerals, like dolomite, magnetite, olivine and serpentine. It’s also found in seawater, underground brines and salty layers. It’s the third most abundant structural metal in the earth’s crust, only exceeded by aluminum and iron.

The United States has traditionally been the major world supplier of this metal, supplying 45% of world production even as recently as 1995. Dolomite and magnesite are mined to the extent of 10 million tonnes per year, in countries such as China, Turkey, North Korea, Slovakia, Austria, Russia and Greece.

Humans take in between 250 and 350 mg/day of magnesium and need at least 200 mg, but the body deals very effectively with this element, taking it from food when it can, and recycling what we already have when it cannot.

There is no evidence that magnesium produces systemic poisoning although persistent over-indulgence in taking magnesium supplements and medicines can lead to

muscle weakness,
lethargy and
confusion.

Effects of exposure to magnesium powder: low toxicity & not considered to be hazardous to health.

Inhalation: dust may irritate mucous membranes or upper respiratory tract. Eyes: mechanical injury or particle may embed in eye. Viewing of burning magnesium powder without fire glasses may result in "Welder's flash", due to intense white flame. Skin: embedding of particle in skin. Ingestion: unlikely; however, ingestion of large amounts of magnesium powder could cause injury.

Magnesium has not been tested, but it’s not suspected of being carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic.

Exposure to magnesium oxide fume subsequent to burning, welding or molten metal work can result in metal fume fever with the following

    temporary symptoms:
    • fever,
    • chills,
    • nausea,
    • vomiting &
    • muscle pain.

These usually occur 4-12 hours after exposure & last up to 48 hours.
Magnesium oxide fume is a by-product of burning magnesium.

Physical dangers:
Dust explosion possible if in powder or granular form, mixed with air.
If dry, it can be charged electrostatically by swirling, pneumatic transport, pouring, etc.

Chemical dangers:
The substance may spontaneously ignite on contact with air or moisture producing irritating or toxic fumes.
Reacts violently with strong oxidants.
Reacts violently with many substances causing fire and explosion hazard.
Reacts with acids and water forming flammable hydrogen gas (see ICSC0001), causing fire and explosion hazard.

First Aid:
Inhalation: remove to fresh air.
Eyes: flush eyes with water thoroughly.
Consult a physician. Skin: wash with soap & water thoroughly to remove particles.
Ingestion: if large amounts of magnesium powder are ingested, induce vomiting & consult a physician.

Note to physician:
no specific treatment or antidote. Supportive care recommended.
Treatment should be based on reactions of the patient.

Article: 10 Signs of Magnesium Deficiency. INDEX

©2017 Enviromedica.

Symptoms of poor magnesium intake can include
    • muscle cramps,
    • facial tics,
    • poor sleep, and
    • chronic pain. ...

But how can you know whether you’re getting enough?
According to population studies of average magnesium intake, there’s a good chance that you’re not.

Less than 30% of U.S. adults consume the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of magnesium.
And nearly 20% get only half of the magnesium they need daily to remain healthy.

Magnesium activates over 300 enzyme reactions in the body, translating to thousands of biochemical reactions happening on a constant basis daily. Magnesium is crucial to nerve transmission, muscle contraction, blood coagulation, energy production, nutrient metabolism and bone and cell formation.

Considering these varied and all-encompassing effects, not to mention the cascading effect magnesium levels have on other important minerals such as calcium and potassium, one thing is clear – long term low magnesium intake is something to be avoided.

  1. Do you drink carbonated beverages on a regular basis?
Most dark colored sodas contain phosphates.
These substances actually bind with magnesium inside the digestive tract, rendering it unavailable to the body.
So even if you are eating a balanced diet, by drinking soda with your meals you are flushing magnesium out of your system.

The average consumption of carbonated beverages today is more than 10 times what it was in 1940.
This skyrocketing increase is responsible for both reduced magnesium and calcium availability in the body.

  2. Do you regularly eat pastries, cakes, desserts, candies or other sweet foods?
Refined sugar is not only a zero magnesium product but it also causes the body to excrete magnesium through the kidneys.
The process of producing refined sugar from sugar cane removes molasses, stripping the magnesium content entirely.

And sugar does not simply serve to reduce magnesium levels.
Sweet foods are known by nutritionists as “anti-nutrients”. Anti-nutrients like sweets are foods that replace whole nutritious foods in the diet, yet actually consume nutrients when digested, resulting in a net loss. Because all foods require vitamins and minerals to be consumed in order to power the process of digestion, it’s important to choose foods that “put back” vital nutrients, and then some.

The more sweet foods and processed baked goods you have in your diet, the more likely you are deficient in magnesium and other vital nutrients.

  3. Do you experience a lot of stress in your life, or have you recently had a major medical procedure such as surgery?
Both physical and emotional stress can be a cause of magnesium (demand) deficiency.

Stress can be a cause of magnesium deficiency, and a lack of magnesium tends to magnify the stress reaction, worsening the problem. In studies, adrenaline and cortisol, byproducts of the “fight or flight” reaction associated with stress and anxiety, were associated with decreased magnesium.

Because stressful conditions require more magnesium use by the body, all such conditions may lead to deficiency, including both psychological and physical forms of stress such as surgery, burns, and chronic disease.

  4. Do you drink coffee, tea, or other caffeinated drinks daily?
Magnesium levels are controlled in the body in large part by the kidneys, which filter and excrete excess magnesium and other minerals. But caffeine causes the kidneys to release extra magnesium regardless of body status.

If you drink caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea and soda regularly, your risk for magnesium deficiency is increased.

  5. Do you take a diuretic, heart medication, asthma medication, birth control pills or estrogen replacement therapy?

The effects of certain drugs have been shown to reduce magnesium levels in the body by increasing magnesium loss through excretion by the kidneys.

  6. Do you drink more than 7 alcoholic beverages per week?
The effect of alcohol on magnesium levels is similar to the effect of diuretics: it lowers magnesium available to the cells by increasing the excretion of magnesium by the kidneys. In studies, clinical magnesium deficiency was found in 30% of alcoholics.

Increased alcohol intake also contributes to decreased efficiency of the digestive system, as well as Vitamin D deficiency, both of which can contribute to low magnesium levels.

  7. Do you take calcium supplements without magnesium or calcium supplements with magnesium in less than a 1:1 ratio?

Studies have shown that when magnesium intake is low, calcium supplementation may reduce magnesium absorption and retention. And, whereas calcium supplementation can have negative effects on magnesium levels, magnesium supplementation actually improves the body’s use of calcium.

Though many reports suggest taking calcium to magnesium in a 2:1 ratio, this figure is largely arbitrary.
The ideal ratio for any individual will vary depending on current conditions as well as risk factors for deficiency.

However, several researchers now support a 1:1 calcium to magnesium ratio for improved bone support and reduced risk of disease. This is due not only to the increased evidence pointing to widespread magnesium deficiency, but also concerns over the risk of arterial calcification when low magnesium stores are coupled with high calcium intake.

According to noted magnesium researcher Mildred Seelig:

The body tends to retain calcium when in a magnesium-deficient state.
Extra calcium intake at such a time could cause an abnormal rise of calcium levels inside the cells, including the cells of the heart and blood vessels… Given the delicate balance necessary between calcium and magnesium in the cells, it is best to be sure magnesium is adequate if you are taking calcium supplements.”

  8. Do you experience any of the following:
    • Anxiety?
    • Times of hyperactivity?
    • Difficulty getting to sleep?
    • Difficulty staying asleep?

The above symptoms may be neurological signs of magnesium deficiency.
Adequate magnesium is necessary for nerve conduction and is also associated with electrolyte imbalances that affect the nervous system. Low magnesium is also associated with personality changes and sometimes depression.

