ELECTROMAGNETIC PULSE
arising from Nuclear Explosions
and capable of acting as signals to
Extra-terrestrial Intelligent Lifeforms.
INTRODUCTION:
Survivors are persons who are aware of reality and the options they have for constructively interacting with it. Persons who choose to be ignorant out of laziness, or in denial out of fear --- forever live in anxiety, confusion, depression, and despair. Ignoring reality doesn't make it go away and doesn't change anything for the better. Knowledge can bring confidence of action and an attitude of hope. The following acquaints you with a reality that every person of a major political structure should know IF they want to be a winner.
An Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) is produced by all above ground nuclear bomb detonations and by severe lightning attending thunderstorms. Those most considered here will be of the former nature. An EMP is a burst of electromagnetic energy spanning the frequency spectrum from very low frequencies of less than a hertz to ultrahigh frequencies (UHF). Their strength is influenced by a wide range of factors making the determination of resultant effects less than exact. An EMP can trigger a change state in electronic devices from OFF to ON or the reverse, or many effectively destroy the electronic circuit.
In practical terms, this means that a sizable EMP could destroy, activate or deactivate all electronic equipment within its effective range. This further translates into the possible disarming/arming of military devices, including missiles and atomic bombs, and the loss of instrumentation and engine power in interceptor and other aircraft. Electric power grid networks controlled by electronics and all forms of
electromagnetic radiation communication (television, radio, cellular phone, radar, microwave transmission) could be interrupted by an EMP.
The large SOYUZ SPACECRAFT of the U.S.S.R. was originally designed to take an atomic bomb into space for the purpose of detonation over the U.S.A. in space. This was Stalin's goal for USSR security and an intended political tool for Communist domination. Originating in the 1950's, this concept and intent was never made openly known to the Soviet or American peoples until the mid-1990s. No warning need have been supplied, as one of the most effective uses of such a weapon would have been to detonate it in space, while in orbit. The EMP generated could have effectively cancelled out all electronic communication and controlled weaponry long enough to enable an undefended first-strike nuclear attack on the U.S.A. Fortunately, these spacecraft have never yet been loaded with such a weapon.
How likely is a nuclear holocaust?
If an EMP were produced by the explosion of a nuclear weapon in space 100 miles above Kansas City, its energy would be so intense that it would shut off all electric-power systems, destroy all computers and magnetic disks or tape records, destroy the guidance systems of missiles and the computer and communication systems of military and commercial aircraft, and shut down all radio communications - across the entire United States.
Conversely, since 1980 the military of the major powers have been
attempting to devise systems and protective measures to protect electronic circuits from EMP influence. In addition, at greater distances or reduced intensities, an EMP could ACTIVATE electronic circuits presently in a rest or Off state. This capacity bypasses ALL safeguards that can be humanly devised. All of the nuclear weapons within a country could be triggered uncontrollably by such an EMP.
Communication significance of EMPs.
The significance to Extraterrestrial lifeforms is that during the period of 1945 to 1965, both the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. conducted frequent above ground nuclear weapons tests, each of which would have sent
an EMP signal into space at the speed of light. These signals were not at constant intervals suggesting to the receiver that strong signals of a possible intelligent nature were being sent from the planet Earth. In the
terms of Morse code, a constant regular signal could not impart any kind of symbolic language communication. An irregular timed pulse could suggest something intelligent. It is what the SETI program has spent tens of millions of dollars to detect.
Technological Advancement
Power-based technologies have gained dominance in recent human histories only too often to find, at a later date, consider negative side effects attending its development. Prior to 1960, there was little awareness of the existence of EMPs associated with nuclear detonations. Potentially negative factors have typically been the result of technology being developed with the input of ET lifeforms: we get something which is workable and about which we understand very little.
Had we been intellectually and culturally advanced far enough to develop and use the technology for positive universal benefits, we would have gained an understanding about it BEFORE bringing it into reality. It is increasingly suggested that major technological advances in this century, and perhaps even earlier, have come with the assistance of ET lifeforms which provided the image or concept and the assurance that it could be developed and would work.
Technologies which fall into this category included the electric light, the atomic bomb, electromagnetic flight, stealth camouflaged aircraft, biomechanical robots, electronics, lasers. What may have begun as an
intended goodwill "suggestion" to enhance the livelihood of humanity by one ET lifeform may have later made possible the manipulative assistance by a different ET lifeform for purposes of their own. Reported contact with ET lifeforms and their feedback strongly suggest this conclusion. Of course, such developments can be the result of long-term intensive individualzed experimentation and effort.
