Installing the FreeBible Program.

NOTE: The term "Select" used below, means for you to position your mouse pointer device arrow icon on the filename, graphic button display, or menu word/function ... and press the left button, once or twice (depending on how the preferences have been set on your machine) to activate that link or function.

Setup Type selection box:
3 Choices: Typical, Compact, Custom ---
Typical: most common options.
Compact: installs minimum options.
Custom: any or all options from --
---- Program Files;
---- Easton's Bible Dictionary;
---- Torrey's Topical Textbook;
---- Nove's Topical Bible;
---- Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary.
-------- 36.2 megabytes if all chosen. ----
After marking your choice, Select "Next"

Question box:
"Setup is ready to begin copying files.
Do you want to continue?
Select "Yes"

Files are copied to the hard drive.

Setup Complete advisory:
"Before you can use the program, you must restart Windows or your computer.
---- Yes, I want to restart my computer now.
---- No , I will restart my computer later."
I recommend that you always choose "Yes", then
Select "Finish" to complete the installation.

The programs will close
and your Windows system will reboot.

Restarting the operating system ensures that all of the installed components are fully installed and integrated with Windows; otherwise, some components will not be completely installed and that may interfere with other programs, especially if you try to run FreeBible before restarting. This is true of most programs newly installed on Windows.

Leaving the program not fully installed is like having someone else repair the brakes on your car, then waiting until you are going down a steep hill to see if they work OK.
Don't leave it for later. Try it out.
If it doesn't work properly, Uninstall it, then re-install.

Using the Free Bible program.

The below is a general overview.
Read the "Help" notes from the software for more specific and thorough instructions.

You can start the program by selecting it from the Windows Start menu, Programs section, OR, by Selecting a shortcut icon you have placed on the Windows desktop.

One way to create a shortcut is to right click your mouse pointer on the program name in the Programs listing available from the Start menu. From the popup menu, Select "Send to", then "desktop (shortcut)". A shortcut icon will be placed on your desktop and you may use that for easier access.

After starting the program a "Tip of the Day" notice will appear.
A checkbox at the bottom of the notice allows you to enable/disable this function for future program starts.
Select "OK" to proceed.

The FreeBible Main Page displays.
There are 2 columns of 5 tasks each, at the left.
A larger window on the right has 4 tabs, one for each of these:

KJV Text (King James Version);
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary;
Bookmarks;
Notepad.

A smaller window is at the bottom right of the display.
It has two tab views:
------------- Search Results - Verse
------------- Search Results - List

A Clipboard icon is at the lower left with the instruction:
"Drag and drop text here to add it to your notepad."

BOOKMARKS TAB: options/buttons

Add Current location as Bookmark.
Jump to Bookmark verse.
Delete Current Bookmark.
Add New Folder.
Remove Current Folder.
Move Bookmark.
Help.

NOTEPAD TAB: operates much like Windows Notepad editor.