  9. Do you experience any of the following:
    • Painful muscle spasms?
    • Muscle cramping?
    • Fibromyalgia?
    • Facial tics?
    • Eye twitches, or involuntary eye movements?

Neuromuscular symptoms such as these are among the classic signs of a potential magnesium deficit.

Without magnesium, our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction.
Magnesium is a required element of muscle relaxation, and without it our muscles would be in a constant state of contraction.
Calcium, on the other hand, signals muscles to contract. As noted in the book The Magnesium Factor, the two minerals are “two sides of a physiological coin; they have actions that oppose one another, yet they function as a team.”

Chvostek’s Sign and Trousseau’s Sign are both clinical tests for involuntary muscle movements, and both may indicate either calcium or magnesium deficiency, or both. In fact, magnesium deficiency may actually appear as calcium deficiency in testing, and one of the first recommendations upon receiving low calcium test results is magnesium supplementation.

  10. Did you answer yes to any of the above questions and are also age 55 or older?
Older adults are particularly vulnerable to low magnesium status.
It has been shown that aging, stress and disease all contribute to increasing magnesium needs, yet most older adults actually take in less magnesium from food sources than when they were younger.

In addition, magnesium metabolism may be less efficient as we grow older, as changes the GI tract and kidneys contribute to older adults absorbing less and retaining less magnesium.

If you are above 55 and also showing lifestyle signs or symptoms related to low magnesium, it’s particularly important that you work to improve your magnesium intake. When body stores of magnesium run low, risks of overt hypomagnesaemia (magnesium deficiency) increase significantly.

Among researchers, magnesium deficiency is known as the silent epidemic of our times, and it is widely acknowledged that definitive testing for deficiency remains elusive. Judy Driskell, Professor, Nutrition and Health Sciences at the University of Nebraska, refers to this “invisible deficiency” as chronic latent magnesium deficiency, and explains:

Normal serum and plasma magnesium concentrations have been found in individuals with low magnesium in [red blood cells] and tissues. Yet efforts to find an indicator of subclinical magnesium status have not yielded a cost-effective one that has been well validated.”

One of the most effective ways to improve your magnesium levels is to combine a healthy diet with transdermal magnesium.

Many of the factors which contribute to low magnesium stores are caused by inefficiencies of the GI tract.
By delivering magnesium through the skin directly to the cells, topical magnesium products bypass many of the problems associated with low magnesium absorption.

In older adults, reduced gastric acid levels in the digestive system may be a factor in reduced mineral availability.
Hydrochloric acid supplements may be combined with magnesium to combat this dilemma; however a simpler and less expensive option is the use of magnesium chloride supplements. Magnesium chloride has been proven to have a high bioavailability, while simultaneously providing the chloride necessary for healthy digestion and vitamin and mineral absorption.

Advisory: Side Effects - Benefits of Magnesium Citrate. INDEX
https://articles.mercola.com/vitamins-supplements/magnesium-citrate.aspx
The entire contents of this website (mercola.com) are based upon the opinions of Dr. Mercola ...

... Magnesium citrate can increase the risk of developing side effects associated with medications such as aluminum salts (aluminum hydroxide) or anticoagulants (warfarin). Similarly, the effectiveness of drugs such as bisphosphonates, digoxin and tetracyclines may be reduced by magnesium citrate.14

Alcohol and magnesium citrate should not be mixed.
Since both products can induce digestive discomfort, combining them can drastically raise the chance of it happening.15

If you currently have a weakened kidney due to an illness, do not take magnesium citrate.
Elevated levels of magnesium can overwork your kidneys because this mineral is usually expelled through your urine. Those who have hemorrhoids or anal fissures should avoid it as well, because it can cause rectal bleeding, which can be life-threatening if not treated right away.

    Commonly Reported Issues include:
    • Passing gas
    • Diarrhea
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Stomach cramping
    • Hypermagnesemia (high levels of magnesium in the blood)
    • Electrolyte imbalances

... Benefits of Magnesium ...

    • Heart Health
Scientific evidence strongly suggests that magnesium plays an important role in maintaining heart health due to its role as an electrolyte. An electrolyte deficiency can reduce your heart’s ability to pump blood, and your brain won’t be able to function properly. One complication that can arise from magnesium deficiency is arrhythmia, or an abnormal heartbeat.

    • Blood Pressure Management
Controlling your blood pressure is important, because a high pressure can increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.
Sufficient magnesium intake may help lower these risks, according to Dr. Yiqing Song from Indiana University.
He explains that magnesium dilates your arteries, which can lower blood pressure.

    • Bone Density
Magnesium works with calcium to help maintain healthy, dense bones, which is why you’ll notice that those who are deficient in this mineral have an increased risk of developing osteoporosis. Maintaining a healthy balance of magnesium, calcium, and vitamins K2 and D can help promote bone health well into your adulthood.

    • Muscle Control
Magnesium plays a critical role in your muscles by helping them relax after a contracting action.
Without it, your muscles will always be in a state of contraction, which can be painful and hamper athletic performance.
Deficiency in this mineral can lead to constant cramps, muscle spasms and prolonged muscle soreness.

    • Blood Sugar Regulation
Magnesium may have a beneficial effect for people who have type 2 diabetes.
It’s believed that this mineral plays a role in helping control your blood sugar levels, according to the World Journal of Diabetics.
Furthermore, increasing your magnesium levels may help improve insulin sensitivity, according to another study.

    • Magnesium is involved in energy production inside every cell, and magnesium supplementation has been shown to improve endurance during exercise. Magnesium also plays an important role in the central nervous system, regulating neurotransmitter metabolism and modulating the sensitivity of nerve receptors, including those involved in the “fight or flight” stress response. Research shows that taking a supplement can quickly restore healthy levels of magnesium, relieve anxiety and other symptoms associated with deficiency, and lower the risk of serious conditions such as heart disease.

-Notes: Symptoms of Magnesium insufficiency. INDEX
Notes from a Hair Elements Report, 2005-05-31
Provided by Doctors Data, LAB # H050810-0371-1 --- Client# 20698

Magnesium is an essential element with both electrolyte and enzyme-activator functions.
However, neither of these functions takes place in hair. If one rules out external contamination of hair as a result of recent hair treatment, elevated hair Mg is more likely to indicate maldistribution of the element. Physiological Mg dysfunction may or may not be present.

Maldistribution of Mg can occur as a result of
    • chronic emotional or physical stress,
    • toxic metal or chemical exposure,
    • physiological imbalance of calcium and phosphorus,
    • bone mineral depletion, and,
    • renal insufficiency with poor clearance of Mg (and other metabolites). ...
    • hypoglycemia and
    • an inappropriately low ratio of dietary Ca:P.

Mg status can be difficult to assess;
whole blood and packed blood red cell Mg levels are more indicative than serum/plasma levels.
Amino acid analysis can be helpful in showing rate-limited steps that are Mg-dependent (e.g. phosphorylations).

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, including heavy metal toxicities, systemic fungal presence, and a number of other significant health problems ... were experienced by this individual between late 2003 and late 2008.

Heavy metal toxicities can provide many symptoms which suggest the weakness or failure of one or multiple physiological systems. Testing these systems invariably results in an assessment of NORMAL organ function. What is usually missed is that one or more organs are functioning in a DEPRESSED, slow, yet balanced manner. Some organ function declines will influence the balance of and actions of other organs.

