At first it is recommended to use two pads per foot.
You will see for yourself upon waking the amount of waste that has built up on your pads. Your Acuped will range from being relatively unchanged to brown, wet, and sticky. Chelation, (intravenous, suppositiory, or tablet form) is a possibility for decreasing toxic levels of mercury (from dental amalgams, local exposures, and fish consumption), arsenic and lead. But a much simpler and effective way to help with toxins could be to apply detox foot pads to the bottom of your feet. As Acupeds are topical there is no worry about adversely affecting another part of your body. Nothing goes into the body. Yet toxins are drawn out.

Depending on the individual, the detox period may be for two or three days to two or three weeks, or longer in the case of more severe disease or toxic build up. The pads start becoming lighter in color as less glue-like lymph is extracted. Then, other areas of the body can be cleansed and cleared (often taking far less time).

For greater toxic buildups, you may wish to apply 3 pads to the sole of each foot as often as each set become fully darkened, wet, or hard. Most often, the pads will darken and become sticky, yet some toxins result in little color change and a hardening of the pad materials instead. When applying 3 pads, you may find it easiest to apply in a sequence from the heal to center of foot, to behind the toes.

If your foot length is shorter than that of many adult males, you may find it helpful to cut off 1/3 to 1/2 inch of the long side of an adhesive patch before removing the backing and positioning the pad in the middle and applying. It is best to maximize patch exposure to the skin and minimize adhesive overlap that restricts this.

As your pads warm up, the pores in your skin open allowing the accumulated wastes to be drawn out through the skin under osmotic pressure from the blood and lymphatic systems.

They can be worn anytime but preferably at night.
If wet when removed, immediately wash feet or other applied area, to reduce transfer to flooring, shoes, sheets, or other surfaces. The sticky residue washes away easily.

If worn during active periods, ensure that you wear an old pair of socks over them, or washable slippers or insoles, so as to contain the soak through of the pad liquid that may accumulate from the interaction of the pad materials with the toxins being drawn from your body. These will not be large, yet can be enough to transfer stickiness and dirt to floors, mats, shoes and other surfaces walked upon. A little precaution saves a lot of cleaning.

For eye problems, place on the back of the ears or on the temple, but not directly on the eye.

For wounds and bruising (excluding cuts and eyes)the pads can be used to help reduce inflamation and pain.

For mouth or ear problems, apply a patch either side of the spine on the back of the neck underneath the ears but above the lymph nodes.