Military domination of the citizen on a scale of taxation and secrecy has grown throughout the century sponsoring its own kind of employment sector: engineering, science, security, administration, politics, manufacturing, transportation, clothing, communication, and finance. As the Greeks acknowledged centuries past, only the failure of technology can defeat the power of technology. Spiritual strength, in the form of trust, responsibility, positive attitudes, and assertiveness can moderate the influence of or avoidance of technology; however, it must be present before the temptation of power presents itself.
What Really Happens.
During a nuclear detonation, x and gamma rays interact with air molecules, ionizing the latter to result in large electric currents flowing radially away from the detonation. In ionizing the air molecules, the x-rays and gamma rays knock off their outer electrons. Because these electrons are very much lighter than their parent ions, they are more mobile and thus rush outward at higher speeds than the ions.
Momentarily, this results in a more or less concentric, quickly expanding charge separation of tremendous size about the detonation point, consisting of an outer shell of electrons and an inner shell of ions. Such an expanding charge separation region, not unlike a concentric spherical capacitor, results in a very large transient electromagnetic field emanating from that region, due to the accelerating electron current. It is the recoil electrons which produce the EMFs.
In accord with electromagnetic theory, if the charge separation is perfectly symmetrical around the detonation point, no electromagnetic field will be radiated and there will be no EMP. For a detonation on
or near the surface, or even higher in the atmosphere, enough asymmetries will exist due to the contours of the earth, resistance of the Earth, the Earth's magnetic field, atmospheric density gradients ... to result in
a sizable EMP.
Near-ground-based blasts.
For a near-ground blast, a relatively weak air burst radiated EMP signal occurs due to the complex interaction of the electromagnetic field with the atmosphere. Gamma rays from the detonation travel outward at the speed of light and are supplemented by delayed gamma rays coming from the decay of fission fragments. The subsequent electromagnetic radiation is found to have a frequency spectrum ranging from gigahertz (GHz) to almost direct current (dc).
The microwave components are absorbed in the atmosphere, but the radio frequencies are relatively unabsorbed and can travel great distances. Close to the detonation, the whole frequency spectrum is present, and severe damage to electrical, electronic, and non-electronic systems can occur. The frequency spectrum near to the source is relatively continuous with it becoming more intermittent in nature as it travels further away, encountering atmospheric ducting properties.
Atmospheric blasts.
The x-ray output, on the other hand, in an atmospheric detonation, immediately interacts with the air to form a fireball. After a few seconds, the expansion of the fireball ceases suddenly, because the fireball-driving x rays from the nuclear reaction stop. This is because their source is blowing apart sufficiently to no longer sustain the reactions that sustain the reactions that produce the radiation.
At the same time, the shock wave expansion increases as it compresses and heats more air until the shock wave overtakes the fireball and runs ahead of it.
Surface-based blasts.
For a surface or near-surface burst, the material from the excavated crater and the hypervelocity material bomb fragments form the debris and dust that make up the bomb stem and the "mushroom" cloud. For a
higher yield burst, even the ground beyond the crater provides large amounts of dust and smoke carried up with the rising fireball.
For an approximately 1-MT (megaton) burst, the cloud rises to about 60,000 feet in about 5 minutes, depending on the weather up to that altitude. The fallout can rise to thousands of rads per hour of radioactivity within scores of minutes, dropping to a few hundred rads per hour about 24 hours after the detonation.
Space-based blasts.
In space, the radiation can travel for miles before encountering an air molecule, so there is no fireball. If the detonation of a nuclear bomb were to occur high above the central northern United States, for example, a pancake shaped region containing high ionization electric currents would cover much of the continental U.S.A. This would result in the production of an electromagnetic field pulse of considerable strength. The electric field contours interact with the geomagnetic field in the process and a further reflected field would add to the total field strength of any location relative to the ground conductivity at that spot.
Nuclear blast uses.
For the scientific community to remain employed after superbomb development, peacetime uses had to be found. Trying to employ something you don't fully understand and appreciate can be frustrating, and destructive. Such uses of atomic blasts as excavating for canals were globally promoted as a concept by the AEC (Atomic Energy Corp., U.S.A.).
In 1967, Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), announced during a tour of Latin America that the U.S.A. would supply peaceful nuclear explosives to all nations prepared to forego developing nuclear weapons. It was later determined that had the nuclear explosives been used for such purposes, substantial amounts of fallout would have decimated the local populations.
Heavy containment blasts.
Underground and undersea nuclear blasts have virtually no EMP component as the majority of the radiation is absorbed by the land or water mass locally and there is little interaction intended with the atmosphere. This was the major reason for moving nuclear arms testing out of the atmosphere and underground. Doing so allowed for the development of an economy dependent upon electronics and computers ... a cultural bias which is forever a weakness as long as nuclear weapons exist.