Often, the effective diagnosis and treatment of chronic illnesses by either the medical, health enhancement, or holistic modalities is slow to non-existent. This does result in added emotional burdens to the individual, especially if that individual has a history of activity oriented lifestyle and no significant experience is known to correlate with the onset of CFS-ME, which is often dramatic and immediate, and, totally lifestyle deadening.

Article: Intestinal Peristalsis & Magnesium. INDEX
https://www.livestrong.com/article/470686-intestinal-peristalsis-magnesium/
by CHRIS DANIELS --- Oct. 03, 2017
Copyright © 2018 Leaf Group Ltd.

Peristalsis is a series of orderly contractions of the intestines that push food through your intestines.
High levels of magnesium can interrupt peristalsis, causing diarrhea and cramping.
High enough levels of magnesium may be obtained when taking magnesium supplements or a large number of supplements using magnesium stearate, or another magnesium compound, as a filler.

Peristalsis
Your digestive system works by pushing a ball, or bolus, of food through the muscular tubes of your esophagus, stomach and intestines. Peristalsis moves food, mixes it with stomach acid, mucus and digestive juices containing enzymes that break down nutrients before they are absorbed. In the esophagus, stomach and small intestines peristalsis is relatively continuous. Peristalsis moving waste through the large intestines occurs only a few times per day.

Magnesium in Your Body
Magnesium is an essential mineral in your body.
Adequate magnesium is important for bone strength, learning and memory, heart function and biochemical reactions.
According to the National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements, most Americans consume adequate levels of magnesium, neither in deficit nor excess. High doses of magnesium are normally due to dietary supplements and laxatives containing magnesium. The Office of Dietary Supplements states that the upper level of magnesium from supplements is 350 mg per day for adults.

Sources of Excess Magnesium
Most food contains some level of magnesium. Additionally, magnesium is added to many processed foods.
According to the Office of Dietary Supplements, there is no tolerable upper limit for dietary magnesium: Excess dietary magnesium is excreted with waste. Magnesium stearate, as well as related chemicals, is used in the processing and as a filler in many dietary supplements and medicines in both pill and powder form. Taking large amounts of dietary supplements at once, especially without food, can disrupt peristalsis leading to nausea, cramping, diarrhea and other intestinal discomfort.

Consequences
Magnesium causes the muscles in your intestines to contract sporadically rather than in a controlled manner.
This prevents proper digestion as stomach acid and digestive juices are not properly mixed with food.
If a large amount of dietary supplement or medicine are taken at once, they will be pushed through your intestines before they can be absorbed. Space any dietary supplements throughout the day and try to take them with a meal to prevent gastrointestinal discomfort.

Article: The Relationship Between Magnesium Deficiencies and Parasites. INDEX
https://www.nourishingplot.com/2018/02/27/
relationship-magnesium-deficiencies-parasites/
By Becky Plotner --- February 27, 2018
becky.nourishingplot@hotmail.com

... The earliest signs of a magnesium deficiency are low appetite, nausea or vomiting, fatigue, and muscle weakness.

Severe magnesium deficiency signs can be low potassium levels or low calcium levels. ...

In those with a damaged microbiome (Gut and Psychology Syndrome), magnesium deficiencies are often present.
Nutrients says, “Magnesium is an essential electrolyte for living organisms. Magnesium intoxication is rare. Neurological symptoms are strengthened in magnesium deficient patients. Magnesium supplementation in those patients can be of benefit in most cases.” ...

The Dental Research Journal reported,

“The systemic factors of bruxism include intestinal parasites, subclinical nutritional deficiencies such as calcium and magnesium deficiencies, allergies, and endocrine disturbance.”

... Candida is connected to parasites, keeping their balance in a declined microbiome ecosystem.
The Journal of Parasitology Research says pathogens, parasites, worms, viruses and yeasts keep this declined balance. If yeasts are present with worms, bacteria and viruses, and the body grows a stronger ecosystem due to the introduction of beneficial strains, as the journal stated, the evacuation of them will deplete Magnesium stores.

Those with a decline in the microbiome have high levels of Candida, which produces ethanol, says PLOS, Pathogens.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4207824/

As stated, Candida is (often) present with parasites. Candida offgasses ethanol, a form of alcohol. Magnesium reduces the ethanol. Symptoms of ethanol in the body are drunken type behaviors, such as laughter, clinginess, bumping into walls, anger and tantrums, as well as others.

... When a damaged microbiome is present, the magnesium is clearly depleted.
Replenishing these stores can support a depletion.
When the body is depleted of nutrition, it will first use up its magnesium reserves.
The depletion progresses to the next stage where it depletes nutrients from the body tissues.
The next step of depletion is the presence of biochemical changes.
The next stage of depletion includes functional changes in bodily processes.
The last stage of nutrient depletion is anatomical changes, which means the body loses structure.

For magnesium depletion levels Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD, neurologist, neurosurgeon and author of GAPS, recommends a person,

“May need magnesium (Mg). If yes, then give her a good Mg supplement to take daily, such as Nutri Advanced MegaMag Muscleze, 1 teaspoon a day.” (Campbell-McBride, Natasha.

Re: Questions” Message to Becky Plotner 30 November 2017. E-mail.).
There are two flavoring ingredients in the product which can cause some people to say it’s not GAPS approved, however, Dr. Natasha recommends it because the benefits far, far, far outweigh any negatives. The balance of different forms of magnesium, as well as other cofactors is advanced and deeply nourishing. For the nutritional breakdown of MegaMag Muscleze, LINK.
https://www.nutriadvanced.co.uk/megamag-muscleze-162g.html
Dr. Natasha also recommends this product for those who are pregnant or nursing.

Those with even more severe magnesium deficiencies feel best while adding more, magnesium, especially in the forms which saturate the cells with magnesium, such as magnesium glycinate, ... this is the most saturating form of magnesium, along with the Muscleze. Another GAPS approved from of magnesium is ... magnesium malate.

Magnesium L-threonate:
A Spectacular Help for Improving Memory and Brain Function
https://www.webnat.com/Articles/MagnesiumLThreonate.asp
by Dr. Guosong Liu, M.D2 Ph.D.
Four Winds, Inc. USA
2012-03 (?)

As people age, their brains age too.
Science has shown that certain portions of the brain, namely the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus, shrink as we age.
Our computation skills slow. Our spatial orientation, verbal memory, perceptual speed and inductive reasoning all decrease, the last three of these decrease dramatically (unless we continue to use them, actively, daily).

Researchers have found that the number of synapses (spaces between nerve endings where brain chemicals transfer information) decreases with age. In order to recover lost ability, we need to regrow synapses in both the prefrontal cortex and the hippocampus.

Scientists had already discovered that aging people and those with dementia had a lot less magnesium in their brains than younger people. They theorized that increasing brain levels of magnesium might enhance synaptic activity and thus improve brain function.

Dr. Liu and his colleagues at MIT found that magnesium 1-threonate (MgT), a vitamin C metabolite of magnesium, is indeed able to penetrate into the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex the two areas of the brain known to shrink with age.

After administering MgT to rats and mice for a period of time, they measured a 50% increase in the number of synapses!
Further animal testing showed that MgT enhances learning and both short- and long-term memory in young and aging rats.
Dr. Liu and his fellow researchers also found that MgT does not enhance or impair fear memories (or increase bad memories) as MgT helped reduce anxiety-like behavior and learned helplessness. Dr. Liu theorized that this nutrient might be useful for people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

In 2003, the Journal of Nutrition reported that half of the US population may be magnesium-deficient. Deficits appear to worsen after age 50 in men, and African Americans take in less magnesium than Caucasians do. So we all can benefit from more magnesium.

It has also been established that Alzheimer's patients have much lower levels of magnesium in the body.
In fact, the lower the magnesium levels, the worse the Alzheimer's symptoms.
It follows, then, that administering magnesium 1-threonate, which can cross the blood's brain barrier, to Alzheimer's patients would likely lead to improvements in learning, memory and emotional control. ...

Dr. Guosong Liu, M.D2 Ph.D., recently (2012?) presented the following information at Nature's Sunshine's National Convention in Hawaii.

Dr. Liu is Professor and Founding Director of the Center for Learning and Memory at the School of Medicine at Tsinghua University in Beijing; Adjunct Professor of the Center for Learning and Memory at the University of Texas in Austin; and Former Professor at the Department of Brain and Cognitive Science and the Department of Biology at MIT.

(NaturalNews) "Create the Disease and Offer the Cure" appears to be the overriding mandate of allopathic medicine subsuming what I learned in medical school - "First Do No Harm."

The most recent "disease" is asymptomatic atrial fibrillation.
The article on a physician's site reads "Asymptomatic Atrial Fibrillation: Should You Be Concerned?"
And, of course, the conclusion is 'Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.' That's the essence of 'marketing disease to the masses' that I talked about in my Death by Modern Medicine book. Here's a shocking excerpt:

"Famed Madison Avenue wunderkind, Albert Lasker, considered the "Father of Modern Advertising", was also a central player in the "Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet" campaign. Right after the successful Lucky Strike campaign was over, Lasker, having made the most money in the history of advertising, decided to retire and go into a new direction. He wanted to become a fundraiser for medical research.

In 1942, Lasker and his wife, Mary, founded the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation.
In 1943, already associated with the American Cancer Society (ACS), the Laskers literally doubled the amount of money raised for cancer research that year. From that point on, the Laskers used all the Madison Avenue propaganda techniques Albert knew to condition the public to generously support funding for cancer research. The campaign strategy couldn't be simpler. Their friend and ACS ally, Elmer Bobst, president of the American branch of Hoffmann-LaRoche and later Warner-Lambert drug company, would start every public speech with, "One in five of us here - every fifth person in the audience - will die of cancer" then turn the fear he had engendered into hope by then stating, "We want to cure cancer in your lifetime."

With this "fear and hope" message, the ACS enlisted millions of unpaid volunteers to carry the message door to door and remind the public, especially during April which eventually was deemed "Cancer Month" by none other than the President of the United States, that if enough money was raised, cancer could be beaten. Thus was created an industry awash in money for research and treatment that many critics now call "Cancer, Incorporated". Some of these same volunteers have been rendered penniless when the cost or their own cancer treatment bankrupted them and their family.

Health charities like the American Cancer Society, or the Arthritis Foundation, or the American Diabetes Association became the public relations arm for each disease. Each charity would first build on the fear of getting their dread disease and convince people that money was the cure. The promise of that cure was just around the corner, if only enough money could be raised to research their particular disease. As the years rolled by, health charities focused on hustling the message to the public both nationally and at the local level to keep each disease visible through local fund drives, special events and the like while much of the money they raised went to lobbyists in Washington to raise the big bucks."

Did that strategy work? Not by a long shot.
The one-in-five people dying of cancer in their lifetime is now one in two. But as I say in my book:

"Why Fix a System That's Earning Billions
Drug companies and modern medicine do not see the need to change what they are doing.
After all they are making billions of dollars, so their strategists wonder why they should change a winning game.
Doctors are earning a sizeable income, and American medical conventions attract 20, 000-30,000 participants where newer and more expensive drugs and surgical techniques are touted. Modern medicine is very pleased with the monopoly it has created. However, for the majority of North Americans, modern medicine is a losing game."

As I mentioned above, one of the newest diseases that we have to fear is asymptomatic atrial fibrillation.
Some of you who are readers of my free online newsletter may remember me announcing that I'd won an award from a prestigious heart rhythm association called "http://www.heartrhythmcongress.com" presented at The Heart Rhythm Congress organized by the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), Sept 23-26, 2012. The Nutritional Magnesium Association issued a Press Release highlighting the award and the importance of magnesium.

Magnesium being recognized by a heart rhythm association is a step in the right direction but then I read articles about atrial fibrillation and see no mention of using magnesium as a primary intervention. In fact, modern medicine says the cause of atrial fibrillation is still unknown, yet, the incidence is increasing each year.

Why is that? Because our collective magnesium deficiency is now epidemic.
The heart rhythm is maintained by the electrical activity of the heart muscle and nerves.
That electrical activity is maintained by the proper balance of magnesium and calcium.
When there is too much calcium, as there is in our modern diet, and too little magnesium, because it's been absent from our agricultural soil for decades, then the heart rhythm is, by definition, going to falter. At that point, surgically implanted pacemakers, surgical ablation of sites of aberrant activity, and drugs will not change the fact that the heart doesn't have enough magnesium to keep it beating properly. The heart has more magnesium than any other organ in the body, which should tell you something about its importance.

Believe me, most doctors don't want to harm their patients.
Perhaps, that's why they only seem to be able to diagnose about 4% of drug side effects because they don't want to think drugs are harmful. In medical school we learned nothing about magnesium or any other nutrients, and at the same time we were told that we would learn all there was to know about disease and the treatment of disease and anything else was just quackery.

So, it's left up to you to educate your doctor so you can get help in weaning off drugs.
Tell your doctor what symptoms have cleared up with the use of magnesium.
Chances are your doctor is suffering from many of the same symptoms and might just begin using magnesium and see the benefits and then pass that knowledge on to their patients. You could be saving your own life and the lives of many others.

Abstract: Magnesium and potassium. Inter-relationships in cardiac disorders. INDEX
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3732091
By Wills, MR
1986;31 Suppl 4:121-31.

Magnesium and potassium are the 2 major intracellular cations.
The intracellular concentrations of these 2 ions appear to be closely correlated, but the existence of a relationship between the plasma concentrations of these ions has been controversial.

A major function of potassium is to maintain the excitability of nerve and muscle tissue.
Alterations in either the intracellular or extracellular potassium concentration affect membrane excitability by alterations in the resting membrane potential.

The critical factor is not the actual potassium concentration in either compartment but rather the ratio of the intracellular to the extracellular concentration. The intracellular concentration of potassium is maintained against an electrochemical gradient by active transport involving an ionic pump mechanism. In this metabolically active ion-pump mechanism the inward transport of potassium is balanced by the outward transport of sodium; this active transport mechanism involves magnesium.

The plasma concentration of potassium has been reported to be an important factor in the genesis of cardiac arrhythmias. The arrhythmogenic mechanisms of hypokalaemia, particularly in mild degrees, have not been clearly defined. However, evidence has begun to accumulate that magnesium deficiency may be a critical factor in the cardiac arrhythmias associated with hypokalaemia.

Diuretic drugs are recognised as primary agents in the treatment of essential hypertension.
In patients on antihypertensive treatment evidence has recently been reported that there is a link between the administration of diuretics and sudden death. In addition to their action on the renal tubular handling of sodium and water, diuretic drugs affect the renal tubular handling of other ions. A well-established complication of therapy with diuretic drugs is an increased urinary excretion of potassium resulting in hypokalaemia.

Hypokalaemia and hypomagnesaemia can be induced by the same mechanisms and are often clinically correlated with one another. The reported incidence of hypomagnesaemia is greater than that of hypokalaemia; a significant correlation also appears to exist between the plasma concentrations of magnesium and potassium.

A significant inter-relationship between the plasma concentrations of magnesium and potassium and the evidence for a critical role of magnesium in the genesis of cardiac arrhythmias would support the proposal that magnesium should be routinely measured in situations, such as diuretic therapy, that are potentially associated with hypokalaemia.

Article: Aging and the Magnesium-Potassium Relationship. INDEX
http://www.magnesiumoil.com/magnesium-health/potassium-aging
by Shealy, C. Norman, MD, PhD.

Magnesium chloride provides major protection against aging, and especially premature aging.
Many processes involved in aging accelerate when magnesium levels are low, partly because magnesium supports the health of the entire body. In fact, many of the symptoms and conditions related to low levels of magnesium also are associated with aging. These include:

    • Reduced energy production
    • Arteriosclerosis
    • Elevated homocysteine levels
    • Calcium deposition in body tissues (and reduced cell membrane flexibility)
    • Declining DHEA levels.

Maintaining high levels of magnesium throughout life can help prevent or reverse biological aging.

Magnesium and DHEA
Magnesium affects the aging process by maintaining adequate levels of the steroid hormone DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone).

Sometimes known as the "youth hormone," DHEA is one of the most abundant steroid hormones in the body, and protects it from premature aging. DHEA provides a broad range of health effects, supporting endocrine function, metabolism, stress response, and the immune system. It helps to maintain muscle strength, lean muscle mass, and overall vitality.

DHEA converts to testosterone in the body.
This may partly explain its anti-aging effects. Deficiencies of DHEA are associated with a range of health conditions, including heart disease, osteoporosis, chronic inflammation, and reduced immunity. While DHEA production declines with age (it is considered a "biomarker" for aging), magnesium (especially when used transdermally as magnesium chloride) is known to naturally boost DHEA levels.

Transdermal magnesium therapy is the method of choice for boosting DHEA levels because it supports the body in producing its own DHEA (endogenous production). Synthetic DHEA supplementation may cause adverse effects.

While magnesium chloride can increase DHEA levels naturally, magnesium deficiencies can accelerate age-related declines in DHEA production. Transdermal magnesium therapy gradually increases DHEA levels, thereby allowing the body to maintain or regain its normal DHEA status. Proper DHEA levels can retard or reverse the aging process (as measured by standard biomarkers) and prevent premature aging related to the negative effects of suboptimal levels of DHEA.

Magnesium & ATP
Another way that magnesium impacts the aging process relates to its role in the production of energy (ATP production).

When magnesium levels remain high, the body can create the energy it needs to maintain its biological functions.
On the other hand, low levels of magnesium reduce the capacity of the body to meets its energy requirements.

When the body cannot maintain normal functions because of suboptimal energy production, then many important processes that help combat aging may be impaired or experience reduced function. These processes include energy production, detoxification, sustaining antioxidant status, and maintaining proper hormone levels. Because these biological processes are interrelated, reduced function in a single process can negatively affect other processes.

Low magnesium levels negatively impact the bodily systems that maintain health and combat the aging process.
Magnesium and potassium have a special relationship that magnifies the importance of adequate magnesium in the body.

Cell membranes contain a sodium/potassium ATPase (also known as the sodium-potassium pump), which is an enzyme that uses energy from ATP to pump sodium ions out from cells and potassium ions into cells. In this way, ATPase regulates potassium and sodium levels in cells.

The Magnesium and Potassium Relationship
Potassium regulation is essential because potassium counters the role of sodium in nerve transmission.
When magnesium levels are low, ATP production declines, and then ATPase cannot properly carry out its transport functions. It then becomes difficult for the body to regulate potassium levels.

In this way, magnesium deficiency can lead to potassium deficiency.
Because potassium is essential for many body functions (including muscle and nerve activity), the emergence of symptoms and conditions relating to potassium deficiency can signal major problems for health. Maintaining adequate magnesium levels helps ensure the proper function of the sodium-potassium pump, and proper regulation of potassium levels in the body.

Thus, magnesium and potassium deficiency are linked, and have reverberations throughout the body on a cellular level.

Without adequate potassium and magnesium, the role of ATPase suffers, and cellular imbalance and toxicity becomes possible. The export of sodium by ATPase acts as the driving force for membrane transport of other substances. ATPase facilitates the import of nutrients into cells, and the export of toxins and wastes from cells. ATPase enables the body to remove excess calcium and toxic metals from cells. This prevents these substances from rising to toxic levels.

For example, abnormal calcification of tissues results when the body cannot pump out excess calcium from cells.
Aging is associated with calcification of cells, cell membranes, and body tissues.

Magnesium supports ATPase function, which prevents calcium accumulation.
Similarly, metal toxicity is a problem because accumulation of heavy metals significantly damages the body, including the brain, and is associated with a broad spectrum of neurological conditions. When magnesium levels remain high, ATP production proceeds normally and ATPase pumps out calcium and heavy metals from cells.

Magnesium protects cells from toxic metals, including aluminum, lead, mercury, cadmium, beryllium and nickel.
However, when magnesium levels are low, these metals accumulate in the body, where they contribute to physical degeneration and accelerate the aging process.

Magnesium, Antioxidants and Oxyradicals
Magnesium is critically needed to maintain antioxidant systems in the body.
Low magnesium levels are associated with the production of reactive oxygen radicals, as well as cytokines and eicosanoids.

Magnesium deficiency not only is associated with oxyradical production, but also with accumulation of oxidative products in organ systems, including the heart, liver, kidney, skeletal muscle, and red blood cells. When there is increased production of oxyradicals, there is a decrease in levels of glutathione, which is one of the body's most important antioxidants.

The increase in free-radical activity that results from magnesium deficiency leads to greater stress on the body's antioxidant systems, and reduced levels of key antioxidants, including glutathione. Magnesium not only protects cells from oxidative damage from free radicals, but also aids in the absorption and metabolism of B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Maintaining high levels of magnesium helps prevent the excessive stress placed on antioxidant systems and the damage caused by oxyradicals that occurs when the body is deficient in magnesium.

Magnesium’s role in the protection from premature aging relates to several of the body’s processes on a microscopic, cellular level. Whether through DHEA production, maintaining the potassium and magnesium relationship, protecting against ATP, potassium and magnesium deficiency, or maintaining healthy antioxidants, magnesium plays a crucial role in cellular health and protection against premature aging.

A Real, or Pseudo Genetic Modification?

During 2015, I experienced almost immediate and significant modifications to my metabolism, intestinal peristaltic activity, sleep dynamic, bone development, conscious awareness, heart strength, and, respiratory efficiency. Medical and alternative health consultations and testing revealed nothing considered abnormal , remediable, or life threatening. Still, the reality was attention getting. I quickly discovered that if I did not manually flush out my colon daily my blood would become very gradually so toxic that I would drift towards a coma state. It also became immediately apparent that if I waited for the medical industry to assist I would be in a coma with doctors wondering what to do as I died.

For almost 2 years, a dramatic positive lifestyle change was maintained by these changes.
I was able to consistently do 80 hours of volunteer work weekly during which time I would experience fully active consciousness, relaxed emotions and muscles, an absence of any need for sleep or any desire for food or a pause, and, a stable motivational pleasure. These changes were predicated on other less positive lifestyle changes: no or minimal social life, low calorie and highly defined nutritional intake, an absence of libido which appeared to be traded for a constant presence of Reverence and access to Prayer, and, an avoidance of ALL vegetables and most starches. With my age being in the late 60's, I was proving to be more intellectually active and emotionally and physically balanced than at any time in my above average lifelong active life.

In late 2016, and also beginning on an almost immediate basis, my energies dramatically changed downward and my Very Active lifestyle was forced to me minimized. Tiredness and fatigue and mind distraction replaced 80 active hours with less than 7 per week. This form of tiredness was TOTALLY unlike that which I had experienced earlier in a 5-year experience of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). And these new "active" hours would appear on an erratic basis of unpredictability of the "when" and the "how long." The daily colon flushes remained necessary and gradually grew in necessity of intensity. My need or desire for sleep barely changed from the form 2 to 4 hours daily though many hours of Rest and media observation came to replace the previous magnitude of conscious and intellectual activity. I used all the resources available to me in attempts to determine what the health degradation factors might be.

Medical tests included standard blood and urine tests (which signal little beyond significant or impending organ failure or dysfunction), and, at my insistence, x-rays, CT scans, and an ultrasound. What I did not find out until much later was that the "Results" of such tests are as Relevant and beneficial as the specialists who interpret them. And, in the Canadian system of Provincial political financing and control of local medical standards, practices, and status quo ... an accurate reading of the results was as frequent as winning a lottery. With most North American medical doctors having NO awareness of nutritional contributors to health, having no encouragement beyond the prescribing of pharmaceuticals, and, NO diagnostic capacity beyond that of trial and error guessing and the scanning minimized learning of Internet and other resources ... NO answers of interest was building in the Province of British Columbia.

In mid-2017, I gained the opportunity to move to the Province of Alberta and I relocated there.
With a new start in a hopefully not identical medical bureaucracy, medical tests were updated.
More resources in terms of health services and personally funded tests were available to me in Lethbridge.
I had years earlier effected several significant detoxing regimens to remove heavy metals, chiefly Mercury, from my system ... with significant, and sometimes, immediate improvements to my health. While all of my mercury amalgam dental fixtures had been removed before 2015 ... including the "hidden" ones, I had all of my remaining teeth extracted in 2015. This would have seemed to suggest that I could no longer acquire heavy metal poisoning and that my system must be free of them. In addition, my diet had been largely focused on Canadian Wild Blueberries, and Iranian Dried Dates with a minimum of dairy, meat, starch, and manufactured foods.

A Body Composition Test came to my awareness at the same location I was having an ultrasound test done.
Available for private funding of $75, my prayers indicated that this would be a benefit; I immediately booked one.
The results were confusing as they were abnormal in an irregular manner. As an individual who has had oversized lungs for much of my adult life, these were now pictured to be relatively small ... possibly contributing to why I felt like I was being continually smothered! Significant was the finding that my Bones had been increasing in both density and size. Ten years previously, a bone scan had indicated that my bones were already losing their density and reducing in size. Persons of my age almost categorically show the reducing scenario, often increasing with their age. Neither technician nor doctors had any suggestions or interest in this significant change from reducing density and size of bones to increasing. With some personal research, I discovered that the only factors considered, as of late 2017, to contribute to these changes were the presence of one or more cancers, and, a heavy metal load being stored away by the body into the bones ... to provide Reduced organ influence.

I determined to have a 24-hour Minerals Analysis Urine Test for the purpose of confirming whatever the reality was regarding the presence of heavy metals. I had the results of a number of earlier ones taken over the previous 20 years that showed the presence and removal of a significant Mercury toxicity. From my former detoxing, no teeth, and nearly organic nutritional base, I expected NO heavy metals, or toxin loads. To my shock, the results indicated that I had VERY HIGH levels of 6 minerals, in addition to High levels of others. After 3 or 4 months of intense, and interrupted high detox cycles, involving many chelators and nutrients, I found that I had been successful in dumping two-thirds of the highest and worst contaminants.

For almost 2 months, a significant detoxing symptom, unrecorded as related to the excretion of any of my toxins, had presented: a covering of callous-thick skin developing on my heels and the inside edge of the heels on a DAILY basis. No creme, lotion, salve, or other skin remedy provided any benefit. As the skin thickened and hardened it would eventually crack and removal became both a compulsive preoccupation, and, a necessity to reduce the likelihood of acquiring blood poisoning from infection. This callous-like daily skin removal occasionally worsened. The skin removed rarely came away in even thickness layers so that areas were left which almost penetrated to the underlying flesh. Dry bandaging became necessary. Within 24 hours, the bandages and the wounds would begin to smell as if there was a collection of sweat and rot.

One day, the twisting of my hips to raise my legs to the sink, and bending and resting the knee on the sink edge such that I could manicure and wash the troubled areas .. became too much. Often, I was weak at these times and leaning extra weight against the twisted limbs became possible. Within several hours, I lapsed into a Very Painful reality with my right hip feeling dislocated, my lower back feeling as if at least two vertebrae had been subluxated, with the length of my right leg being two-thirds numb, and a feeling that the ligaments in my right leg, hip and side had been stretched and were inflamed. No structural position was less painful than another. Standing, sitting, laying on my back, or on a side ... ALL were an almost constant source of intense dull pain. A cold pack provided 15 minutes of relief which could not be effectively used more than once an hour or less. It was a Friday evening. My chiropractor would not be available until Monday, at the earliest.

With the intense pain I had experienced from a multiple of experiences earlier in life, my system had developed a resistant self-numbing to pain. I knew when my body was in pain largely by changes in my breathing and changes in my face ... which reflected internal pain as is shown by most people. THIS pain, I could feel. My prayers reminded me that pharmaceutical painkillers would more greatly disadvantage my liver and kidneys than resolve these pains ... so, I took none. I did use a locally produced "Muscle & Joint Pain Relief Blend" of Essential Oils.

On the Monday I was fortunate to see my chiropractor in the early afternoon.
I think we were both surprised to find that NONE of my vertebrae were subluxated, my joints displayed good movement, and, the pain was coming from overtaxed and stretched muscles and tendons. Massage was a possibility. Acupuncture and fascia work was more the direction from my prayers. I arranged an acupuncture appointment for late the next morning. I had previously benefited on 3 occasions from the use of intensive acupuncture treatments, each received from different practitioners in different locales. I had this treatment. I found it best to attend to a local Health Food Store I had not been to yet. There, I self tested as best to obtain several Magnesium supplements to assist my body. Within 24 hours, 80% of my pains and stiffness had been rectified by the acupuncture, Essential Oils, and, magnesium supplements. Yet, a "new" problem had arisen.

Almost any supplementation with Magnesium, for me, left me in a "magnesium toxicity" state.
My muscles were so relaxed that there were HOURS when I felt so weak and fatigued that any activity was difficult.
While cleansing my bowels proved a little easier, it then followed, for hours, a sensation of almost incontinence.
In addition, initially, it seemed as if I was highly detoxing through all of my skin ... I stank and had to shower BEFORE doing my colon flush. Symptoms appeared that also aggravated the situation: stinky flatulence, intestinal discomfort, feeling nauseous. The reality suggested that Magnesium supplementation had assisted, for me, in an emergency, and, was only viable for a short interim.

What are the factors which, for me, REDUCED a requirement for Magnesium?
That is, what were other factors which could, for me and others, assist the influence of magnesium?

  • Low Blood Pressure.
Magnesium acts to reduce one's blood pressure.
For most of humanity, HIGH blood pressure is the norm; a small reduction in blood pressure, for them, would be a Plus.
If one has a lifetime reality of LOW blood pressure, ANY factor which reduces it further becomes a health danger.
One might initially think that LOW blood pressure would seem to be contradictory to the benefits of magnesium, yet, on more detailed discernment one may draw a parallel between muscular tightening due to HIGH blood pressure and muscular relaxation due to LOW blood pressure. That then becomes an equation such that LOW blood pressure provides the same muscle relaxant benefit that increased levels of magnesium provides. The threshold between inadequate and excessive magnesium presence then becomes more narrow and demands a more particular awareness and maintenance to maintain a health balance of "normal" within a person who has lifelong chronic (persistent) LOW blood pressure.

  • Stress, Tension, Anxiety reduction.
For an increasing majority of humanity, ALL of these factors are the norm.
They are enhanced by the confusion raised through increasing unmoderated data overload.
The subtle, imprinted, socially and religiously reinforced Authoritarian attitude underlaying most education, most writing and communicating styles, and many relationship and interpersonal dynamics provides a rigidity of confidence such that the contexts of Relevancy and the Humility of a true scientific approach to coping and truth are typically denied. These attitudes contribute to maintaining and increasing one's sense of Pride while surrounded by conflict, irresponsibility, and denial. These are NOT constructive in the long-term dynamic of stress reduction and stress adaptation.

Conversely, I have been fortunate to have recognized a large number of dissonant realities in which theories of Truth conflicted with the experienced and historical Reality. Gifted with a Basic Personality of persisting in identifying, acknowledging, understanding, and developing ways of working through these sources of internal and external conflict, I have developed a wide range of significant coping skills which highly reduce the energies and attention which are often siphoned away within others in the service of Stress. Major challenges and conflicts which often highly distract and retard the actions of others have little influence on me. Yet this is in no small part due to the founding by myself of an effective way of releasing Energy Blocks ... which act as addictive Stress Builders in most humans. My participation in thousands of sessions with a wide range of patients and problems afforded me with an intimate understanding of their dynamics.

Awareness, understanding, and a constructive manner of reducing and even eliminating the stress-building influence of energy block patterns of attitude and action leaves me with a CONSTANT of low physical stress in the most regular and most demanding of realities. This result enables me to conserve the magnesium which nutritionally enters my physical form, and, to use what I have in the most optimum manner. Adding a magnesium supplement, at any but an extreme requirement event, such as a significant injury, will result, for me, in an overload ... which produces symptoms of a toxicity.

  • Weakened Organ Functions.
This may be an influence of one, a few, or many organs which for a single or variety of reasons has decreased in its physical capabilities. Increasingly common reasons for such a depression of physical activity include any one or more of these:
      • diseases that damage organs,
      • parasites: viruses, bacteria, fungi, worms, ...
      • malnutrition: both undernutrition (poverty) and overnutrition (obesity),
      • irregular physical activity (including sedentary work, spectator media & sports, employment dynamics, addictions, ...
      • toxicities (heavy metals from mass produced foods, polluted water and air, dental mercury amalgams, smoking, ...
      • injuries & accidents resulting in below optimum physical recovery of one or more organs,
      • Trauma memory maintained muscle tensions and organ restrictions,
      • personality attitudes of denial, or, overinvolvement, and/or intensity.

    I was born premature.
As science is recently affirming (2016 onwards), such persons tend to have a higher-than-normal frequency of respiratory illnesses (like asthma and allergies), and, a higher-than-normal difficulty with circulatory and digestive illnesses. I did have severe and multiple allergies and hypersensitivities beginning with hayfever - grasses allergies, aggravated by growing up on a mixed farm with annual exposures to excessive grain, hay, straw, dusts and pollens. Before acquiring Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I gained a Hypersensitivity to over 30 substances of which 4 were life-threatening. I found ways to RECOVER from all of these. I acquired and recovered from 3 significant findings of heavy metal toxicity. Each of these major physical stresses will depress the function of one or more organs until they are resolved. Once the health challenge is gone, temporary or permanent physical damage may remain with one or more organs. These weaknesses are, by historical example, usually impossible for the medical community to diagnose, treat, or understand. Denial is encouraged and death closes the door to sustaining and gaining better health for the individual, or, society.

My HEART was found to be oversize during my teens.
This condition is just as often considered to be a negative as a positive ... and with such confusion it is often simply easier for a physician to take the road of denial and ignore the reality and provide NO cautions to the patient. By my 30s I had already experienced chest pains and other symptoms of heart difficulties. I found that vitamin E supplements quickly solved the chest pains. Later, after several severe car accidents and an industrial accident, I found that minimizing my meat protein intake correlated with reduced skeletal and muscle pains and stiffness and reduced my cholesterol levels. Later again, I experienced more and different heart weakness symptoms which mirrored that of a heart attack. Again, with no medical or alternative health practitioner benefits, I found Hawthorn Extract, an herbal nitro-glycerin substitute an effective health support. In other words, I had a demonstrated damaged and weak heart BEFORE my current experience of detoxing for VERY High levels of at least 6 heavy metals and other toxins ... each of which depresses the function of the heart and other organs.

If one is known to have a weakened heart reality, a supplement or pharmaceutical which LOWERS one's blood pressure is an invitation for heart failure. Best to avoid magnesium! Especially since, other details not noted here would indicate a reality of a damaged liver, lungs, and intestines ... that would also NOT benefit from increased magnesium.

There are many over-the-counter non-prescription drugs, herbals, and supplements as well as prescription drugs available in many drug stores and health food stores in North America. Constipation has been medically rated as one of the most frequent ailments which patients request medical assistance with in studies and assessments of health beginning in the 1950s and before. Many of these substances and compounds include Magnesium as a major ingredient. First, why might a person require such a product?

    Contributors.
  1. Fiber: inadequate amounts in the diet to provide bulk that peristalsis action will excrete.
  2. Parasites: intestinal and/or other blockages which restrain stool progression through the bowel.
  3. Toxicities: heavy metals and others typically depress digestive and other organ functions.
  4. Diseases: organ dysfunctions and alter hormone balances and increase tissue tensions.
  5. Exercise: abnormally low or restricted movement can reduce peristaltic activity.
  6. Injuries: ruptures and other tissue interferences can stop or reduce motility.
  7. Cancer (one or more in the abdomen) which acts to block the intestinal canal.
  8. Adhesions (surgical and/or fungal) choking off abdominal functions.

Symptoms.
Any of the above contributors can produce symptoms which increase the anxieties of the individual from discomfort, embarrassment, or lifestyle changes which complicate work, social, and intimacy activities. These include:

    • stomach ache
    • tiredness & fatigue
    • headaches
    • muscle tension & stiffness
    • excessive intestinal gas
    • increasing weight and abdomen girth
    • vomiting, nausea, burping
    • skin outbreaks

Other Common Uses.

Preparation for taking medical tests by emptying intestines.
    • Ultrasounds
    • CT Scans
    • MRI Scans
    • Colonoscopies

      Detoxing and organ stone removal.

Generalized Medical Practices influence.

The medical infrastructures in both the USA states and Canadian provinces reward practitioners only for minimal time spent with patients and not for either well founded diagnoses or problems resolved for the longer-term according to personal feedback from the patients. The most EFFICIENT (shortest time required) diagnoses are those which depend upon projection, superstition, routine & familiarity, profiling, low political and institutional financial cost, peer acceptance. Historically, this has equalled the prescribing of drugs with few if any relevant and practical tests, and, without any lifestyle interview and documentation. This approach typically results in long-term chronic patient frustration, jeopardized employment, increased interpersonal conflicts, depression, and INEFFECTIVENESS demonstrated by either repetitive visits to healthcare practitioners, or, overall worsening health, and/or, increasing levels of behavioral and Pharma addictions. Yet, this is the reality.

Enhancer, Toxin, Detoxer: Relevancy is a matter of Degree.

The more we know about nutrients, hormones, heavy metals, herbal toxins, chemicals, and parasites ... the more we become aware that many, if not most of these possess some level of positive (enhancement, strengthening) and negative (destructive, toxic) health influence, for humans, and likely for other lifeforms. These levels of presence can fluctuate between individuals (depending upon age, size, body composition, degree of health, heredity, race, gender, personal experience) and even within individuals (at different times in their growth and experience cycle and history).

A TINY amount of a heavy metal may provide a health enhancement influence by stimulating the immune dynamics of that person to detox-eliminate excessive stores of that heavy metal that are resulting in symptoms of toxicity. A more Moderate amount of the heavy metal in one's environment or in one's food may produce no immediate symptoms and those begun later from a continued exposure to and storing of the heavy metal may produce symptoms which are so gradual easily rationalized such as to be ignored and denied. By the time the heavy metal "contamination" has become toxic, significant symptoms of health imbalance, disease, or, immune inefficiency may be both multiple, complex, and, obscure.

These observational conclusions are often responded to by the medical infrastructure as some form of genetic or hereditary disease that is best placated with symptom adversarial drugs. The medications dull the symptoms and the cultural attitude excuses the "illness" as some form of "normal". Changes in behavior and lifestyle in addition to "lets-try-this" drug approaches become socially acceptable forms of ignoring the "contamination" by replacing diagnosis with projective superstition and magical pharmaceutical applications bolstered by the confidence of prideful authority praising short-term largely irrelevant treatment conclusions.

In Nature most lifeforms must maintain a healthful balance of nutrients if they are to avoid and survive adversarial life stresses, including diseases and parasites, environmental realities and weather changes. To that end, freshly obtained and prepared foods are most likely to provide the feeding lifeform with minerals, fats, calories, and other nutrients in a balanced combination. With excessively dense and large population spread, humans have destroyed this balance in every way possible to enable short-term survival for longer-term extinction. By overconcentrating plantlife (agriculture), we have encouraged the devastation of insect, viral, bacterial, fungal, and animal pests. In an attempt to rebalance this disharmony, we have compounded chemicals, metals and biomes into toxic concentrations which acutely devastate the pests and chronically disable ourselves. And, by destroying the ecology of the soil, we have necessitated the use of chemical and mineral concentrated fertilizers which ensure the long-term loss of soils and eradication of soil rebuilding and maintaining humus. The result has been increasing Quantities of cropped food with decreasing Quality of plant and animal nutrition.

The outcome of all of this and similar patterns of "civilization" has been to create and ADD toxins to our foods, decrease their nutritional capacity, and, increase our species contaminated dis-ease. We have so normalized this attitude and its results that politically, economically, and socially .. we accept this as NORMAL and irreversible. Any changes introduced to lower this rising tsunami of poison is insignificant to the coming wave. We cannot build a wall high enough and fast enough to stop, or even slow, the coming devastations which we have proudly built, and that any lifeform viewing our historical progression from beyond the Earth sadly knows is beyond any threshold of remediation, correction, or, salvation.

Common Formulations.
(Many of these formulations are marketed under a large number of names with minimal content differentiation)
[Many of these formulations are either magnesium dominated, or, tissue irritants, or, drugs.]

  • Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate)
Magnesium regulates the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, helping muscle and nerve function, and helping to prevent artery hardening. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins, and help ease migraine headaches.

  • Dulcolax (bisacodyl)
Bisacodyl works by stimulating enteric nerves to cause colonic contractions.
It is also a contact laxative; it increases fluid and salt secretion.
The action of bisacodyl on the small intestine is negligible; stimulant laxatives mainly promote evacuation of the colon.

  • Fleet Enema (sodium biphosphate/sodium phosphate)
Monobasic Sodium Phosphate (19 G), Dibasic Sodium Phosphate (7 G) is a common Fleet formulation.
Sodium Phosphate is the active ingredient. It works because the strong concentration creates an imbalance between the colon wall and the the rest of the body. The chemicals draw moisture though the colon wall into the rectum. The additional moisture softens the stool plus the irritation of the chemical solution creates peristaltic contractions in the colon and results in a BM. Unfortunately, this also causes a drain on the kidneys and prolonged use can lead to renal failure.

  • Milk of Magnesia (magnesium hydroxide)
When magnesium is taken in the form of magnesium hydroxide, it helps in reducing stomach acid and increases the water content in the intestines that helps inducing defecation. The other inactive ingredients are purified water and sodium hypochlorite. Other included compounds are anions, like magnesium oxide and beryllium hydroxide. The cations as ingredients are calcium hydroxide, strontium hydroxide and barium hydroxide. The formula was changed when the EU ruled that the sodium content was too high.

  • Magnesia (Magnesium oxide)
    Brand Names include: MagGel, Phillips' Cramp-free, Uro-Mag, Mag-200, Mag-Ox 400, UroMag
Magnesium oxide has poor solubility in water and is poorly absorbed from the gut; relatively ineffective for correcting magnesium deficiency.

  • Carters Little Pills (bisacodyl)
Podophyllum resin & curacao aloes were the original drug active ingredients.
The name was changed to many new terms when the main active ingredient was changed to bisacodyl, which was less toxic.
Also now included are calcium phosphate, calcium sulfate, carnauba wax, cellulose, gelatin, kaolin, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid copolymer, polyethylene glycol pregelatinized starch, silicon dioxide, sucrose, talc, titanium dioxide, and white wax.

  • Polyethylene glycol 3350 (Macrogol or PEG 3350)
Solutions of polyethylene glycol and electrolytes (sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, and sometimes sodium sulfate) are used for whole bowel irrigation, a process designed to prepare the bowel for surgery or colonoscopy and to treat certain types of poisoning. Solutions of sorbitol (SoftLax) have similar effects.
Brand Names include: ClearLax, GaviLAX, Gialax, GlycoLax, MiraLax, PEG3350, SunMark ClearLax, HealthyLax, GoLytely, CoLyte, Movicol, NuLytely, Suprep, and Fortrans.

  • Senna (Senna glycoside)
Brand Names include: Black Draught, Dr Caldwell Laxative, Ex-Lax Chocolated, Ex-Lax Maximum Relief Formula, Ex-Lax Regular Strength Pills, Fletchers Castoria, Innerclean, Little Tummys Laxative Drops, Pedia-Lax, Perdiem Overnight, Senexon, Senna, Senna Lax, Senna Smooth, Senna-gen, Senokot, Senokot Extra, Senokot To Go, SenoSol, SenoSol-X.
Senna is an herb containing sennosides that are derived from the leaves of the senna plant and irritate the lining of the bowel causing a laxative (expulsion) effect.

Articles on the Internet are transitory.
The publishers may remove them, change sites, change URLs, or change titles.
For the purpose of maintaining an availability of these articles for myself and you, I have reprinted parts in the relevant monographs with authorship maintained, coding simplified for error-free loading and minimal file size, and a LINK to the original document. Identity trackers and advertising bots have been removed from the original bloated and manipulative coding. NOTHING in writing is absolute; don't treat human opinion, projection, and observation as an Idol. Doing so can kill you, or worse, have you impose abuse on others.

I gathered and researched this data, mediated with the Grace of God through prayer as a benefit in my integrating discovered available digital information which would acquaint me with the overall content related to the health issues. I have found that God is ALWAYS available when we are Reverent in our Asking, open-minded in our Listening, and, Assertive in our Choice of Action. Doctors did not expect me to survive birth. In the past 25 years, medical and health "experts" have cautioned or directed me, more than 14 times, that I had little time left to live, or would die ... because THEY did not understand my challenges, were not motivated to professionally diagnose, or, chose to superstitiously recall as absolute previously flawed training. I am still alive beyond age 70. With the assistance of God, my Personality, the research and a lack of dismissiveness of a number of persons ... I have found resolution to numerous health challenges. This has enabled me to assist many others who had been abandoned, brainwashed, or traumatized. May my experience and successes also empower you. This is one document which you may find helpful as a BASIC introduction to maintaining and improving YOUR health.
